Chapter 590

The next shot?

A shot of what?

Rei began to get nervous.

Thousand-Eyes Restrict had clearly already been destroyed...

"Effect of Apprentice Magician." Fujiki You Xuan said leisurely, "Once per turn, remove Spell Counters from yourself to Special Summon a Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand or Graveyard with a Level equal to the number removed."

He pointed at the first Apprentice Magician.

"Apprentice Magician No. 1, because you activated 'Pot of Greed' and 'Cupid's Kiss' last turn, it has four counters on it.

I remove one of them to Special Summon a Level 1 Spellcaster-Type from the Graveyard.

Be resurrected—

—Thousand-Eyes Restrict!"

The green-robed female magician closed her eyes and began to chant the incantation, and the ancient characters floated onto the field following her chanting, as if rising and falling in mid-air.

Those characters gathered together, forming a ring, emitting a mysterious green magic circle. Then, darkness surged in the center of the magic circle, quickly filling the entire circle, as if even that sacred magic had been polluted, turning into a muddy abyss.

Subsequently, countless eyes opened simultaneously within that abyss! A massive giant with a dark aura rising from its whole body slowly rose from within, a thousand eyes rotating, and the horrific aura dominated the entire field.

Thousand-Eyes Restrict, resurrected!

【Thousand-Eyes Restrict, ATK 0】

Rei: "???"

Right now, besides shock and the fear dominated by this underworld performance effect, her mind was filled with nothing but question marks.

Ah?

This thing is a Spellcaster-Type?

"Effect of Thousand-Eyes Restrict." Fujiki You Xuan snapped his fingers and smiled, "Once per turn, absorb one monster on the opponent's field as equipment."

This is the power of not having a "card name once per turn" limit.

It seems Thousand-Eyes Restrict's effect can only be activated once per turn, but as long as you summon a card with the same name, or resurrect it after sending it to the Graveyard, this usage count resets.

In other words, as long as you can make it "zombie" infinitely within one turn, its usage limit can be ignored. You can absorb as many monsters as you want in one turn.

This is also why modern Yu-Gi-Oh says that those without card name usage limits are monsters. If a card is marked with "This card name's effect can only be activated once per turn," then even if it is sent to the Graveyard and resurrected, its effect cannot be used again.

The Maiden in Love struggled with all her might, but in the end, she couldn't escape those dark tentacles and could only cry out as she was absorbed in full view of everyone, once again corrupted into a part of the darkness.

Rei bit her lip.

But even so, it could only absorb one. She still had two Maidens in Love; as long as one remained, she was invincible.

"Effect of Apprentice Magician No. 2." Fujiki You Xuan said unhurriedly, "Remove one Spell Counter to resurrect a Level 1 Spellcaster-Type from the Graveyard to the field.

I remove one counter to resurrect this one-star Spellcaster from the Graveyard. Come back to the field too—

—Relinquished!"

The dark mud erupted again, and the horrific single eye opened in the abyss. That indescribable, terrifying body slowly rose, and the rotating eyeball seemed to contain a curse for the entire world.

Rei was almost about to cry.

No...

Why the hell is this thing also a Spellcaster?

Where does this thing look like a Spellcaster?

She now had deep doubts about the Father of Duel Monsters who printed these two underworld monsters...

"Effect of Relinquished, once per turn, absorb a monster on the opponent's field as equipment." Fujiki You Xuan said with a smile.

Hand over your Maiden in Love to me.

"Absorb the second Maiden in Love."

Relinquished's single eye widened instantly, and the horrific darkness was released again, transforming into countless tentacles that wrapped around the maiden. The beautiful girl struggled with tears in her eyes again, and finally was helplessly swallowed by the darkness and absorbed by Relinquished.

Rei turned her head away, not daring to look at this cruel holographic performance, while stroking her heart to force herself to calm her breathing.

Calm down, there's nothing to be afraid of.

In this way, both Relinquished and Thousand-Eyes Restrict have absorbed one; she still has the last Maiden in Love, the last remaining one.

As long as one exists, the absolute defense still holds. The Maiden in Love cannot be destroyed by battle, and Soul Barrier ensures she won't take any damage...

"Activate Equip Spell 'Wonder Wand'." Fujiki You Xuan said calmly, "Equip it to a Spellcaster-Type monster on my field; the equipped monster gains 500 ATK.

I equip Wonder Wand to 'Relinquished', letting it gain 500 ATK."

Rei's pupils contracted, and many spectators outside the field gasped in unison.

Because they all clearly knew that the key effect of Wonder Wand is in the second half of the sentence, not in adding this insignificant 500 ATK.

Everyone realized the cruel move the Lord of the Yellow Robe was about to make...

"The other effect of Wonder Wand is that by sending this card and the equipped monster to the Graveyard, I can draw two cards from the deck."

Fujiki You Xuan pointed casually at Relinquished on the field.

"Send this card and Relinquished to the Graveyard. Draw two cards."

Rei: "!"

She immediately realized what this meant.

Fujiki You Xuan had three Apprentice Magicians on his field. Apprentice Magician can resurrect a Spellcaster-Type of the corresponding Level from the Graveyard by removing Spell Counters from itself.

And Relinquished is only Level 1, so it only needs one Spell Counter to be resurrected. And the counters on these three Apprentice Magicians could simply be said to be inexhaustible...

So it means Relinquished has three extra lives every turn!

And Relinquished "absorbs one monster once per turn," but if it goes to the Graveyard and returns to the field, this state resets. So it can absorb another monster again.

In other words, Wonder Wand sends Relinquished to the Graveyard, and then Apprentice Magician No. 3 lets it resurrect again, and it can eat the last Maiden in Love...

No, absolutely cannot let this happen!

"Activate face-down card, Trap Card 'Dust Tornado'! Destroy one Spell or Trap Card on the field!"

Rei shouted.

"Before 'Wonder Wand' activates its effect, destroy this equipment!"

Wonder Wand was swept up by the storm, blown into mid-air, and shredded to pieces.

"Beautiful response." Misawa nodded, "Although Relinquished can resurrect infinitely, if there's no way to send it to the Graveyard, the state cannot be reset, and it can't absorb the last Maiden in Love."

Having said this, Misawa paused, then showed a look of regret.

"Well, what a pity, it can only go this far, right?"

One can only say the newcomer tried her best.

!. Read

It's just that the opponent doesn't act like a human at all.

"Impressive, impressive."

Fujiki You Xuan smiled and applauded Rei's countermeasure.

Then he continued to say with a smile.

"But did you forget, I still have this card on my field."

He pointed at the Spell in the back row.

"Continuous Spell 'Magical Dimension Barrier'. Previously, this card already had three Spell Counters, and every time a Spellcaster-Type is destroyed, it gains one Spell Counter.

When 'Thousand-Eyes Restrict' was destroyed this turn, its counters already reached four, which is also the maximum number of counters this card can hold."

Rei was stunned for a moment.

"Then I activate the effect of Magical Dimension Barrier. Send this card and one Spellcaster-Type monster on the field to the Graveyard, and draw cards equal to the number of Spell Counters—which is drawing four cards."

Rei was instantly petrified.

Send a Spellcaster-Type to the Graveyard...

Ah?

"I send 'Relinquished' and Magical Dimension Barrier to the Graveyard, and draw four cards."

Fujiki You Xuan drew four cards in one breath, then said faintly.

"Then the effect of Apprentice Magician No. 3. Remove one Spell Counter to resurrect a Level 1 Spellcaster-Type from the Graveyard. Come back to the field again—

—Relinquished!"

Right at the spot where Relinquished had just exited, massive darkness was released, and the huge single eye in the darkness suddenly opened, its eyeball rolling around.

As if saying, "Hehe, didn't expect that, did you? Grandpa left, but Grandpa is back again."

【Relinquished, ATK 0】

Rei: "..."

She had no more cards to play.

And nothing more to say.

"Just as I said, I will not show mercy nor will I go easy. So... sorry, Student Saotome."

Fujiki You Xuan smiled.

"Effect of Relinquished, once per turn, absorb a monster on the opponent's field. Absorb the last 'Maiden in Love'."

Once per turn, but now this explanation of the limiting condition seemed to be mocking.

The single eye opened suddenly, and the darkness transformed into countless tentacles again, releasing and binding the helpless maiden's limbs, dragging her violently into that deep darkness.

The whole field was silent, with only the maiden's helpless crying echoing on the field.

Even Principal Sheppard's mouth couldn't help but twitch.

Hmm, must report this to President Pegasus when I get back.

Let him change the holographic performance animation of this Relinquished; this is just too dark...

"Battle." Fujiki You Xuan said, "Direct attack with two 'Apprentice Magicians'."
