Chapter 29

Arriving inside the examination hall, You Xuan stood at the high place of the auditorium and looked around, and soon saw several familiar faces.

For example, the Kaiser Zane Truesdale of Duel Academy who was also observing from the high platform, and Alexis Rhodes, the female passerby with the highest appearance rate in GX who was always inseparable from him in the early stage.

And then there was Chazz Princeton, who had already put on the Obelisk Blue school uniform in the auditorium next to him, and his minions.

Like Chazz and Alexis, they belong to the type of students who were recommended, and they were the top students in the middle school of Duel Academy before. Only those who were recommended like this can be promoted to the highest level Obelisk Blue dormitory directly after enrollment.

And other candidates who passed the exam, even if they got full marks in all subjects, can only be assigned to Ra Yellow dormitory. This is why Bastion, although he entered the school with the first-place report card in the anime, only entered Ra Yellow. Only by having excellent subsequent grades and good performance can he have the opportunity to be promoted to Obelisk Blue.

You Xuan looked around, although it was time for the exam, he didn't see a certain familiar jellyfish head.

If there are no accidents, Jaden's train should be late today. At this point, he should have bumped into Yugi Mutou on the road and got a Winged Kuriboh from Yugi-san, Jaden's first spirit card in the main drama, which escorted him in various Shadow Duels in the early stage.

Just looking at the GX story, there is no explanation in the beginning for why Yugi would bump into him on the road and randomly draw a lucky jellyfish head to give a spirit.

But if combined with the later theatrical version "Bonds Beyond Time," it can be guessed that Yugi had already met Jaden who came back from the future many years ago, so in the modern era, he had already regarded Jaden as a comrade-in-arms he had never met.

"Admission ticket number 001, Fujiki You Xuan."

Finally started.

You Xuan got up and walked to the duel field.

Just now when he was watching the battle above, he had already observed that the examiners today were rotating several sets of special examination decks. Different candidates went up and down, and he had roughly figured out those few decks.

Nothing he couldn't handle.

A minute ago, Chazz Princeton and his two minions were sitting in the auditorium.

"According to the grouping, it should be the 001 of this year going up soon." Minion A said, "Don't know who the first place this year is."

Minion B: "Heh, it doesn't matter who it is. The king of the first year this year has already been decided to be Chazz-aniki."

Chazz raised the corners of his mouth and sneered.

"There is only one hegemon of the academy, as the saying goes, one mountain cannot hold two tigers... well, if that guy is excellent enough, it would be nice to use him as an opponent to pass the time. After all, if the hegemony is too easy, these three years in the academy will be boring enough, heh heh..."

"Aniki is right, hahaha..."

The three laughed in unison.

Then they heard the voice broadcast.

"Admission ticket number 001, Fujiki You Xuan, please hurry to the No. 1 field to prepare for the exam, admission ticket number 001..."

The laughter stopped abruptly.

Minion A: "Nani? This name, could it be..."

Minion B: "Aniki!"

The two turned their heads to look at Chazz... but couldn't find him at a glance.

"Eh? Aniki, why did you go under the stool?"

Although the fall hurt a bit, Chazz had no time to care, crawled up from under the chair with his hands and feet, his eyes wide open, staring dead at the No. 1 field.

Then he saw a familiar back entering the field.

The academy hegemon Chazz failed before he even started, and his dream of hegemony turned into a bubble before he even entered the school, replaced by the fear of being dominated by the "Underworld" style...

Why is it you again!?

"Teacher, hello."

You Xuan, who stood still on the field, was very polite.

The examiner was a cold-faced tough guy image, wearing sunglasses and not smiling: "Prepare to duel."

"Okay, teacher."

You Xuan unfolded the Duel Disk, but before he started, he thought of something and couldn't help but frown slightly.

"Wait a minute, teacher. Suppose... just assume, although I win, but you feel unhappy during the duel process, or are dissatisfied with the process itself, is it possible to judge me as failing?"

"Rest assured." The sunglasses examiner was still a poker face, "We examiners have all received professional training and are not the kind of low-quality third-rate duelists. No matter what kind of duel it is, I will not be angry."

After a pause, he added.

"Besides, the one who finally decides the grades is the chief examiner, Professor Vellian Crowler, not me."

"Is that so."

You Xuan felt relieved.

He still remembered Professor Crowler, the man known as the Pot of Greed spirit because of his 90% similarity to the Pot of Greed card art.

Although this professor looked like a villain from the perspective of the early anime, he only targeted poor students. For students with excellent grades, such as Bastion Misawa, even if a baseball hit him directly in the eye socket, he could smile and say it's okay, it's okay, you keep your grades and the teacher will get better soon...

So You Xuan thought that he was the first place in the written test, and Professor Greed would surely not make things difficult for him.

"Duel!" x2

【You Xuan, LP 4000】

【Examiner, LP 4000】

"The first move is on my side, draw a card."

You Xuan drew three cards directly.

"Set one monster card in the front row, and set two face-down cards in the back row. Turn end."

Chazz on the high platform was already suffocating when he saw this opening.

This familiar smell, this atmosphere from the Underworld...

"Then my turn, draw a card." The examiner said, "I Normal Summon 'Gene-Warped Warwolf' in Attack Position."

【Gene-Warped Warwolf, ATK 2000】

As soon as this card came out, You Xuan recognized which set it was among the several examination decks.

A beatdown deck mainly based on Level 4, most of them are Level 4 with 2000+ ATK, and then combined with Equip Spell cards to easily reach 2000 or 3000 ATK to form a field suppression deck.

It can be considered one of the decks that new students find most troublesome in the entrance exam.

At this time, there were onlookers on the auditorium who also said: "Oh look over there, No. 001 encountered that beatdown suppression deck."

"Yeah, fortunately I didn't encounter it. What a unlucky guy..."

Only Chazz clenched his fingers, not saying a word.

Unlucky? No, no, no.

The unlucky one is the examiner on the opposite side.

Actually happened to have a beatdown deck and met this kind of dog thing, it's simply the worst luck in eight lifetimes...

"Attack with 'Gene-Warped Warwolf'!"

The face-down card flipped, it was an old magician holding a green staff.

【Old Vindictive Magician, DEF 600】

"'Old Vindictive Magician', effect activates." You Xuan said, "When this card is flipped, select one monster on the opponent's field and destroy it."

"I destroy your 'Gene-Warped Warwolf'."

The old magician threw a magic bullet before he died, and Gene-Warped Warwolf exploded with a bang.

Gene-Warped Warwolf was taken out by a trap less than ten seconds after appearing, but this was still within the scope of a normal game, and the examiner at this time had not noticed anything wrong.

"Actually a monster with flip destruction ability. Then the Battle Phase ends."

The examiner drew a card and inserted it into the Duel Disk.

"Then activate the Spell card 'Monster Reborn', I can revive one monster destroyed this turn in Attack Position." (Anime effect)

The Spell effect activated, and the vortex leading to the Underworld opened. After a burst of golden light, the dusty Gene-Warped Warwolf returned to the field.

"Activate face-down card, Trap card 'Dark Deal'."

You Xuan pressed the button on the Duel Disk and directly flipped open the back row.

"When the opponent activates a Spell card, pay 1000 Life Points, and I can randomly discard one of the opponent's hand cards."

【You Xuan, LP 4000 → LP 3000】

"Nani?"

The examiner was shocked, and when he looked down at his hand again, one of the cards had disappeared out of thin air with a burst of golden light special effects.

"Not over yet, then chain activate Trap card - Torrential Tribute." You Xuan waved his hand and flipped open another back-row card, "Can be activated when a monster is Summoned, Special Summoned, or Flip Summoned."

"Destroy all monsters on the field!"

The flood roared out from the card, sweeping across the entire field in a mighty way. The poor Gene-Warped Warwolf was rolled into the vortex of the flood again before it could stand firm, and was crushed into powder.

Examiner: "..."
