Chapter 813: Autistic Seed Player

"If you like flowers so much, I'll give you a few more."

Fujiki You Xuan smiled and waved his hand again.

"Now, activate the monster effect of 'Hu Luobo Man' from the graveyard."

A phantom of the monster card appeared on Fujiki You Xuan's field. Qiu asked, "Did you just send another monster to the graveyard with your Sixth Sense?"

"Yes," Fujiki You Xuan said. "Hu Luobo Man's effect: once per turn, if this card is in the graveyard, you can send one other Plant-type monster from your hand or face-up on the field to the graveyard, and then this card can be special summoned from the graveyard."

Fujiki You Xuan displayed a Plant-type card from his hand and sent it to the graveyard.

"Special summon 'Hu Luobo Man' from the graveyard."

【Hu Luobo Man, ATK 1900】

Qiu: "Black Garden's effect halves Hu Luobo Man's ATK!"

【Hu Luobo Man, ATK 1900→ATK 950】

Qiu: "Black Garden's effect: I special summon another Rose Token on my field."

【Rose Token, ATK 800】

"Then, activate the continuous trap 'Rose Fire'!" Qiu shouted loudly. "Hu Luobo Man is also a Plant-type—when summoned, it inflicts 500 damage!"

Amid fluttering rose petals, another vortex of flame coalesced, and a burst of fire swept over Fujiki You Xuan.

【Fujiki You Xuan, LP 3000→LP 2500】

"Now, battle phase," Fujiki You Xuan said. "Chunji·Titania, attack 'Plant Girl'."

【Chunji·Titania, ATK 1400】

【Plant Girl, ATK 1300】

Titania's ATK was halved by Black Garden, but Plant Girl had been summoned before Black Garden activated and thus avoided the debuff. Still, Titania's ATK remained slightly higher.

Countless crimson petals swirled through the air, wrapping around Plant Girl. With a thunderous boom, her body exploded amid the flying flowers, instantly becoming a massive fireball.

【Qiu, LP 4000→LP 3900】

The shockwave surged toward Qiu. Though only 100 damage, the sting made her body sway involuntarily backward.

"What?" Qiu touched her heaving chest, startled. "This force—the impact of direct damage. Is this really a Psychic Duel?"

Yet she knew Psychic Duels well, and something felt off—this wasn't quite like the Psychic Duels she knew. Especially this searing pain that struck straight into the soul—it didn't feel like pure physical destruction.

It was something stronger. Something more terrifying.

Qiu clenched her teeth.

This opponent was no ordinary foe.

"Activate Plant Girl's monster effect," Qiu said. "When this card is sent from the field to the graveyard, you can add one Plant-type monster with 1000 or less DEF from your deck to your hand."

One card from Qiu's deck was automatically retrieved and drawn: "I add 'Phoenix Flower Seed' with 0 DEF from my deck to my hand!"

Fujiki You Xuan said: "Now, Hu Luobo Man, attack the Rose Token."

【Hu Luobo Man, ATK 950】

【Rose Token, ATK 800】

The carrot-like creature strode forward and plunged its carrot like a dagger straight into the center of the Rose Token's stamen.

The vibrant rose writhed violently, its vines thrashing—but soon the carrot pierced its vital point, and its struggles faded until it finally shattered with a pop.

【Qiu, LP 3900→LP 3750】

"I set one card face-down. End my turn."

"This level of pain," Qiu said grimly, "is nothing compared to what I'll return to you!"

"My turn, draw!"

"I summon 'Phoenix Flower Seed'!"

The Plant card Qiu had just drawn appeared on the field—its form resembled a dim-witted eye, slowly opening and scanning its surroundings, with a cluster of fiery red leaves atop its head.

"Because I summoned a monster, Black Garden's effect: special summon a Rose Token on your field!" Qiu said.

Vines surged toward Fujiki You Xuan's field and took the shape of a Rose Token.

【Rose Token, ATK 800】

"And of course, the Rose Token is also a Plant-type monster," Qiu said. "Since a Plant-type was special summoned on your field, activate the continuous trap 'Rose Fire'!"

"500 damage!"

Another burst of flame erupted, striking Fujiki You Xuan directly.

【Fujiki You Xuan, LP 2500→LP 2000】

Fujiki You Xuan rubbed his chin, murmuring: "Black Garden plus Rose Fire turns it into 'whenever you summon a monster, your opponent takes 500 damage'? Impressive."

In the early anime, Yizhiye's Plant-type deck did lean toward self-sacrificial burn damage—quite the sinister potential.

Fujiki You Xuan gave a slight nod.

A promising opponent.

Qiu continued: "Phoenix Flower Seed's effect: send this face-up card on the field to the graveyard to special summon 'Phoenix Saffron' from your hand!"

"I send Phoenix Flower Seed to the graveyard. Summon Phoenix Saffron!"

A towering inferno like writhing chains shattered space; colossal burning petals erupted from the scorched earth. The blooming petals resembled countless wriggling fire serpents, their flames swirling in a vortex around its body.

【Phoenix Saffron, ATK 2200】

Fujiki You Xuan raised an eyebrow.

There it was—the most famous Plant monster in Yizhiye Qiu's deck: Phoenix Saffron.

Saffron is banned, though.

But that's in the future. In the Link Era, Saffron got caught in some insane one-turn-kill loop and was banned outright.

It's not uncommon for old cards to suddenly be banned after the Link Era when they're unexpectedly tied into some specific combo. Usually, cards without a "once per turn" restriction get this extra punishment—they're high-risk offenders.

Phoenix Saffron was exactly such a monster.

"Black Garden's effect," Fujiki You Xuan reminded her. "Even your own summoned monster suffers the side effect. Phoenix Saffron's ATK is halved."

Vines snaked out from all sides, binding Phoenix Saffron, and its ATK plummeted.

【Phoenix Saffron, ATK 2200→ATK 1100】

Qiu said: "But since I summoned a new monster, Black Garden's effect: special summon another Rose Token on your field!"

Another rose bloomed on Fujiki You Xuan's field, becoming a Rose Token.

Of course, it was in attack position. All Tokens summoned by Black Garden appear in attack position—you can't choose their form.

"Since another Plant-type was special summoned on your field, activate the continuous trap 'Rose Fire'!"

Qiu waved her hand and shouted.

"500 damage!"

【Fujiki You Xuan, LP 2000→LP 1500】
