Chapter 657

After finishing lunch with Luweiya, he originally thought about taking Mia to the Blind House, maybe he could run into Sister Daifulin. But shortly after lunch, Difa actually came to St. Deran Square to pick up Xia De to be a guest at the witch's manor outside the city.

Miss Miss Jia Lin Na didn't have anything important to find Xia De for, she just wanted to talk to him about the stone figurine containing fragments of the "Whispering Poem" that was recovered not long ago.

At the same time, she also knew that her student Yin Yi Yi Lu Na would temporarily leave Tobesk, so she told Xia De to be careful when acting in Midhillburg recently. The Church had already dispatched the only current Chosen One to that city, which meant that the situation in Midhillburg might undergo major changes in the near future.

In short, this Friday, Xia De did not leave Tobesk. And since there was a meeting on Saturday afternoon, he had no plans to go to Midhillburg again.

It was only after the weekly study meeting on Saturday afternoon that Xia De let Dorothy, who was waiting for him, leave first, while he stayed behind to have a private conversation with the Doctor. The Doctor had borrowed an 【Artifact】 from a friend in the city that could allow him to perform short-term spatial transfer.

"Look at this!"

Perhaps because of the demon, the Doctor seemed very excited and showed Xia De a door placed in the bedroom on the third floor of the clinic.

It was an artifact. The door frame and door panel were made of thick, brown wood that looked relatively old. The left and right feet of the door frame were inserted into metal bases, and the handle and lock on the door looked like the same material as the metal of the base. In addition, a black key was inserted into the keyhole.

The metal base had complex textures that looked like steam circuit plans, while the wooden door frame used patterns similar to vines as decoration, as if there were tangled long worm corpses inside the wood. The door panel was decorated with flowers, and in the center was a two-faced person, with two faces facing left and right respectively.

At the top of the door frame was a line of ancient text, and the translated meaning was very interesting:

【The journey behind the door is determined by the key.】

"Document-level (Level 4) artifact 【Traveler's Travel Door】."

Without Xia De asking, the Doctor began to introduce it.

"You take the key."

The Doctor pulled out the key on the door and handed it to Xia De. The black key was also made of metal and felt unusually cold to the touch.

"Now turn your back to me and keep yourself in a state where you can't see this door."

Xia De turned around according to the Doctor's request.

"Imagine the appearance of that door in your mind, yes, it must be specific, and then imagine yourself inserting the key in your hand into the imaginary keyhole."

Concentrating on imagination is also known as meditation, which is part of the foundation of a Ringed Shushi, so this was simple for Xia De.

He stretched his right hand forward, and the key in his hand pierced into the air. Because there was a maid cleaning at home, Xia De brought Mia out too, and the cat looked at Xia De's actions curiously.

"Now turn the key, remember not to make a mistake. Three turns clockwise, then one turn counter-clockwise. After turning, release the key immediately."

Xia De continued to imagine the door and turned it as required. During the process of turning three times clockwise, unless Xia De's arm could be twisted into a twist, he had to release the key to continue turning. But when he released the key, the key actually stopped in the air as if it were really fixed in the keyhole.

At the same time, Xia De could also feel the fluctuation of the whisper elements in the space when the artifact's characteristics were exerted. He himself had the 【Space-Time】 core spirit rune, so he was very sensitive to abnormal changes in space.

After three turns clockwise and one counter-clockwise, Xia De immediately released the key in his hand. With the key as the center, the door that should have been behind him appeared bit by bit within three seconds. It was as if invisible hands were changing the door in space like piecing together a puzzle.

"Xia De, step back a little. Oh, don't turn your head, remember, you must not turn your head."

The Doctor warned nervously, and then Xia De heard the sound of a door opening behind him.

At the same time, the door in front of him also opened automatically, and the Doctor walked out from inside the door. Xia De even saw his own back behind the Doctor; these two doors really realized spatial splicing.

"You see."

The Doctor who walked out of the door in front of him said with a smile:

"You can use this method for spatial movement. Only one person can pass through the door at a time, and you must return within 3 minutes and 12 seconds."

Xia De noticed that the Doctor was holding a pocket watch.

"This door will only disappear when I return again or when the time is up. During this period, the key cannot be pulled out, and this door cannot be destroyed or moved by non-spatial forces. At the same time, I cannot leave the range of about 10 feet (about 3 meters) with the key as the center of the sphere. When I reach the boundary, I will walk out of the door again."

"What happens if you exceed the time? Automatically return?"

"Of course not, you will maintain the same altitude and appear randomly at any position in the material world."

As he spoke, the Doctor turned and retreated into the door. And with the sound of the door closing behind him, the door in front of Xia De disappeared as if erased by an eraser, and the key fell to the floor with a clatter~.

"Two situations will cause the artifact to lose control: one is using the key while looking at the door itself, and the other is turning it three times clockwise and one time counter-clockwise while the key is inserted in the door body."

"What will happen? Since it is poet-level, the harm caused by losing control should not be small, right?"

Xia De asked curiously.

"It will summon some terrible things living in the cracks of space. It's somewhat similar to the situation where your miracle 【Lagley's Jump】 is used frequently, but it's much more terrible than that. In addition, every time you open this door and cross it, according to the research of St. Byrons who contained it, there is about a 0.2% probability of being directly torn apart by a space storm. But considering that the probability of being hit by a carriage while walking on the street is about the same, there is no need to worry about this."

The Doctor shook his head and asked Xia De to pick up the key:

"This artifact cannot be used in areas with spatial anomalies, otherwise it will cause spatial tearing, such as in the dark realm, where this artifact cannot be used. Also, this door cannot be used frequently; the frequency of once an hour is the limit. In addition, the containment conditions are very simple: when not in use, just insert the key into the keyhole. The key cannot leave the door lock for more than 8 hours under any circumstances, and the key itself cannot pass through this door."

The final limiting condition determined that the use of this door was not very great. You must have spatial power and be able to return the key within eight hours to take the key to a distant place, but since you already have the power of spatial jumping, the significance of opening a single-person, single-use door for three minutes is not particularly great.

"Can this be used for smuggling?"

Xia De asked curiously again.

"Yes, but this door cannot carry special items, nor can it transport items exceeding the user's own weight."

Therefore, it makes sense that this door, which sounds very useful, is only rated as "Document-level (Level 4)".

"Xia De, when do you plan to go to Midhillburg to solve that demon? Tell me the specific time, and I will prepare here. Only 3 minutes and 12 seconds, although it seems enough to me, I still need to prepare in advance."

"Let me think... Dorothy is going to give me a lesson tonight, I have to open a time key tomorrow morning, and I have to go to Midhillburg to visit a diviner who can predict death in the morning, so I will have time to come back to get the key in the afternoon... How about seven o'clock in the evening?"

"Are you that busy?"

The Doctor asked curiously, and seeing Xia De didn't answer, he didn't think much about it:

"The key cannot leave the door lock for more than 8 hours, otherwise something will come out from behind the door, and then add the time for you to return the key... For safety's sake, come and get the key after three o'clock tomorrow afternoon."

"No problem."

Xia De nodded, hesitated for a moment and asked:

"Doctor, does that correspondence group of the Zaras Academy of Literature have any intention of selling this door?"

"You want this?"

The Doctor asked, and Xia De nodded again:

"This door has spatial power, maybe it will help me better use the 【Space-Time】 spirit rune."

More importantly, whether in Coldwater Port or Midhillburg, he acted alone. He could find some assistants locally, but they were not intimate partners like Yin Yi Yi Lu Na or Luweiya.

Although this door can only be opened for 3 minutes and 12 seconds, sometimes half a minute can play a big role.

"They are indeed willing to sell it. After all, the key cannot leave the door lock for 8 hours is a ridiculous limitation in itself. And the short usage time and the distance limitation after opening the door greatly weaken the value of this artifact. But I heard them say that they are only willing to barter, exchange artifacts for artifacts, and do not accept other transactions."

"I see."

Xia De actually has quite a few artifacts: the Sage-level 【God's Gift Box】, the Secret Keeper-level 【Fate's Twenty-Sided Dice】, the Document-level 【Gun of Kindness】, the Document-level 【Soul Fishing Rod】, and the poet-level poem manuscript pages are all useful. The three rings 【Demon Hunting Seal】, 【Transformation Ring】, and 【Fish Training Ring】 must be kept, and the blood money and the standing coin are even more impossible to sell.

The only ones that can be considered for sale, and that the other party might accept, are the poet-level 【Leaf of Eternal Youth】 and the document-level 【Corpse-Hiding Mirror】. Xia De has two of the former, and there will be more in the foreseeable future; the latter's characteristic of hiding in the mirror is very useful, but it is not necessary for Xia De, and not having it will not affect his combat effectiveness.

"I actually have so many 【Artifacts】."

Thinking of this, Xia De himself was a little surprised. After all, except for that fishing rod and the standing coin, all other artifacts were obtained for free, so he didn't realize he had so many good things.

"Alright then, Doctor, please contact them for me."

He wrote down the specific information of the 【Leaf of Eternal Youth】 and the 【Corpse-Hiding Mirror】 in front of the Doctor's desk:

"Ask them which one of these two artifacts they accept. If it's the 【Leaf of Eternal Youth】, they need to pay extra."

Although the 【Leaf of Eternal Youth】 is only poet-level, its price is very high because of its unique characteristics.

"If it's the Corpse-Hiding Mirror, I prefer a direct exchange. If the other party has other conditions, we can discuss it in person."

The secret mission of the Grey Hawk made Xia De a fortune. The 200 crowns and the 1000 pounds that had not yet been collected made Xia De very confident about the transaction. But the price difference between that door and his mirror shouldn't be large, and he could fully accept anything within 100 pounds.

Doctor Schneider nodded:

"Then wait for my good news. The other party can be considered my acquaintance. I will arrange this business, and I will definitely not let you suffer. It's already afternoon, so I guess I can't find anyone. I'll go and ask for you tomorrow morning, and when you come to me to get the key in the afternoon, maybe the deal will have already been negotiated."
