Chapter 359: Zombie-san, Give Some Effort

"Before your Battle Phase ends, activate set card."

Fujiki You Xuan snapped his fingers.

"Continuous Trap 'Blood Debt'!"

The set card flipped, as if blood was flowing out from the black card image.

"The effect of Blood Debt can only be used during your own Main Phase, or during the opponent's Battle Phase."

Fujiki You Xuan slowly drew a card from his hand.

"So I want to use this effect during your Battle Phase. Pay 500 Life Points to perform a Tribute Summon for a monster in my hand."

"I Tribute 'Magician of Faith' on the field to Tribute Summon this monster in face-down Defense Position."

【Fujiki You Xuan, LP 4000 -> LP 3500】

Magician of Faith dissipated from the field as a burst of golden light particles, but the monster that appeared on Fujiki You Xuan's field instead was a face-down card, its true form hidden beneath the mysterious set card.

Zombie Morita stared straight at the card he had set, only continuing to make vague groans in his throat.

The Battle Phase ended, and then entered Zombie-san's Main Phase 2.

He narrowed his eyes, looking at his hand as if with some difficulty, his long, thick fingers sliding back and forth over several cards, picking one out as if he were picking soldiers.

"Set card... end."

A golden light appeared in his back field, and the set card appeared on the field.

"Then it's my turn, draw."

"Then naturally, it's the card recovered by 'Magician of Faith'."

He played the Magic Card directly.

"Magic Card 'Pot of Greed', draw two more cards from the deck."

Drawing two more, he immediately revealed another card in his hand.

"Magic Card 'Spider Web', can add a card sent to the Graveyard one turn ago to the hand." (Original card)

He pointed to the opponent's Graveyard.

"Add 'Graceful Charity' from your Graveyard to your hand."

White silk threads shot out, sticking to the magic card in the opponent's duel disk Graveyard zone, and flew back into Fujiki You Xuan's hand.

"Then 'Graceful Charity' activates, draw three cards from the deck, then discard two cards from the hand."

Fujiki You Xuan drew three more, then discarded two of them.

"However, one of the discarded cards is 'Scholar Spirit'. When this monster is sent to the Graveyard, draw one card." (Original card)

Fujiki You Xuan glanced at the drawn card, added it to his hand, and then looked at the zombie opposite.

Zombie-san was also looking at him with empty eyes.

"At least there is a clear understanding of the duel rules, but what level of intelligence is it... Let's confirm it a little bit."

Fujiki You Xuan flipped the card he had set on the duel disk.

"Flip Summon the set monster on the field. The set monster is this one..."

A monster like a towering mountain, seemingly made of hard rock, like a Sphinx-shaped mountain rock, appeared majestically on Fujiki You Xuan's field.

"Guardian Sphinx!"

【Guardian Sphinx, ATK 1700】

"Guardian Sphinx effect, when this card is successfully Flip Summoned, return all monsters on the opponent's field to the owner's hand!"

Zombie Morita's eyelids seemed to jump at this moment, and he seemed to glare at Fujiki You Xuan again.

A non-targeting, AOE-type return-to-hand god skill!

The huge Sphinx statue's power activated, and the Thunder Fighter was completely unable to resist, having to fly back to the zombie's hand under the aggressive gaze of the god statue.

Back field returned to hand, front field returned to hand...

The zombie who ate a set of two-stage return-to-hand combos still kept that dull expression like a dead face, and his eyes were just as empty, but he seemed to have a trace of resentment...

No, it might be an illusion.

Fujiki You Xuan supported his chin.

Further confirmation is needed.

"Then Normal Summon 'Rock Sentinel'." Fujiki You Xuan said.

【Rock Sentinel, ATK 1300】

Rock Sentinel, also a card used by Yugi in the theatrical version, is a new vest for the famous first-generation old card "Giant Soldier of Stone" by Yugi.

And the reason why Giant Soldier of Stone is famous is not because of its powerful performance or any amazing effect, but because everyone knows that this card has a powerful hidden effect that is not written on the card.

That is, this card can attack the moon and cause the sea to recede...

"Then Battle Phase." Fujiki You Xuan said, "Direct attack by 'Guardian Sphinx'."

The mountain-like huge body slowly moved forward, as if to use a "Mount Tai Pressing Top" move.

But the zombie had a countermeasure, and slowly raised his head: "Set card... Trap."

The set card in the back field flipped, and the Trap card stood in front of him.

Trap card "Precision Defense".

When the opponent's monster declares an attack, select a monster of level 4 or lower in your Graveyard and Special Summon it in face-up Defense Position.

A card in his Graveyard zone exited with golden light.

"Flying Turtle defense."

【Flying Turtle, DEF 1200】

Sphinx's attack pressed down like a mountain and sea, but the small Flying Turtle stubbornly resisted with its tough body and was not destroyed and exited the field.

"Precision Defense... cannot be destroyed."

The zombie said dryly.

The monster Special Summoned by the effect of Precision Defense cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects within this turn, a layer of iron wall-like defense in the literal sense.

"Cannot be destroyed, then fine, not attacking."

Fujiki You Xuan didn't care, and then smiled politely at the zombie.

"Then, Main Phase 2, activate the effect of 'Guardian Sphinx'."

Fujiki You Xuan waved his hand at the monster on the field.

"Thank you for your hard work, let's cover it back to face-down Defense Position and rest for a while."

Guardian Sphinx's silent body quickly shrank and turned back into the shape of a face-down card.

That card was clearly lying quietly on Fujiki You Xuan's field, but it inexplicably exuded a cold aura, as if a deadly and insidious predator was lurking under the set card.

Zombie: "!"

"Oh, it seems like it understood the situation so quickly again." Fujiki You Xuan was happy.

Guardian Sphinx, because of its own effect, can be flipped back once per turn.

And every time it is Flip Summoned, it can return all monsters on the opponent's field, regardless of quantity or form, to the hand.

Then with the "Catapult Zone" field, even if you summon a powerful monster and want to beat it down, it is very difficult. Even attacking it will trigger the "Catapult Zone" effect to send a Rock-type monster from the deck to replace the destruction.

And the Rock-type monster sent down may trigger various effects—just like the "Intercept Crusader" Fujiki You Xuan just sent from the deck, which can blow away the opponent's back field magic/trap, or cover a monster face-down.

The whole set of lineup reveals a clear concept—

—You can't really play Yu-Gi-Oh today.

The zombie still had that dull expression, empty eyes, but the free hand seemed to clench into a fist at some point...

"Hmm, this is still quite smart."

Fujiki You Xuan continued to observe while supporting his chin.

"Look, you even know how to get angry."

Zombie: "..."

"Sure enough, as expected of a professional duelist turned zombie, the duel comprehension is very high."

Fujiki You Xuan smiled and began to have expectations for him.

"Then I hope you are smarter, so that when the duel ends, you can answer my questions, tell me what happened here, how you became like this, and where the person I'm looking for is..."

"Zombie-san, you have to give some effort, don't let me down."

Zombie: "..."

Fujiki You Xuan drew two more cards from his hand.

"Set two cards, turn end."
