Chapter 104

"My turn, draw."

A golden light appeared in Fujiki You Xuan's Graveyard, and two cards slid out.

"Activate the effects of the two 'Sinister Serpents' in the Graveyard. During your Standby Phase, if 'Sinister Serpent' is in the Graveyard, you can add it from the Graveyard to your hand."

The two cards were drawn from the Graveyard zone and returned to his hand.

The Beetle Knight's face twitched.

Replenished ammunition again...

He had already understood the operation method of that combo on the opposite side; Sinister Serpent is the infinite ammunition for that hellish soldier.

Sure enough, Fujiki You Xuan immediately sent one of the Sinister Serpents he had recovered to his hand back to the Graveyard.

"Activate the effect of 'Abyss Soldier,' by discarding a Water-attribute monster from your hand, you can return any card on the field to its owner's hand.

Therefore, I discard the Water-attribute 'Sinister Serpent'..."

"I knew it!"

The Beetle Knight shouted.

"Open face-down card, Trap Card 'Forgetful'! When a monster on the opponent's field activates an effect in Attack Position, negate that activation, and that monster is changed to Defense Position!"

Yugi: "Eh? But shouldn't he know that Fujiki You Xuan still has the Decree on his field..."

Fujiki You Xuan raised an eyebrow.

With this posture, does it look like he has a countermeasure for the Decree?

"Interesting, then I'll accept the challenge." Fujiki You Xuan said, "Then activate face-down card, Continuous Trap - Royal Decree!

All Trap cards existing on both sides' fields have their effects negated!"

The Decree, recovered by Abyss Soldier, once again displayed its divine power; an invisible pressure swept out, suppressing the entire field.

"As expected!" the Beetle Knight shouted, "Counter Trap - Checkmate!

When a Trap card is activated, negate that activation, and return that card to its owner's deck!"

Sure enough, there was a countermeasure.

Fujiki You Xuan cupped his chin and nodded slightly.

The power of the counter took effect, and the activation of the Decree was forcibly terminated. The Trap card turned into a golden light and shot back into the deck on Fujiki You Xuan's Duel Disk, and the deck shuffled itself.

"Even for 'Royal Decree,' the trap-killer, as long as you negate the activation before the effect applies, there's nothing to fear.

And the effect activated later will be processed first, so when 'Forgetful's' effect is processed, 'Royal Decree' is no longer on the field, therefore the effect of the Trap card 'Forgetful' I activated becomes valid!

According to the effect of 'Forgetful,' the activation of 'Abyss Soldier' is negated, and it is changed to Defense Position!"

The Beetle Knight laughed out loud.

"Stay there honestly, Abyss Soldier!"

The hellish power seemed to be temporarily bound; under the trap's restraint, Abyss Soldier had no choice but to kneel on the ground and crouch down, temporarily changing into a defensive posture.

【Abyss Soldier, ATK 1800 → DEF 1300】

"With this, your combo is broken." the Beetle Knight said triumphantly.

He saw it; whether it's attacking or operating, that Abyss Soldier is the absolute core of the opponent's tactics. As long as you negate the effect of Abyss Soldier, there's nothing to fear.

Next turn, his insect army will launch a desperate counterattack and blow the horn of reversal.

Could it be that you can pull out another Type-3 machine to kill me in seconds?

"Open face-down card, Continuous Trap - Call of the Haunted." Fujiki You Xuan said, "Special Summon a monster from your Graveyard in Attack Position. I choose to revive the other 'Abyss Soldier' in the Graveyard."

Beetle Knight: "..."

The vortex of the Graveyard opened, and transparent water currents burst out from it. The Water-type soldier reached out from the abyss and returned to the field; in the vortex leading to the Underworld beneath him, it was as if gusts of hellish wind were blowing.

Fujiki You Xuan indicated that it's amazing, the pulling is very brilliant.

But what are you going to do about the second one?

Having foreseen the inevitable future about to happen, that beetle face was already twisted: "Don't, don't, I beg you..."

However, he didn't expect that Fujiki You Xuan didn't rush to activate the effect, but calmly revealed another card from his hand.

"Equip Spell 'Blast-Fire Piercing,' equip it to your 'Millennium Scorpion'."

Come, big brother, have a smoke, don't be polite.

Beetle Knight: "?"

At this juncture, what does it mean to suddenly give yourself equipment?

"The monster equipped with Blast-Fire Piercing gains 400 ATK, and when attacking a Defense Position monster, if the ATK exceeds the DEF, it gains piercing defense damage." Fujiki You Xuan said with a smile, "It's a gift, don't be polite."

【Millennium Scorpion, ATK 2500 → ATK 2900】

Millennium Scorpion gains 500 ATK when it destroys a monster in battle, so the ATK rises to 2900.

"But of course, you also know that generally powerful forces come with risks. So 'Blast-Fire Piercing' also has a side effect." Fujiki You Xuan explained with a smile, "When this card leaves the field, the equipped monster must be banished directly from the game."

The Beetle Knight thought for a moment.

When it leaves the field, the equipped monster is banished directly from the game...

He suddenly understood something, and his expression twisted instantly: "You... you, is this what you're going to..."

"You guessed it, unfortunately, no prize." Fujiki You Xuan smiled, "Activate the effect of the second 'Abyss Soldier.' Discard the other Water-attribute 'Sinister Serpent' in my hand, and return any card on the field to its owner's hand.

The one I want to return, of course, is the Equip Spell 'Blast-Fire Piercing'."

The Equip Spell suddenly turned into a golden light and flew back into Fujiki You Xuan's hand.

"Of course, because the owner is me, it will still return to my hand. But because 'Blast-Fire Piercing' left the field, the equipped monster must be banished from the game.

Banish 'Millennium Scorpion' from the game!"

The dimensional crack opened again, and the massive suction force made Millennium Scorpion fly off the ground, directly sucked into it and kicked out of this game.

The Beetle Knight looked at his field, which had become as clean as a blank sheet of paper again, and was speechless.

No...

Why is there such a dog-like combo in the world?

And what kind of dog-like thing would come up with this tactic...

Yugi was also stunned: "Ah, this..."

Although using Abyss Soldier to bounce the opponent's monster can clear the field, the bounced monster returns to the hand and is still a usable resource.

And by combining the effect of Abyss Soldier with the side effect of Blast-Fire Piercing, you can banish the opponent's designated monster on the field without returning it to the hand. And because Blast-Fire Piercing will be bounced back to your own hand and can be reused, and Sinister Serpent can also infinitely self-salvage, the whole process consumes almost no resources.

Although Fujiki You Xuan felt that reaching this step was basically a win, the opponent actually still had cards in hand. In case the opponent printed a Kuriboh to survive and didn't get killed this turn, then compared to directly using Abyss Soldier to bounce Millennium Scorpion back to the hand, this way wasted one more card resource from the opponent.

Yeah, that's it, it's definitely not because sending Millennium Scorpion to another dimension is more fun.

But the opponent doesn't seem to think so.

The Beetle Knight has already given up struggling and put on a mask of pain.

I beg you, just give me a quick death...

He wanted to leave this unfriendly world quickly and be reincarnated.

In the next life, I will definitely never touch cards again.

"Battle." Fujiki You Xuan waved his hand and ordered, "Abyss Soldier's direct attack!"

Watching the sinister soldier rushing over with a sword, the Beetle Knight let out a long breath and closed his eyes.

It might sound a bit ridiculous to say, but after experiencing several turns of monsters being repeatedly bounced, sent to another dimension, and one-sidedly decreed, now that such a straightforward slash was about to fall on his head, what popped into his mind wasn't the fear of death.

But relief.

Great, finally don't have to duel anymore...

【Beetle Knight, LP 1400 → LP 0】
