Chapter 4013: Wither Demon Valerius

After the study meeting ended at 4:00 in the afternoon, the others left first, and Xia De stayed behind alone with Little Mia. The matter the doctor wanted to talk to Xia De about alone was naturally related to demons:

"Actually, I originally planned to tell you about this today. Since you mentioned it, let's solve it together. It's like this: do you remember the three powerful weapons created by ancient hunters to fight demons?" (Chapter 2903)

"Of course I remember, Hunter's Longsword - 【Night Watcher】, Demon Sealing Prison - 【Witcher Encyclopedia】, Luo Pan for finding demons - 【Path of No Light】."

Xia De answered, which he knew when the doctor held the ceremony to become a Witcher.

The doctor nodded:

"Originally, after assisting you in solving the incident in the Vesta Forest last year, I planned to go out to find these two relics, but after finding the 【Soul Story Collection】 suspected to be related to the 'Great Demon' from Professor Wood's office, I went to the Jibei to find the traces of the demons of the weapons.

As a result, after going around in circles, I actually returned to the starting point now. In the memory of Black Hand - Tifron, the memory about that thing had been processed by it in advance. I conducted in-depth excavation of the incomplete memory in the world of dreams, during which I not only had to restore the processed memory but also had to avoid the traps that lured me into the trap.

It wasn't until this week that I knew that as a weapon once used by that 'Great Demon,' it didn't actually hold the blood of that thing before, otherwise it wouldn't have been sealed many years ago. Blood is what it obtained after escaping from the seal in the Jibei a thousand years ago."

"Where did it get it from?"

Xia De asked, which was the key to the problem, and the doctor gave a definite answer:

"After escaping the seal, it encountered another evil spirit as ancient as itself. Most evil spirit demons cannot get along with each other. Black Hand - Tifron sensed the abnormality of the other party, so in order to restore itself and also for clues, it attacked the other party, seized part of the other party's essence, and finally obtained those bloods from the other party, and knew that the other party held the compass 【Path of No Light】."

Xia De then asked:

"So, the demon defeated by Black Hand - Tifron is weaker than it, right?"

"No, no, the other party just isn't good at fighting evil spirit demons. That is 'Wither Demon Valerius,' whose power attribute is life withering. But we all know that evil spirit demons don't have the concept of 'life' at all; theoretically, they are immortal. Even the demon swallowed by me will be reborn after thousands or ten thousand years, and Black Hand - Tifron is extremely good at fighting."

Xia De nodded clearly:

"Understood, that 'Valerius' although lost to Black Hand - Tifron, doesn't mean it is weak."

"Wither Demon is also one of the oldest evil spirits. I even think that in the First Era, it was already walking in the material world. The other party was sealed in the 【Witcher Encyclopedia】 by the hunters at that time at a very high price in the Third Era. I didn't expect it to run out in the end.

Although I am very worried about the situation of the 【Witcher Encyclopedia】, what is more worthy of attention is 【Path of No Light】. Black Hand - Tifron is convinced that Valerius found clues related to the 'Great Demon' by relying on this compass, and thereby obtained those bloods. Black Hand - Tifron originally planned to track Valerius after finding a way to break the seal, but encountered us on the snowy mountain."

The doctor said his view very cautiously:

"I also can't be sure what exactly the Wither Demon found. If it's just ancient battlefield ruins or some kind of ancient ritual site, it's fine; if it has really found the part of the 'Great Demon' that was sealed..."

The other party has the "Wither" attribute that Xia De wants, which is worth burning with the initial fire, and has key clues about the Primal Demon. Xia De naturally also wants to find it:

"Are 【Witcher Encyclopedia】 and 【Path of No Light】 both with it?"

"The former is uncertain, the latter is likely in its hands."

"Then how to find it? Hold a ritual to locate it?"

The doctor shook his head:

"I can be almost one hundred percent sure that the other party is in the Arcadia region. This is my omen. After swallowing so many demons, this kind of omen is very accurate.

But more importantly, Valerius is a demon of withering life. Its instinct will make it hopelessly attracted by powerful life force. Its nature is like this, which is also one of the reasons why the hunters of that year could seal it.

Since you said that the Arcadia region is currently in a period of abnormally active life energy due to the eruption of a huge Fire Seed Source, then the possibility of it appearing in that city is very great.

You even mentioned that starting many years ago, the population birth rate in Arcadia appeared abnormally high. I suspect that the other party might have already appeared there before this Fire Seed Source eruption."

Xia De recalled:

"In the half month I was in that city of scholars, I didn't notice any traces of demons at all."

"After all, that is the seat of the Holy See of the Orthodox Church. Valerius will certainly not be very high-profile. And as the oldest evil spirit demon, it is very familiar with humans and also very good at disguising itself as a human noble to hide in human settlements. The seal lasting ten thousand years must have taught it enough lessons; it will not show up easily."

The doctor stood by the window looking outside, Xia De looked at the doctor's back:

"What do I need to do now? Use the Fire Seed Source as a trap to attract the other party to appear?"

"No, no, those ancient evil spirits are not pigeons in the square. Hunting them is not that easy. According to my understanding of Valerius, Valerius is the kind of... evil spirit demon that has more taste."

"So the first thing we need to do is to confirm whether the other party is really in the Arcadia region. If it were an ordinary city, I could find a way to hold a large-scale ritual to detect traces of demons, but in Arcadia, this cannot be done. Detective, I have to trouble you this time."

He turned to look at Xia De:

"Help me look up the list of upper-class nobles in Arcadia, and then around this list, investigate who has had a series of missing person cases around them in the past few years.

I know this is a very complicated job, but currently, this method is the safest. It cannot bear not to attack living people. The attraction of fresh life to it is greater than the attraction of gold to the stingiest miser. However, I want to emphasize again that the Wither demon understands life, so it understands the social structure of intelligent life. It is the kind of ancient evil spirit that is very good at hiding itself in the crowd. The investigation work is likely to last for a period of time."

Xia De nodded:

"Now the Arcadia region already has so many troubles, it doesn't mind having one more demon."

The doctor also knew that Xia De was anxious to find the power of "Wither":

"In addition to investigating nobles, I will give you another detector. This detector can react to corpses that died of 'Wither.' It is quite sensitive, so you can take it to the local cemetery for a walk. Although the probability is very small, if there is a reaction, it might save a lot of time."

The doctor said, and handed Xia De a slender black prism-shaped crystal. Inside the crystal was wrapped a group of black flames, which looked similar to the "Life Fire Seed," but the doctor himself said this was just a life fire seed mimicked by demonic power.

"Once you have a suspect, I can immediately have a way to test it. After the battle with Black Hand - Tifron, I am now stronger than before. Black Hand - Tifron could win against it, and I can also easily win against it.

I promise you, detective, once the traces of the other party are confirmed, this demon hunting operation will not be delayed for as long as the last time."

The doctor said finally, Xia De nodded gently:

"I understand, doctor, then just wait for my news."

Xia De indeed did not have much emotional fluctuation about a demon hiding in the Arcadia region. For the current Arcadia region, one more demon that is good at hiding doesn't count for anything.

Xia De was even looking forward to the suspected "Desire" apostles doing something recently. The day when Vigo can reopen the special area within the council to give Xia De a blessing is getting closer. Once he has the blessing of the Chaos Witch, when he sees Desire again, Xia De will not be as wary as before.

【The best way to overcome desire is actually to face desire directly with your own strong will, not by relying on external blessings.】

"She" smiled gently, and the outlander naturally understood this truth. But the problem is, the outlander is still a mortal, and he also has his own flaws. In terms of "desire," his flaws are exceptionally large.

When he returned home with Little Mia, Dorothy had already returned and was "observing" the new bed that Princess Lei Qianya had chosen for Xia De:

"Hmm, yes, Princess Lei Qianya's taste is very good."

The writer lady commented with her arms crossed, and Xia De asked very reservedly:

"Then, will Her Royal Highness the Princess come here tonight to experience this new piece of furniture in person?"

"Of course, Princess Lei Qianya will come over around eight o'clock."

The special ink prepared by Luvia and the "Miracle Ring" can allow them to have three more opportunities to meet within the 21-day cycle of the Red Butterfly Day, and Princess Lei Qianya and Dorothy mostly use this opportunity on Saturday.

Today is the same. After Xia De and Dorothy went out for dinner, walked the cat, and walked home, Princess Lei Qianya's carriage also stopped at the door of the house. Ajia also came along, so Xia De asked about the specific time for Ajia to go to Arcadia.

"Aunt Galina kept urging Ajia to go quickly. I think she just has bad intentions. Father and Mother have already allowed Ajia to go to the Southern Country, and publicly claimed that Ajia is ill and bedridden, so that at least she can not appear for half a year.

The Zalas Academy is reviewing Ajia's application to go out, and there is no big problem. There should be news by next Tuesday."
