Chapter 528: Unexpected Harvest

"My turn, draw a card!"

It was Melo's turn again.

The attack blockade still hadn't been lifted, and the power the Gladiator Beasts could exert was more than half blocked, and even Caesar, the big brother of the Gladiator Beasts, had been taken down. Although he had restored a large amount of health thanks to Rainbow Life, the situation was still quite unfavorable for him overall.

But there was still a way.

"I Normal Summon 'Gladiator Beast Samnite'!"

With a deep roar, the black bear in heavy armor appeared on the field amidst blooming golden light, its pair of bear paws frantically beating its chest like a chimpanzee.

【Gladiator Beast Samnite, ATK 1900】

The only Normal Monster in the Gladiator Beast family, but it was also seen as a key reinforcement when it was released. Its 1900 ATK was better than the main attacker of the Gladiator Beasts at the time, Gladiator Beast Laquari, and its status as a Level 4 Normal Monster made it easy to use the effect of the Spell Card 'Unexpected Dai' to Special Summon from the Deck, thus becoming an advantage.

"Then, the effect of the other 'Gladiator Beast Darius' in my hand," Melo said. "If there is a Gladiator Beast monster on my field, Darius can be Special Summoned."

"Once again, I Special Summon 'Gladiator Beast Darius' from my hand!"

【Gladiator Beast Darius, ATK 600】

"Although the progress of the duel is different from what I expected, it seems I really have to get serious in a duel with you," Melo said. "You are a duelist favored by talent, Fujiki You Xuan. Your talent alone is enough to make you surpass most people in this world."

"But precisely because of this, I cannot lose even more..."

He paused, narrowed his eyes slightly, and said slowly.

"The Gladiator cards completed with the help of President Pegasus's power are at their best moment to release their power."

"I activate the effect of 'Darius', Tributing this card to return one 'Gladiator Beast' on my field to the Deck, and then I can Special Summon any 'Gladiator Beast' from my Deck!"

The Darius that had just appeared only had time to lick its little paws with its tongue before it was immediately scattered into countless golden light spots and dissipated from the field.

"I return 'Gladiator Beast Samnite' from the field to the Deck, and Special Summon a new Gladiator Beast from the Deck. Appear—"

"—Gladiator Beast Augustus!"

A pitch-black whirlwind rose, and feathers flew all over the sky. The Gladiator's great sword tore the black storm into countless fragments, and the Gladiator king of the beast-warrior type descended in the strong wind, wearing heavy armor.

【Gladiator Beast Augustus, ATK 2600】

"Then, the effect of Gladiator Beast Augustus activates!" Melo said. "It can only be activated when Augustus is successfully Special Summoned by the effect of a 'Gladiator Beast'!"

"I can Special Summon one 'Gladiator Beast' monster from my hand in Defense Position!"

"Darius is not a Gladiator Beast, but it can be considered as being Special Summoned using the effect of a Gladiator Beast, right?" You Xuan said.

"Exactly," Melo said. "However, the monster Special Summoned by Augustus's effect must return to the owner's Deck at the End Phase..."

"But one turn is completely enough!"

Melo revealed another Gladiator Beast card.

"I Special Summon 'Gladiator Beast Equites'!"

With a high-pitched neigh, the horse-faced beast-type Gladiator Beast returned to the field.

【Gladiator Beast Equites, ATK 1700】

"Then, the effect of Equites," Melo continued, "When Gladiator Beast Equites is successfully Special Summoned by the effect of a Gladiator Beast, I can Special Summon a Gladiator Beast from the Graveyard with its effects negated!"

"The Gladiator Beast from your last turn has already returned to the Deck," You Xuan reminded.

"I know," Melo said coldly, "But there is still the Gladiator Beast king who was destroyed by your 'Blaze Accelerator' sleeping in the Graveyard!"

"Return to the field once again, and show your majesty—"

"—Gladiator Beast Caesar!!!" A green tornado rose, and the Gladiator king descended onto the field once again. Only, unlike before, the color on his body seemed a bit dimmer this time, and his momentum was slightly lacking compared to before.

"The Gladiator Beast summoned back to the field by 'Gladiator Beast Equites' must have its effects negated," You Xuan reminded. "Even if you summon Caesar back to the field, you cannot use its effect to destroy Gravity Bind."

"Of course I know that."

Melo snorted angrily, seemingly displeased that You Xuan would doubt his knowledge of the rules.

"Now, I will show you my strongest Gladiator power!"

"I return 'Gladiator Beast Augustus', 'Gladiator Beast Caesar', and 'Gladiator Beast Equites', three Gladiator Beasts, from the field to the Deck, Triple Fusion!"

You Xuan raised an eyebrow.

Wait, this fusion condition... Triple Fusion?

In his memory, the absolute big brother of the early Gladiator Beasts should be Caesar; Caesar was almost synonymous with Gladiator Beasts at that time. If there was any trump card that surpassed Caesar...

"The fusion condition is 'Gladiator Beast Augustus' plus any two Gladiator monsters, Fusion Summon!"

Melo raised his arm high.

"Oh ghosts of the wandering ancient gladiators, gather in the name of the Emperor, and offer up that power!"

"Fusion Summon! Descend—"

!. Read

"—Gladiator Beast Domitianus!!!"

The three Gladiator Beasts disappeared in the vortex. The triple fusion was like the tearing of the boundaries of time and space, and the shouts and roars from the ancient arena almost swallowed everything.

The Gladiator warrior wearing an ancient gladiator helmet, his green body covered in gorgeous blue armor, held a sharp blade, and the blade at the end of his long tail behind him seemed capable of tearing everything apart.

【Gladiator Beast Domitianus, ATK 1000】

"This is..."

You Xuan was also slightly surprised this time.

"So that's it, this is the Gladiator power completed with the help of President Pegasus's power... that shouldn't have existed in this era," You Xuan muttered.

Of course, saying it shouldn't exist in this era is based on his own knowledge. Because in reality, when this card was born, the golden age of Gladiator Beasts had long passed, and Gladiator Beasts were already the nostalgia of old players; this was a reinforcement card from many years later.

But unlike the reinforcements of most other decks, this is a reinforcement card with anime support. "Gladiator Beast Domitianus" first appeared in "Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V".

ARC-V is a magical work in Yu-Gi-Oh!. Because of its low rating, explosive word-of-mouth, and abstract plot, it is generally regarded by card players as an official fan work, but the existence of this work has indeed made many contributions.

For example, its most prominent world-view setting, which for the first time integrated the Fusion Dimension, Synchro Dimension, and Xyz Dimension based on past Yu-Gi-Oh! generations, and introduced a multiverse setting based on summoning methods.

Among them, the Fusion Dimension is a parallel world similar to GX. Old characters from GX, Edo Phoenix and Asuka Tenjoin, appeared in this dimension, but they were also counterparts from a parallel world.

This world also has a Duel Academy, but it is a military academy that invades other worlds through dueling.

And the strongest duelist "Battle Beast" who is regarded as a forbidden weapon sealed in the deepest part of this Duel Academy, and whose power even the ruler of the academy fears, is a user of the Gladiator Beast deck.

The "Gladiator Beast Domitianus" You Xuan is facing now is the trump card of this person in the anime.

"This is getting interesting."

You Xuan narrowed his eyes and looked at the opponent, mainly at the "Gladiator Beast Domitianus" on the opponent's field.

There are really a lot of good things in this guy's deck; I didn't expect there to be an unexpected harvest.
