Chapter 1195

NO. 96 Dark Mist, revive!

"Next, I activate the Spell Card 'Xyz Treasure'!" Dark Mist said. "This card allows me to draw one card from my deck for each Xyz Monster present on the field."

"Currently, there are two Xyz cards on the field, 'NO. 16 Color Ruler' and 'NO. 96 Dark Mist', so I draw two cards from my deck!"

Dark Mist drew two cards.

"Then I set two cards and end my turn." Dark Mist set his backrow.

This turn was still under the confinement of Color Ruler, so Dark Mist could not activate effects or attack. But as the turn ended, this layer of confinement vanished.

The electric arcs that had been churning around the field gradually disappeared, and the purple energy dissipated bit by bit. The dim mist around Dark Mist became dense once again, and even the Xyz Material orbiting him seemed to become a few shades more vivid.

"My turn, draw." Fujiki You Xuan drew a card.

After drawing, he paused for a moment and narrowed his eyes.

"Xyz Reborn is a Trap Card. In fact, you clearly could have waited until my turn to activate this card. Or, if I had tried to blow it away with a card like 'Mystical Space Typhoon', you would have had plenty of time to chain it."

"But you chose to revive Dark Mist during your own turn—even though you couldn't launch an attack this turn even after reviving him. Why?"

Dark Mist remained silent.

Yuma was also stunned: "Yeah, that's right. Wouldn't it have been better to wait until Fujiki You Xuan's next turn to revive Dark Mist? After all, Trap Cards can be used during the opponent's turn."

"Think about it. If he hadn't revived Dark Mist during that turn and instead just set two more cards in his backrow before ending his turn, he would have ended up with no monsters on the field and only set cards, right?" Fujiki You Xuan said.

Yuma was dazed for a few seconds before he suddenly realized: "That's right! If there were only set cards and no monsters on the field, then Fujiki You Xuan would undoubtedly have used the effect of 'Color Ruler' to declare Trap Cards this turn."

Yuma's pupils contracted, and he realized in an instant: "He wanted Fujiki You Xuan to use Color Ruler to declare Monster Cards again!"

In other words, there must be an important trump card hidden among the set traps in the backrow.

"Then what card is hidden in your backrow? Let me take a look." Fujiki You Xuan said. "I activate the effect of 'NO. 16 Color Ruler'!"

"Once per turn, I declare a type of card, and the declared card cannot be used until the end of the next turn."

"This time, I declare Trap Cards!"

Color Ruler swallowed its last Xyz Material, and purple light once again enveloped the entire field. Transparent purple light chains seemed to shoot out from beneath the opponent's field, binding the set cards in the opponent's backrow.

"Heh, nice thought. You guessed right, there is indeed a reversal move hidden in my backrow!" Dark Mist laughed loudly. "But in fact, it doesn't matter whether you declare monsters or traps; I just needed you to activate Color Ruler's effect!"

"I activate my set card, the Trap Card 'Xyz Block'! I can only activate this by removing one Xyz Material from my field to negate and destroy the opponent's monster effect!"

Fujiki You Xuan narrowed his eyes: "So that's it. Is this the reason you revived Dark Mist early?"

Because the activation condition for this trap can only be met when there is an Xyz Monster and an Xyz Material on the field.

"Correct! I remove the Xyz Material from 'NO. 96 Dark Mist'!" Dark Mist said. "Negate and destroy Color Ruler's effect!"

"Disappear, Color Ruler!"

The Xyz Material orbiting Dark Mist was absorbed by the trap, transforming into a golden javelin that blasted toward Color Ruler. Color Ruler's expanding domain was pierced through in an instant, shattering with a boom.

The domain ruptured, and Color Ruler itself was pierced through the chest. Cracks spread across the entire triangular structure at a speed visible to the naked eye until it shattered into pieces.

Yuma: "Ah, Fujiki You Xuan's Color Ruler was..."

In fact, to be precise, it should be his Color Ruler. It's just that he never uses it himself, and combined with the matching art style, even he, the owner, instinctively felt that the master of this monster was Fujiki You Xuan.

"Serves you right! Telling you to play lockdown!" Dark Mist laughed wildly. "Now that Color Ruler is gone!"

"It seems so." Fujiki You Xuan calmly played another card from his hand.

"Then, I proceed to Normal Summon 'Gagaga Magician' from my hand."

The silver-haired magician was summoned to the field, wearing a wizard's pointed hat, with a fluttering skirt, and the character "Gaga" clearly written on his body. The chains wrapped around the magician flew about, clashing and colliding with a clatter.

【Gagaga Magician, ATK 1500】

"Although you took care of Color Ruler, Dark Mist has no Xyz Materials now, so he can't activate effects anymore, right?" Fujiki You Xuan said. "Then, Battle Phase."

"Gagaga Magician attacks 'NO. 96 Dark Mist'."

Gagaga Magician's wand spun in his hand, his arm slashed down, and a magic light sphere blasted toward Dark Mist.

Dark Mist, having lost his Xyz Material, was nothing more than a 100 ATK monster, at best possessing the general resistance of "NO. cannot be destroyed by battle." But even so, that only protects against destruction; the massive battle damage must still be applied.

Dark Mist: "I activate my set card, the Trap Card 'Iktaya's Gale'!"

A bird flew out from the trap into mid-air, flapping its wings. A transparent whirlwind whipped up and blew toward Fujiki You Xuan's side of the field. Gagaga Magician immediately forced himself into a defensive crouch, crossing his arms in front of him.

Dark Mist: "Iktaya's Gale can change all monsters on the opponent's field to Defense Position. Hehe, what a pity. Did you think I hadn't calculated for an attack of this magnitude?"

【Gagaga Magician, ATK 1500 → DEF 1000】

Yuma sighed with regret: "Damn it, we were so close to dealing massive damage."

Fujiki You Xuan, however, was unconcerned: "Then, I proceed to activate the effect of 'Gagaga Magician'."

"This card can choose a level from 1 to 8, and this card can freely change to the chosen level."

"I choose Level 6, changing Gagaga Magician from Level 4 to Level 6."

【Gagaga Magician, LV4 → LV6】

Dark Mist: "Level change?"

Fujiki You Xuan continued: "Next is the monster effect of 'Gagaga Kid' in my hand."

"When there is another 'Gagaga' monster on my field, I can Special Summon this card from my hand. I Special Summon 'Gagaga Kid'."

【Gagaga Kid, ATK 800】

Fujiki You Xuan: "The level of Gagaga Kid Special Summoned by this effect can become the same as the level of another 'Gagaga' monster on the field."

"At this moment, Gagaga Magician's level has become 6, so I also make Gagaga Kid's level 6."

【Gagaga Kid, LV2 → LV6】

Dark Mist: "!"

This play is... Rank 6 Xyz?

This guy, he still doesn't intend to summon Hope?
