Chapter 798: Chain Ring Dragon

"My... my turn."

Warden Ying Qi stood up, his body trembling, and reached slowly toward the deck on his Duel Disk.

But before drawing, he hesitated.

Should he... surrender?

Although he always tormented the prisoners in the detention center and took pleasure in their screams, he had never suffered such treatment himself. After this ordeal, he was already on the verge of a mental breakdown.

He had thought more than once that he should just end it like this.

Surrender. As long as he gave up, he wouldn't have to suffer anymore, wouldn't have to endure this kind of torture.

But then he reconsidered.

An extraordinary promotion—this was likely... no, it definitely was the only chance he would ever have in his life.

Besides, he only had 500 LP left. Even if he ultimately lost, the opponent could at most shock him one more time, because with such a flickering candle of life, one more instance of damage should be enough to finish him off.

Conversely, if he gave up here, wouldn't all the suffering he had endured so far be for nothing?

And looking at the duel so far, the opponent's LP was still at 3900, which was practically just a scratch.

Warden Ying Qi gritted his teeth.

If he gave up this duel today, given the vast disparity in their status, he wouldn't even dare to dream of taking revenge on the Chief for today's electric torture in the future. Thus, this duel was his only chance.

"Draw!"

Having made up his mind, Warden Ying Qi regained his fighting spirit.

"I Normal Summon the Tuner monster 'Chain Coil Man'!"

【Chain Coil Man, ATK 1100】

"A Tuner monster," Fujiki You Xuan said. "Oh? Are you going to attack with everything you've got?"

"That's right, I'll show the Chief my full power this turn!"

Warden Ying Qi declared.

"Next, I activate the monster effect of 'Chain Repairman'!

Once per turn, Repairman can Special Summon one 'Chain' monster of Level 4 or lower from my Graveyard, other than 'Chain Repairman'!

Revive from the Graveyard, 'Chain Chain Snake'!"

Repairman swung the iron chain in his hand, which disappeared into the ground and soon dragged the previously defeated Chain Snake back onto the field.

【Chain Chain Snake, ATK 800】

"Since I used this effect, 'Chain Repairman' cannot attack this turn," Warden Ying Qi said, "so I change 'Chain Repairman' to Defense Position."

【Chain Repairman, ATK 1600 → DEF 1200】

Repairman was now protected by both "Soul Anchor" and "Metal Shell," making him an impregnable fortress in Defense Position.

"Then, Level 3 Tuner monster 'Chain Coil Man'!

Level 3 'Chain Chain Snake'!

Tuning!"

【3 + 3 = 6】

"Synchro Summon—

—Chain Ring Dragon!"

Starlight released from the Synchro rings, and a thick, heavy metal chain crashed onto the ground, sparks flying everywhere. A giant dragon wrapped in chains flew out from the radiance!

【Chain Ring Dragon, ATK 2500】

"Ho," Fujiki You Xuan said. "Is this the ace of the Chain deck?"

"That's right, and Chain Ring Dragon's ATK increases by 200 for every 'Chain' monster in my Graveyard!" (Anime effect)

In the OCG, it requires banishing all Chain monsters from the Graveyard, and the boost only lasts until the end of the turn, making it much weaker.

Warden Ying Qi said: "I currently have 'Chain Chain Snake' and 'Chain Coil Man' in my Graveyard, so its ATK increases by 400!"

【Chain Ring Dragon, ATK 2500 → ATK 2900】

Warden Ying Qi said: "Next, I activate the Continuous Spell 'Paralysis Chain'!

While this card is on the field, each time a card is sent from the opponent's deck to the Graveyard by a card effect, the opponent takes 300 damage!

And now, Battle! 'Chain Ring Dragon', attack 'Seven Sword Warrior'!"

Chain Ring Dragon's breath shattered the warrior's armor. Seven Sword Warrior tried his best to block, but was ultimately inferior in power and was soon blown to pieces by the dragon's breath.

【Fujiki You Xuan, LP 3900 → LP 3300】

Warden Ying Qi looked expectantly at the electric shock hitting the Chief, eager to see the Chief lose his composure. However, Fujiki You Xuan just smiled and closed his eyes, letting the current pass through him without much reaction.

Warden Ying Qi was shocked.

Can't the Chief feel pain? Is he a monster?

No, it must be that the damage wasn't enough.

"At this moment, Chain Ring Dragon's effect!" Warden Ying Qi continued. "When it destroys an opponent's monster by battle, send cards from the top of the opponent's deck to the Graveyard equal to that monster's Level!

Seven Sword Warrior is Level 7, so send seven cards from the top of your deck to the Graveyard!"

Seven more cards flew from the top of Fujiki You Xuan's deck into the Graveyard.

"At this moment, the effect of the Continuous Spell 'Paralysis Chain'!" Warden Ying Qi said. "Because cards were sent to the Graveyard, take 300 damage!"

【Fujiki You Xuan, LP 3300 → LP 3000】

Fujiki You Xuan closed his eyes again, still showing no reaction.

"This guy..." Warden Ying Qi swallowed hard.

Can he really... feel nothing?

"Is that it?"

Fujiki You Xuan opened his eyes and smiled.

"Turn... turn end."

"Well, then it's my turn."

Fujiki You Xuan said.

"My turn, draw.

During the Standby Phase, the effect of the Spell Card 'Takeover5' in the Graveyard. Banish this card and another copy from my deck to draw one card."

Fujiki You Xuan drew another card.

"Next, I Normal Summon 'Leaf Fairy'."

A tiny green fairy jumped onto the field, hands on its hips. Its entire body was made of green leaves, and its head was a giant leaf that swayed as if in the wind, looking like it could be blown away at any moment.

【Leaf Fairy, ATK 900】

"Then I activate the Continuous Trap 'DNA Surgery', changing the Type of all monsters on the field to the Type I declare."

Fujiki You Xuan snapped his fingers, and the Trap Card flipped face-up.

"I declare Warrior-Type.

All monsters on the field become Warrior-Type."

Warden Ying Qi wondered: "All become Warrior-Type?"

"That's right," Fujiki You Xuan smiled. "Next, I activate this card—

—Equip Spell 'Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade'!

This card can only be equipped to a Warrior-Type monster, increasing its ATK by 300. I equip this card to the now-Warrior-Type 'Leaf Fairy'."

【Leaf Fairy, ATK 900 → ATK 1200】

Warden Ying Qi was confused.

He went through the trouble of changing the Type just for this? A mere 300 ATK boost—what is the point of this?
