Chapter 52: Death Guardian

"So that's it, a little bit of skill."

The Masked Sorcerer's gaze swept over the two magicians who were guarding the field like guards on Fujiki You Xuan's field, and hummed coldly.

"But after gaining the evolutionary power bestowed by the God, I am now invincible."

"My turn, draw card!"

After the Masked Sorcerer drew a new card, he revealed it directly.

"Then first is the Quick-Play Spell 'Mystical Space Typhoon', destroy the set card in your back row!"

The black whirlwind rolled up, sweeping towards the set card in the back row with lightning.

"Silent Magician's effect." Fujiki You Xuan interrupted, "Once per turn, negate the activation of a Spell Card. Negate the activation of 'Mystical Space Typhoon'!"

The storm stopped abruptly, and dissipated along with the thunder under the protection of the white magic circle.

"Tch, there is such an ability... then activate Spell Card 'Pot of Greed', draw two more cards from the deck."

The sorcerer drew the cards, and then drew two more cards from his hand.

"Spell Card 'Cost Down'. Sacrifice a monster on your field, and special summon a monster that can be normal summoned from your hand!"

"I will send the monster I covered on my field to the graveyard, and then special summon this card!"

The monster covered on the field flipped over; it was a red, gloomy hound, its body dissolving in a storm of shadows, forming the image of some kind of summoning circle.

"Level 7, Holy Night Dragon, summon!"

The storm of holy fire erupted from the summoning circle, and the giant dragon spread its wings and spiraled out onto the field.

【Holy Night Dragon, ATK 2500】

The goblin younger brothers in the back shouted again: "Sorcerer Master is awesome!"

"Summoned such a powerful monster in an instant, that kid has no chance at all!"

"."

The Masked Sorcerer also snorted proudly: "You are very cautious, you didn't attack the monster I covered in the last turn, were you guarding against the flip effect?"

"But it's useless. The monster I covered is 'Magic Dog - Eight Ghost Dog'. When this card is sent to the graveyard from the field, you can add a level 8 Fiend-type monster from the deck to your hand."

"Although you didn't attack it, sending it to the graveyard through 'Cost Down' can also trigger this effect."

The Masked Sorcerer drew the Fiend he retrieved from the deck, and then smiled coldly.

"The Fiend I want to retrieve is exactly this card. After gaining the blessing of the God, the most fierce and evil form after my own evolution—"

"—Masked Beast - Death Guardian!"

Fujiki You Xuan: "."

It turns out this thing counts as your evolutionary form?

It is also a monster that appeared in DM, used by the Light and Dark Mask brothers and Marik. An 8-star Fiend with 3300 attack power, which must be special summoned by sacrificing two monsters on your field, including at least one of 【Masked Sorcerer - Curse of Throat】 or 【Melchid the Four-Face Beast】.

"And I haven't normal summoned this turn." The sorcerer smiled coldly and raised his volume, "Therefore, next, I will normal summon myself!"

"【Masked Sorcerer - Curse of Throat】, summon!"

Sure enough, when the card in his hand was slapped on the Duel Disk, an image like a clone appeared on the sorcerer, and it separated directly to the empty space in the front field.

【Masked Sorcerer - Curse of Throat, ATK 1500】

Ultimate Move: I summon myself!

The picture looks a bit weird, but Fujiki You Xuan is very calm. He knows that this is a traditional part of Yu-Gi-Oh that has to be tasted, and the weirder part is still to come.

"'Scapegoat' summoned Sheep Tokens, although they cannot be used as sacrifices for upper-level summoning, they can be used as sacrifices for other effects."

The sorcerer clasped his hands together, as if chanting some kind of spell, and then shouted loudly.

"Therefore, I sacrifice a 'Sheep Token' plus myself!"

Advanced Ultimate Move: I sacrifice myself!

Only to see the sorcerer's clone and a Sheep Token disappear together, as if swallowed by a rapidly expanding mass of darkness. The chaotic vortex erupted, claws split the darkness, and a bizarre fiend with three masks appeared from the chaos.

【Masked Beast - Death Guardian, ATK 3300】

The crowd of goblin small fry agitated again: "It appeared, the strongest form after Sorcerer Master evolved!"

Some small fry even mocked Fujiki You Xuan directly: "Ha, you are already a dead man, even if you surrender now, it's too late!"

"Not over yet! Next is Spell Card 'Burial Spell Treasure Card', banish 'Pot of Greed', 'Cost Down', and 'Mystical Space Typhoon' from the graveyard, and draw two more cards from the deck!"

After summoning the Masked Beast, the sorcerer's voice seemed to become sharp and distorted.

"Then activate Equip Spell 'Reptile Rage' from the hand, the equipped monster becomes Reptile-type, and attack power increases by 800."

"I equip 'Holy Night Dragon', let Holy Night Dragon's attack power increase by 800!"

【Holy Night Dragon, ATK 2500 -> ATK 3300】

"Hmm?" Fujiki You Xuan frowned.

Holy Night Dragon was special summoned through the effect of Spell Card "Cost Down," and monsters summoned through this effect should not be able to attack this turn.

"Heh, you must be wondering why I strengthened Holy Night Dragon? The answer is this—"

The sorcerer played another card in his hand and shouted.

"Spell Card 'Cross Attack'!"

The Spell Card appeared on his field with rolling golden light, and the golden light shrouded the Holy Night Dragon and the Masked Beast on his field respectively.

"Cross Attack, you can choose two monsters with the same attack power on your field. This turn, one of the chosen monsters can attack directly, while the other monster cannot attack!"

The crowd of small fry realized again.

"So that's it, by increasing the attack power of Holy Night Dragon to be equal to Masked Beast, you can attack directly!"

"Not only that, but the Holy Night Dragon summoned through 'Cost Down' was not supposed to be able to attack this turn, and even this point was utilized..."

"Direct attack with 3300 attack power, this blow will make that kid's life points like a candle in the wind!"

"This is Sorcerer Master's duel, too strong..."

Fujiki You Xuan: "."

It really has the anime-style Combo.

Although he feels that he has touched a little bit of the God Draw way now, and he dares to try to be bolder in construction, he is really not used to this kind of acrobatic Combo for a while.

"I chose to sacrifice Holy Night Dragon's attack at the cost of Masked Beast, so of course, Masked Beast can attack directly!"

The sorcerer laughed sharply and shrilly.

"Use 'Masked Beast - Death Guardian' to attack directly! Feel the power of destruction!"

The huge fiend rushed out, and its claws slashed down at Fujiki You Xuan's head.

But the next moment a miracle happened!

Silent Magician actually jumped out by herself and blocked in front of Fujiki You Xuan! She opened her arms and forcibly blocked the fiend's claws with her slender body, and dissipated into golden light with a pop.

"Nani!" The sorcerer was shocked, "What's the situation? Why would the monster jump out to block the knife by herself?"

"Hehe, this is the bond between the duelist and the monster." Fujiki You Xuan said righteously, "The power of the bond can trigger miracles, guys like you won't understand."

The sorcerer: "???"

What the hell?

He suddenly remembered that he had heard rumors that a Duel King from an unknown world had the terrifying strength to bluff the rules. Could it be that he encountered the legendary...

However, his gaze fell on a trap that was flipped over in the opponent's back row at some point.

Trap Card - Earthbound Spirit's Temptation. When an opponent's monster declares an attack, the target is re-selected by yourself.

"Tch, actually discovered it." Fujiki You Xuan pouted, "Not bad, I re-specified the attack target of 'Masked Beast - Death Guardian' through the trap effect.

Therefore, your attack target changed from me to Silent Magician. And because of the attack just now, I lost 1300 life points."

【Fujiki You Xuan, LP4000 -> LP2700】

The Masked Sorcerer breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, he caught a glimpse of the back row. Good boy, actually wanted to fool him, almost thought he hit the legendary bluff king...

"Saying it so nicely, isn't it just taking your own monster as a wall." The Masked Sorcerer sneered.

Fujiki You Xuan ignored it. Only to see a white magic circle open out of thin air where Silent Magician disappeared. The tide of magic power burst out like a storm, spiraling straight into the sky.

"Nani?" The Masked Sorcerer was shocked again, "Wasn't she defeated?"

"No, all you did was liberate her true power. When Silent Magician is destroyed by battle or the opponent's effect, special summon a 'Silent Magician' monster other than itself from the hand or deck, ignoring the summoning conditions."

"Blooming silent brilliance from the intersection of chaos and order, Light Magician, descend here—"

"—Silent Magician LV8!"

The transparent magic storm rolled up, the white robe fluttered, and the white-robed mage who had just retired from the field fluttered again, and the magic breath overflowing around her was even better than before.

Silent Magician LV8, summon!
