Chapter 255

"Fujiki You Xuan, truly an opponent you can't be careless with at all," Amelda muttered. "Even those guys who are called legends might not necessarily have this kind of strength..."

"Ha, that's natural," Mokuba said, hands on his hips.

"It seems if I'm not careful, I'll be the one killed instantly," Amelda smiled. "My turn, draw!"

After drawing, he directly revealed that card in his hand.

"Activate the spell card 'Book of Magic in the Pot', both players draw three cards from their deck." (Original card)

Amelda drew cards, and then a sharp glint flashed in his eyes.

"Equip spell 'Premature Burial', pay 800 Life Points, and revive a monster in my Graveyard in Attack Position!"

【Amelda, LP3200→LP2400】

"I revive 'Disaster Demon' from my Graveyard!"

Disaster Demon has an effect to destroy a card once per turn, and it can destroy both front-row monsters and back-row spell/traps, so it will be a bit tricky if revived.

"Then activate my set card, the trap card 'Transmigration Prophecy'," You Xuan said. "I can select a total of two cards in both players' Graveyards, and those cards return to their respective owners' decks.

I return the 'Disaster Demon' you selected as the target for 'Premature Burial' in your Graveyard, and the 'Lava Golem' in my own Graveyard, to our respective decks!"

"Oh right, if they return to the deck, Premature Burial will lose its target and fizzle," Mokuba's eyes lit up. "This move is impressive, You Xuan."

"It's not that easy," Amelda drew another card from his hand. "Quick-play spell 'Mystical Space Typhoon'! Destroy one spell or trap card on the field."

"Eh?" Mokuba was stunned. "But a trap that has already been activated can't be stopped from resolving its effect even if it's destroyed..."

"No, the card he wants to destroy isn't 'Transmigration Prophecy'," Kaiba said calmly.

Sure enough, Amelda continued: "The card I want to destroy is this one—

—Equip spell 'Amplifier'!"

"Ah!" Mokuba's brain turned, and he instantly realized. "If Amplifier is destroyed, Jinzo's effect will return to being effective for both players. In that case..."

"Transmigration Prophecy will be negated by Jinzo's own effect," Kaiba said.

"Is that the consideration?" You Xuan said. "However, 'Amplifier' has another effect. When this card leaves the field, the equipped monster is destroyed."

A black hurricane swept up the spell in the back row, and a bolt of pitch-black lightning shattered the amplification device on Jinzo's head. Jinzo groaned and exploded, exiting the field.

"Therefore, when 'Transmigration Prophecy' resolves, Jinzo has already exited the field, and the effect will not be negated."

As he spoke, golden light bloomed in the Graveyard zones of You Xuan's and Amelda's Duel Disks, and one card each was ejected.

You Xuan picked up Lava Golem and inserted it into his deck, and the deck automatically shuffled inside the Duel Disk.

Amelda had no choice but to take back Disaster Demon and put it back into his deck to shuffle. Premature Burial lost its target and fizzled.

"Then, use this card once again," Amelda said. "Quick-play spell 'Toy Box'! Discard one card from my hand, Special Summon three 'Machine Tokens'!"

【Machine Token, ATK 0】 x3

"And the card I discarded is the spell card 'Compensation of the Card', and when this card is sent from the hand to the Graveyard, I draw two more cards." (Original card)

Amelda drew two more cards, glanced at them, paused for a moment, narrowed his eyes slightly, and then the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.

"It's been five years since I've used the power of this guy again..."

You Xuan raised an eyebrow.

This statement sounds like a boss is about to appear...

"However, you are indeed an opponent worthy of me using this level of power," Amelda held the card in his hand high. "Activate the spell card 'Magic Space Fusion'! By offering three monsters on my field as Tributes, Special Summon 'Fortress of Magic - Ziggurat' from my deck!" (Original card)

Three pillars of light enveloped the three Machine Tokens on the field.

"Offer three 'Machine Tokens' as Tributes, and transform into the ultimate aerial fortress here—

—Fortress of Magic - Ziggurat, summon!" (Original card)

A huge shadow, at first glance, even looked like dark clouds covering the sky. A massive fortress, exaggerated in size, like a steel giant city suspended in the air, its surface covered with intricate patterns and armor. The airflow beneath the fortress churned endlessly under powerful propulsion, forming spectacular vortices, and the powerful gravitational force seemed to pull the clouds into it.

Fortress of Magic - Ziggurat, summon!

【Fortress of Magic - Ziggurat, ATK 2500】

Amelda's strongest trump card that wasn't released as a physical card in the source material. In the anime, he summoned this fortress when he dueled Kaiba on the plane. You could see that its size was several times larger than the plane Kaiba was riding on; just its size was enough to make one tremble.

"It appeared, this guy again," Mokuba frowned. "I remember this guy's effect is..."

"Unaffected by any spell or trap effects," Kaiba said, crossing his arms. "It is indeed a somewhat tricky monster."

"With this, it's over; even if you have any traps set in the back row, they can't stop it," Amelda chuckled.

You Xuan looked up at the giant fortress: "What an incredible monster..."

"Direct attack from Fortress of Magic!" Amelda shouted.

All the cannons of the fortress moved, pointing downward in unison, like the mouths of standing steel beasts. Following Amelda's order, the accumulated energy erupted, fire shot into the sky, and the sound of the cannons was deafening, pouring down like a storm.

You Xuan: "Activate trap..."

"It's useless," Amelda interrupted. "Traps don't work on Fortress of Magic. Ziggurat is unaffected by any spell or trap effects."

"I know," You Xuan waved his hand. "But the trap I'm activating is this one, trap card - Enemy Alarm! When the opponent declares an attack, Special Summon a monster from my hand to take the attack!"

He played a card while waving his arm.

"I Special Summon 'Demon Dog - Eight Ghost Dog' in Defense Position!"

【Demon Dog - Eight Ghost Dog, DEF 800】

"Hmm, trying to drag it out for one more turn with a defense monster," Amelda said. "Then destroy 'Demon Dog - Eight Ghost Dog'!"

The fortress's artillery fire slammed down, and the demon dog's body was blasted into pieces under the dense firepower.

"Then, activate the effect of 'Demon Dog - Eight Ghost Dog'."

You Xuan drew a card that popped out from his deck.

"When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, add one Level 8 Fiend-Type monster from my deck to my hand."

Amelda frowned.

Level 8 Fiend-Type...

You Xuan smiled and revealed the card he had just searched to his hand.

"I return this card I just shuffled back into the deck, 'Lava Golem', to my hand."

Amelda: "!?"

Why is it this thing again?
