Chapter 269

Field destruction!

Kaiba raised his arm to block in front of him as the two-headed white dragons shattered and dissipated under the dragon-slaying sword energy. He gave a soft "Tch": "Hmph, as expected, a troublesome swordsman."

"It seems that although the Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon has resistance to battle destruction, it is powerless against effect destruction," Gozaburo said. "In front of the Buster Blader, the power of the Dragon tribe is weak."

"Is that so?" Kaiba slowly drew another card from his hand. "You know absolutely nothing about the power of the Blue-Eyes today.

When a Level 8 or higher monster on my field is destroyed, I Special Summon this card from my hand! Appear—

—Deep-Eyes White Dragon!!!" (Original effect)

Breaking out as if from the chaos of the abyss, every scale shone like stars dotting the night sky. The radiant white dragon tumbled into the air, emitting a high-pitched dragon roar.

【Deep-Eyes White Dragon, ATK 0】

"When Deep-Eyes White Dragon is successfully summoned, inflict damage to the opponent equal to the number of Dragon-type monsters in both Graveyards x 600!" (Original effect)

After being released as a physical card, the summoning condition for Deep-Eyes was changed from "when a Level 8 or higher monster is destroyed" to "when a 'Blue-Eyes' monster is destroyed."

The damage-inflicting effect also changed. The physical card version says "this card's Special Summon and damage-inflicting effect are processed simultaneously," while the original version says "inflict damage to the opponent when this card is summoned or Special Summoned." In other words, in the original version, this effect could apply even if it was Tribute Summoned or Special Summoned by the effect of another card.

Furthermore, compared to the anime, the physical version changed the damage inflicted from "Dragon-type monsters in both Graveyards" to "number of Dragon-type monsters in your own Graveyard x 600." The original version even counted the Dragon-type monsters in the opponent's Graveyard.

Of course, Kaiba is using the original anime version now.

"There are six Dragons sleeping in my Graveyard, and there is the 'Dragon Buster Blade' that was just sent to your Graveyard, for a total of seven Dragon-type monsters.

Therefore, the total damage Deep-Eyes White Dragon inflicts on you is 4200 points!"

Deep-Eyes White Dragon spread its magnificent dragon wings, as if opening up an entire starry sky. The stars across the sky were like meteors crossing the heavens, bombarding like cannonballs.

That was the finishing blow from Deep-Eyes; once it connected, it would be an instant kill!

"A nice counterattack, Seto. But my duel and my countermeasures against you have long been arranged without a single flaw," Gozaburo said. "Counter Trap - Damage Polarizer!

Negate the effect that inflicts damage, and both players draw one card from their deck!"

A defensive shield appeared in front of Gozaburo, and the meteor bombardment from Deep-Eyes landed densely on the shield. Fire lit up the sky, but the damage was completely blocked.

"You blocked it, huh?" Kaiba frowned and drew a card from his deck. "Then, the other effect of 'Deep-Eyes White Dragon': this card's ATK becomes the same as one Dragon-type monster in my Graveyard.

Therefore, I gain the ATK of one 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon' in my Graveyard!"

【Deep-Eyes White Dragon, ATK 0 → ATK 3000】

"Are you using the 'Deep-Eyes White Dragon' hidden in your hand to defend against my second wave of attacks? A nice tactic, Seto. But I said, my formation has no flaws. My duel is going a step further.

The Buster Blader combination just now wasn't just to destroy the Dragons on your field. As the cost for Buster Blader's effect, I discarded 'Dragon Buster Blade' to the Graveyard, so now I also have Dragon-type monsters in my Graveyard."

Kaiba narrowed his eyes.

"You guy, what are you plotting?"

"Feeling uneasy? That's to be expected. Because this fulfills the conditions to summon the strongest trump card of this deck, and for you and your Blue-Eyes, the most disastrous Ultimate Swordsman."

Gozaburo raised his hand and shouted loudly.

"The effect of the Trap Card 'Buster Blader's Memories' in the Graveyard activates!

By banishing this card from the Graveyard, I can banish monsters from my Graveyard as Fusion Materials to Fusion Summon the Ultimate Buster Blader!"

"The Ultimate Buster Blader, huh?" Kaiba's mouth curled up. "Interesting."

"You won't be able to maintain such composure after seeing his power."

Gozaburo raised his voice.

"I banish the second 'Buster Blader' discarded by 'Graceful Charity' in the first turn, and the Dragon-type monster 'Dragon Buster Blade' from my Graveyard to Fusion Summon!

When the power of the dragon-slaying swordsman and the dragon combine, the dragon-slaying power passed down through generations will awaken here, shaking the earth! Fusion Summon—

—Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman!!!"

The Fusion condition is Buster Blader plus any Dragon-type monster; only when the power of the dragon is obtained is the power of the dragon-slaying swordsman truly complete.

The energy fluctuations turned into a storm that spread out, and the sword energy ruled the entire battlefield. Even the power of Deep-Eyes had to tremble before it, and even the light on its body seemed to dim a little.

The wind pressure from the sword blade tore through the air, and the sword light split the firmament. The swordsman, evolved to his strongest form, descended holding the giant dragon-slaying sword.

【Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman, ATK 2800】

"Dragon Destroyer Swordsman's ATK increases by 1000 for each Dragon-type monster on the opponent's field and in the Graveyard," Gozaburo said. "There are six Dragon-type monsters in your Graveyard, and 'Deep-Eyes White Dragon' on the field.

Therefore, the total number of Dragon-type monsters on the field and in the Graveyard is seven, so Dragon Destroyer Swordsman's ATK increases by a total of 7000!"

【Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman, ATK 2800 → ATK 9800】

"Furthermore, as long as Dragon Destroyer Swordsman is on the field, all Dragon-type monsters on the opponent's field are changed to Defense Position, and the opponent cannot activate the effects of Dragon-type monsters!"

【Deep-Eyes White Dragon, ATK 3000 → DEF 0】

Kaiba glanced at the Ultimate Swordsman with nearly 10,000 ATK, still crossing his arms with an expressionless face.

"Still unmoved even after this? Fine, then let's start by destroying your proudest White Dragon."

Gozaburo ordered.

"Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman, attack 'Deep-Eyes White Dragon'!"

The Buster Blader's great sword struck out, the sword light appearing to break through space. In the face of that dragon-slaying power, even Deep-Eyes could only helplessly exit the field.

"Furthermore, when Buster Blader attacks a Defense Position monster, it can inflict piercing damage equal to the difference between its ATK and the DEF," Gozaburo said in a deep voice. "Take 9800 points of piercing damage, and let it end here, Seto."

"Is that so?" Kaiba said lightly. "Then I activate the Trap 'Sacred Barrier - Mirror Force'. When the opponent's monster declares an attack, I recover LP equal to that monster's ATK."

【Kaiba, LP 2900 → LP 12700】

Boom!

The sword light fell, and Deep-Eyes White Dragon exited the field as a streak of white light. The overbearing sword energy continued unabated, sweeping across Kaiba's form.

【Kaiba, LP 12700 → LP 2900】

Kaiba's digital body was distorted by the blast, and the image only returned to normal after a moment of distortion. But he stood in place without changing his expression the whole time, even wearing a mocking look on his face.

His expression was as if asking, is that all?

"You blocked it, huh?" Gozaburo said. "However, at this moment, the effect of my 'Buster Blader, the Destruction Swordmaster' on the field also activates.

When an opponent's monster is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, I can equip that destroyed monster to myself as an Equip Card."

He pointed to Kaiba's field.

"Deep-Eyes White Dragon, become my power and equip to the Buster Blader!"

The phantom of Deep-Eyes White Dragon appeared, its transparent form like a dragon soul being forcibly attached to the great sword in the Buster Blader's hand.

"Although the equipment won't boost ATK, you should know by now. 'Buster Blader, the Destruction Swordmaster' has an effect once per turn to send an equipped monster card to the Graveyard to destroy all monsters of the same type on the opponent's field.

In other words..."

"No matter what Dragon-type monster I summon later, as long as you send 'Deep-Eyes White Dragon' to the Graveyard next turn, you can destroy them all, right?" Kaiba said lightly.

"Not bad. And my Buster Blader hasn't attacked this turn yet," Gozaburo waved his hand. "'Buster Blader, the Destruction Swordmaster', direct attack!"

【Buster Blader, the Destruction Swordmaster, ATK 2600】

The sword light crossed the field without any obstruction, slashing across Kaiba's body with one strike.

【Kaiba, LP 2900 → LP 300】

His LP instantly dropped to a flickering candle in the wind, but he still crossed his arms, with the same mockery on his face.

It was still as if he were saying, is that all?
