Chapter 57

"Now that Orichalcos is activated, you have no more chances left. Let this duel become a ritual to sacrifice and revive the Evil God, using you and your beloved fairy!"

Bandit Keith waved his hand, and a Spell card slapped into his Duel Disk.

"First is the Spell card - Fissure! This card can destroy one monster on the opponent's field with the lowest ATK!"

The green Spell card unfolded on Keith's field. The ground in front of Fujiki You Xuan began to shake violently, as if an earthquake were occurring, and a chasm like an abyss cracked open along the ground.

"You only have one 'Silent Magician' on your field." Keith grinned, "What a tragic fate for a magician girl."

"True Silent Magician, effect activate." Fujiki You Xuan said, "Once per turn, I can negate the activation of a Spell card. I negate the destruction of 'Fissure'!"

A white radiance exploded from the center of Silent Magician, and the Fissure card was blown into the air by a transparent magical storm, exploding into powder with a snap. The shattered ground on the field also returned to normal.

"Tch, to think you have such an ability."

Bandit Keith grunted unhappily.

"Then I will proceed to activate the effect of 'Snipe Hunter'!" Bandit Keith said, "Discard one card from my hand, roll a die.

If the result is anything other than 1 or 6, I can destroy one card on the field!"

Die

Fujiki You Xuan remembered that this guy also liked to play with dice. Including his "hiding cards in his sleeves" specialty, this person was a natural gambler.

But clearly, he hadn't gambled against Jonouchi back then.

Snipe Hunter was also a powerful low-level monster with high usage in early Yu-Gi-Oh. As long as the die roll wasn't 1 or 6, it could destroy a card, a two-thirds probability; as long as one's luck wasn't too bad, the success rate was quite high.

"Although the 'Silent Magician' on the front field is also an eyesore..."

Bandit Keith narrowed his eyes, his gaze shifting back and forth between the magician and the set card in Fujiki You Xuan's back row.

"Silent Magician has an effect that increases ATK based on the hand. And you went to the trouble of lowering her ATK to set that card, which means that's a Trap you think is worth it.

Let me think, it's very likely a powerful Trap like 'Mirror Force' that can turn the situation around in one go..."

Fujiki You Xuan: "."

"But MUDA!" Bandit Keith shouted, "I'll make you understand that such shallow Traps are useless before me! Snipe Hunter's effect, Wheel of Fate!"

Although the effect description was a die, based on the monster's design, the die was clearly replaced by the cylinder on his gun. The dark gunman raised his pistol, which had a rotating cylinder at the back. The needle spun wildly several times, gradually slowed down, and finally settled on the number "4".

"The number on the wheel is 4!" Keith laughed loudly, "Therefore, destroy the set card in your back row!"

Hand over your Trap!

The sniper's bullet was loaded, and he fired with a snap. The set card in the back row was pierced and shattered with a crack.

However, there was only a momentary effect when the card was destroyed. Keith caught a glimpse of the card art; it wasn't Mirror Force, and it didn't seem to be any common Trap, at least not one he had seen before.

"Now your back row is empty." Bandit Keith said, "Then I activate the Spell card 'Fiend's Sanctuary' from my hand, Special Summoning one 'Metal Fiend Token' to my field!"

【Metal Fiend Token, ATK 0】

"Then I activate the Continuous Spell 'Card of Sanctity'. Now, whenever I successfully perform a Tribute Summon using two or more monsters, I can draw two cards from my Deck!"

"Next, I use 'Metal Fiend Token' and 'Snipe Hunter' as Tributes, Tribute Summon!

Let the roar of metal bring eternal nightmares to the enemy! Level seven—

—Barrel Dragon, summon!"

The two monsters were dismantled and sacrificed, the released energy condensing in the storm of the summon. The flying particles combined into a pitch-black, heavy steel form, with three pitch-black gun barrels like heavy cannons, sharp fangs, the sound of gears meshing and metal grinding; the steel dragon stepped onto the field.

【Barrel Dragon, ATK 2600】

This was also the trump card in Bandit Keith's hand that had appeared in the anime.

"According to the effect of 'Card of Sanctity', I draw from my Deck!"

Bandit Keith drew two cards.

"The effect of 'The Seal of Orichalcos'! All monsters on my field gain 500 ATK, therefore 'Barrel Dragon's ATK increases!"

【Barrel Dragon, ATK 2600 → ATK 3100】

"Now it exceeds your magician." Keith chuckled, "Battle! 'Barrel Dragon', attack 'Silent Magician'!"

The three cannons on Barrel Dragon's shoulders turned in unison, emitting the sound of heavy mechanical structures operating and grinding. The three barrels locked onto the Silent Magician on Fujiki You Xuan's field.

"At this moment, Barrel Dragon's effect activates!" Keith shouted, "When 'Barrel Dragon' attacks, I can toss three coins.

This turn, this card can attack a number of times equal to the number of heads!" (Anime effect)

The three barrels locked on, followed by the sound of bullets loading and the cylinder of the revolver rotating. Similarly, although it was said to be tossing coins, the performance in the holographic system was the rotation of the cylinder.

After loading was complete, two of the cannons glowed with golden light.

"Heh, looks like I got two hits. This turn, 'Barrel Dragon' can attack twice." Keith laughed loudly, "And you only have 2500 Life Points, and your set card has been cleared, so this should be the end, right!

This is the absolute power of Orichalcos, tremble under this power!

Barrel Dragon's attack!

Deadly Revolver!"

First was the first shot, as the cannon on the left side of the revolver dragon poured out deadly tongues of fire.

"Then at this moment, I activate a Trap card from my hand!" Fujiki You Xuan waved his hand, and the Trap card appeared in the data stream in front of him, "Magic Cylinder!"

"Nani?" Keith was shocked, "Activating a Trap from your hand!?"

How is that possible?

"You don't seem to recognize the Trap card you just destroyed."

Fujiki You Xuan's Duel Disk Graveyard zone ejected the set card that had just been blown up.

"This card is the Trap card 'Cross Counter Trap'. The turn this card is sent to the Graveyard by an opponent's effect, at most once, I can activate a Trap card from my hand." (Anime card)

"To think it was something like this!?" Keith's face looked ugly.

"Therefore, according to this effect, I activate 'Magic Cylinder' from my hand, negating the opponent's attack and dealing damage to the opponent equal to that monster's ATK!"

The gorgeous magic cylinders had already appeared on Fujiki You Xuan's field. The revolver's cannon fire blasted into one of the magic cylinders, and just half a second later, the other magic cylinder flipped over, reflecting the dazzling tongues of fire back at him.

"Ugh!"

Taking the Orichalcos-enhanced cannon fire from his own monster directly, Keith's face twisted into an abstract expression, and he was knocked to the ground by the blast, black smoke rising from his chest and abdomen.

【Bandit Keith, LP 4000 → LP 900】

"Damn it..." Keith gritted his teeth.

He realized he had still underestimated his opponent.

Going to the trouble of lowering Silent Magician's ATK just to set a back row was in itself a hint to him that "this Trap is very important." He thought he had seen through the opponent's intentions, but in reality, the opponent had seen through the intentions he thought he had seen through.

Intentionally leading him to destroy the back row, but in reality, it was a double Trap, and the real Trap was actually hidden in his hand...

What a sinister brat.

Keith took a deep breath, sat up, and looked at him coldly.

"I underestimated you." Bandit Keith said in a low voice, "Cunning kid, but that doesn't change anything. And because you used up a 'Magic Cylinder' from your hand, Silent Magician's ATK must decrease again!"

【Silent Magician, ATK 3000 → ATK 2500】

"The battle isn't over yet, my 'Barrel Dragon' still has a second attack.

Aiming at Silent Magician again, Deadly Revolver!"

The pitch-black cannon barrels were set up again, and the cannon fire blasted out with a boom. This time there were no obstacles, and Silent Magician took the impact head-on, turning into golden light and temporarily leaving the field.

【Fujiki You Xuan, LP 2500 → LP 1900】

"But at this moment, Silent Magician's effect also activates." Fujiki You Xuan said, "When Silent Magician is destroyed by battle or an opponent's effect, I can Special Summon one 'Silent Magician' monster other than itself from my hand or Deck, ignoring its summoning conditions.

Blooming with silent radiance from the intersection of chaos and order, Magician of Light, descend here—

—Silent Magician LV8!"

The energy released after Silent Magician was destroyed did not dissipate, but reorganized into a white magic circle. A more surging magical vortex erupted from it, white light shot into the sky, and the Silent Magician, having changed her outfit, spun and returned to the field with a face as cold as frost.

【Silent Magician LV8, ATK 3500】

"Tch, to think it actually evolved and leveled up? Troublesome brat."

Keith muttered, then waved his hand to play another card.

"Then I activate the Spell card 'Card of Sanctity'! In the turn I performed a Tribute Summon, I draw two cards from my Deck. But the cards drawn by this effect cannot be used this turn, and if I can set them, I must at least set one card on the field." (Original card)

Keith drew two cards: "Because I Tribute Summoned 'Barrel Dragon' this turn, I draw from my Deck!"

Then he drew one of them.

"Then I set one card on the field, and my turn ends."
