Chapter 3906: Mansion Underground Palace

When Xia De and Feilian returned to the Fragrant Mansion from the Candlekeep Library, it was still early. The girl who was injured by the mysterious collaborator of the 【Emerald Alchemist Association】 was still in the process of treatment. And it just so happened that Feilian had some things in Gray Rock Pass that needed to be dealt with, so she let Xia De rest or walk around in the mansion at will:

"I will definitely be back in an hour."

She arranged for the maids and left in a hurry, but Xia De didn't really wander around in someone else's house, but stayed in the study, took a book from his bookshelf, and spent this leisure time in the afternoon.

He didn't just go on dates with girls during the month-and-a-half vacation. The diligence and love for learning during this period also brought him a lot of improvement. For example, in exploring the nature of March, Xia De had already made great progress.

And Feilian didn't return until four o'clock in the afternoon, which was far more than an hour. She had just entered the door and wanted to apologize, but Xia De stopped her immediately:

"In the two days I've known you, the thing you've said most to me is apology. It was me who disturbed you by being a guest here. You have important things to do, so go do them. I'm fine here."

He shook the star-blue book in his hand, letting it dissipate into light spots in the air:

"I've been reading all afternoon, and it's been very fulfilling. And the tea-making skills of the maid ladies here are very good, and I also like the afternoon tea snacks very much. I can bring the cat I raise to eat next time."

Feilian, who seemed to have run upstairs in a hurry, closed her mouth in guilt, and then coughed violently a few times. This wasn't faked. Even with Xia De's blood brew, she wasn't suitable for such strenuous exercise now, unless she drank Xia De's blood directly again like when they first met.

Nothing major seemed to have happened at Gray Rock Pass. Feilian just explained to Xia De that some contraband related to the big shots in Willowdale had been found on the train passing through the pass. In the war era, important passes like "Gray Rock Pass" had stricter control over materials, but the goods of some big shots clearly belonged to "exceptions."

Feilian didn't say too much, but Xia De understood very well. He had the heart to let her rest first, but Feilian just sat down and drank a cup of black tea with three drops of blood brew added, and then got up to take Xia De to the basement to check on the situation of that follower:

"I still have things to do tonight, so I won't keep you for dinner. After seeing Laura's situation in a while, it will probably be dusk. Do you need me to arrange for you to dine at a restaurant in the city? Although I can't accompany you, I can let Eve go. I don't need to make reservations at any restaurant in the area."

After all, yesterday, her student personally said that she would definitely help her, and the name of the injured girl was the same as Bishop Laura Fisher of the 【Music Sect】.

Xia De shook his head:

"No need. I still have to meet friends tonight, so I'll go to dinner by myself."

Yesterday there was no one at home, which was rare during this period. Xia De didn't believe that no one was at home tonight except Little Mia and Winnie, so Xia De didn't rush to find anyone else.

The basement of the Fragrant Mansion can be reached directly by stairs. When going down the stairs with Xia De and the maids, Feilian told Xia De about the situation in the basement:

"Old houses like the 'Fragrant Mansion' that have existed since the Delin-Oll era usually have basements much larger than the ground area. This is also the case for old houses in Willowdale."

"But Willowdale is on the plains after all, while here it is mountainous. You never know how large the underground area of a house extending toward the mountain body is. This house of mine used to be the teacher's, and I also asked the previous generation of Great Witch of Space to help. The area of the underground space is similar to an entire palace."

"The real basement for storing spices is just a cover. Alchemy laboratories, meditation rooms, training grounds, prisons, etc., are all below."

The stairs connected to the basement were indeed just for storing spices, but after the maid turned the lamp on the wall at the end of the basement, the wall opened with a rumble, revealing a very familiar-looking elevator.

The group continued downward through the elevator until they reached a place similar to the entrance of an underground palace. However, this was only a private place after all, so there was a map at the entrance. The entire underground palace had two floors, and they were currently on the top floor. The structure of each floor was similar, with rooms of different uses opened on both sides of the long corridor, and the area of the rooms varied from large to small.

The maids led the way for the master, and the group came to the third room on the right side of the first floor of the underground palace. After opening the door, blood-red light immediately seeped out. Xia De was startled, almost thinking he had returned to the "Polluted Blood Factory."

But fortunately, this red light wasn't very strong. After entering the room, Xia De saw that the light came from the gaps of the closed stone coffins. There were a total of 20 stone beds in the small room, and three stone coffins were placed on each stone bed.

This scene looked very wrong, and it was easy to associate it with the bridge in vampire novels.

"Witch followers will accept the power of the Great Witches. You should know this. Different witches' powers will have differences, and some will even have an impact on originally normal people."

"This point is not obvious in the followers of witches in seats like Balance, Earth, Light, etc., but it is very obvious in the followers of witches in seats like Darkness, Death, and Chaos."

"'Death' relies on powerful natural transformation techniques to suppress death, and the seat of 'Darkness' is an elder who has long known how to regulate her own power. Of course, she won't let her followers show too obvious changes because of her power."

Feilian pointed to herself. The hanging lamps on the wall were lit one by one, but they were not gas lamps, but some kind of alchemy lamp. The warm yellow light was clearly imitating the lighting effect of gas lamps. Under the light, her face showed apology to her followers:

"Because of my physical condition, I not only failed to suppress the erosion of 'Chaos' power on normal people, but even shared the essence of my own power affected by the 【Emerald Tablet】 when sharing power with them."

"So the girls under me need to lie in the stone coffins here for further power adjustment after becoming followers, otherwise they will gradually become as weak and sickly as I am."

This was the first time Xia De knew about this. Although the power systems of other witches' followers were close to the witches themselves, there were indeed no examples of being affected by the negative traits of the witches themselves.

"In fact, sharing one's own power with followers is itself the first... This kind of treatment device is effective for any flesh distortion. Counting the time, there are five minutes left before this round of treatment ends."

Then Feilian remembered another thing and said to Xia De somewhat apologetically:

"Can you leave for a while? The girl in the treatment device... isn't wearing clothes."

"Oh, sorry."

Xia De turned and walked toward the door.

However, Xia De didn't wait too long before he heard the heavy sound of the coffin opening outside the door. A moment later, the witch called him into the room. At this time, one of the coffins on the east side of the room had been opened, filled with glowing red liquid, and a girl in a white dress, supported by a maid, was weakly talking to Feilian.

The other party's hair was wet, and another maid was drying it for her.

Seeing Xia De walk over, Feilian said to her follower very distressed:

"Laura, this is Mr. Watson I mentioned, he provided the method for me to temporarily recover my health; Mr. Watson, this is Laura Rollin, who has always been the housekeeper of this mansion. Her injury has nothing to do with external wounds. I tried to let her use Star Dew, but it had no effect."

"Good afternoon, Mr. Watson, thank you for your help to the master."

The yellow-haired girl looked even weaker than Feilian at the beginning. Xia De hurriedly stopped her attempt to bow.

"If I can help, I will definitely do my best. Let me understand the situation first. What is the specific injury? Feilian said that only after seeing you can it be explained clearly."

The witch looked at her follower, and the latter nodded with a pale face:

"It's okay, master, since you trust him, I am also willing to trust him."

"That's good, Mr. Watson, please come closer."

Miss Rollin turned around with the help of the maid. Xia De found that her back was actually bulging. And Feilian, somewhat unbearable, directly tore off the back part of the dress, revealing the situation covered under the fabric.

"Hiss~"

Xia De frowned slightly, only to see that the upper part of the girl's originally exceptionally beautiful white back was bulging with an irregularly shaped gray-white area, and there was clearly a face with closed eyes in that white area.

"At that time, Laura took people to investigate the outsiders who were in contact with the 【Emerald Alchemist Association】. As a result, they were discovered by the other party, and Laura and the others fought with strangers in the outer city. At first, Laura and the others had the upper hand, but later the other party used special means to release a kind of noise similar to a baby's crying."

"My followers immediately felt that their spirit was no longer flowing, so they retreated immediately. Laura was responsible for covering the retreat. After they retreated, Laura didn't show any abnormalities at first, but later she became weaker and weaker, and the abnormal area on her back gradually grew from the size of a sesame seed to this."

"Did the others at the time show any abnormalities?"

Xia De asked, and Feilian shook her head:

"I checked carefully, no."

Then she added:

"This white area is continuously absorbing Laura's life force. I also tried to dig this area out directly, but when I tried to do so, it only caused this white area to suddenly grow rapidly. Currently, besides using the stone coffin device to suppress its growth speed, supplemented by some magic potions for treatment, temporarily I can't find a good treatment method. If you didn't appear, perhaps next time I see the Speaker, I would ask her for help." ===== CHAPTER 3907 =====
