Chapter 863: So strong, too strong

"Summoning 'Wisdom Attack Unit 5'!"

【Wisdom Attack Unit 5, ATK 2000】

Placido: "Because the Machine Emperor parts on the field have been replaced, the ATK of Machine Emperor Wisel ∞ also rises accordingly!"

【Machine Emperor Wisel ∞, ATK 5000 → ATK 5800】

"And the effect of 'Wisdom Attack Unit 5'!" The Ghost controlled by Placido bared a ferocious grin. "When a monster with '∞' in its name on my field battles, this card allows me to double the battle damage dealt to the opponent!"

"Double the battle damage."

Fujiki You Xuan's expression shifted.

"Wisdom's ATK is now 5800. Destroying Black Luster Soldier would originally be 2800 points of battle damage."

Doubling that means 5600 in one go!

"Not bad! This is the power of the Machine Emperor, the ability to kill in an instant!" Placido laughed loudly. "Just as I said, perish under the power of the foolish Machine Emperor you use yourself!"

"'Machine Emperor Wisel ∞', attack Black Luster Soldier!"

"Stardust Sword Slash!"

The dragon soul of Stardust emitted a dragon roar, slashing out as the Machine Emperor's attack unit swung its blade. The transparent sword Qi carved long cracks along the track, spreading toward where Black Luster Soldier stood.

If this strike connected, it would be a finishing blow!

Yet, at this very moment, facing this lethal sword strike.

The tension on Fujiki You Xuan's face vanished instantly, replaced by a mischievous smirk as if to say, "You've fallen for it."

"Nani?" Placido was startled.

"Absorbing Synchro Monsters to gain super-powerful boosts, possessing the ability to OTK when facing Synchro users—it is indeed terrifying."

"However, powerful strength must be used with caution. Otherwise, things like this happen very easily."

Fujiki You Xuan slowly raised his arm and waved his hand.

"Activate face-down card, Trap Card 'Dimension Wall'!" Fujiki You Xuan said. "Activate when an opponent's monster declares an attack; make the opponent take the battle damage instead of me!"

"Take it instead... I see." Placido understood in an instant.

No wonder this guy seemed to know the Machine Emperor's effect yet still left the Synchro Monster Stardust Dragon on the field. Stardust Dragon's very existence was meant for him to absorb, to boost the power of Machine Emperor Wisel ∞.

Because only when Wisdom's ATK was strong enough, even reaching the level of a one-hit kill, could the utility of 'Dimension Wall' be maximized, even reaching the first step of a direct kill.

A single trap was enough to complete a counter-kill from absolute adversity.

If one were killed inexplicably by something like this, they probably wouldn't be able to close their eyes even in death, right?

However.

"Hahahaha, a thoughtful tactic, but the power of the Machine Emperor transcends such petty tricks!"

Placido laughed loudly, then waved his hand and shouted.

"Wisdom's new part, 'Wisdom Attack Unit 5's' additional effect activates!"

"While Attack Unit 5 is on the field, once per turn, when a monster with '∞' in its name declares an attack, if the opponent activates a Trap Card, negate that activation and destroy it!"

Placido clenched his fist tightly.

"Negate the activation of 'Dimension Wall' and destroy it!"

Fujiki You Xuan's finishing trap saw a barrier of dimensions appear before it, only to crack and shatter with a 'clatter'.

"You sent Stardust Dragon for me to absorb, seemingly to rely on damage reflection for a one-hit kill, but you underestimated the might of the Machine Emperor!" Placido said. "Perish because of your own arrogance!"

"Indeed, so strong, too strong. 5800 ATK, doubling damage, and being able to negate traps... too strong."

Fujiki You Xuan said, flipping over another back-row card without haste.

"So, I will then activate the Trap 'Magic Cylinder'."

"Negate the attack of one opponent's monster and deal damage to the opponent equal to that monster's ATK."

Placido's wild laughter stopped abruptly, freezing instantly.

Huh?

Magic Cylinder?

Seeing the gorgeous magic cylinders appear on the opponent's field, and as the dragon soul sword strike containing immense power from Machine Emperor Wisel headed straight for those cylinders, Placido seemed to finally wake up.

Damn it!

Magic Cylinder!

A flash of lightning crossed Placido's mind; he suddenly thought that this person might actually know the effect of Wisdom Attack Unit 5 as well, and had already calculated it in.

Dimension Wall reflects battle damage, capable of reflecting 5600 points of damage in one go, but if it fails to kill the opponent directly, Black Luster Soldier might not be saved.

But Magic Cylinder not only reflects 5800 points of damage directly, but the attack itself is negated, and Black Luster Soldier won't be destroyed. No matter how you look at it, Magic Cylinder has a higher yield.

Yet the opponent chose Dimension Wall first. It was already obvious: Dimension Wall was used to trade for Wisdom Attack Unit's negation effect. The real trump card had always been Magic Cylinder; the previous one was just bait.

Of course, the key is, how the hell does this guy have so many disgusting things? And one trap layered inside another?

Placido gritted his teeth: "Then, Quick-Play Spell 'Double Cyclone'!"

He quickly played another spell from his hand, and two storms, one red and one gold, flew out from the spell card's image.

"Double Cyclone destroys one Spell or Trap card on my field and one on the opponent's field."

Placido said.

"Destroy 'Stardust Dragon' existing as an Equip Card in my Spell & Trap Zone, and one of your remaining two face-down cards in the back row!"

The red cyclone locked onto Fujiki You Xuan's back row, shooting over with a shrill whistle.

"Then at this moment, activate face-down card." Fujiki You Xuan said. "Trap Card 'Pandora's Treasure'."

"When a Spell/Trap in my back row is targeted, transfer that target to this card, then draw two cards from the deck!"

The red cyclone swept up the trap, grinding it into fragments in mid-air.

Fujiki You Xuan took the opportunity to draw two cards.

Placido's cyclone was also blocked, but of course, Fujiki You Xuan knew his goal wasn't really to blow up his own back row; the real key was blowing up Placido's own side.

The yellow cyclone whistled past the Machine Emperor currently launching its sword strike, simultaneously taking away the dragon soul on its blade. Stardust Dragon shattered with a boom, turning into fragments in the golden storm and flying back to Fujiki You Xuan's Graveyard like stardust.

Placido: "Stardust Dragon, equipped to the Machine Emperor, has been destroyed. Now that it has lost its equipment, Machine Emperor Wisel ∞'s ATK decreases!"

【Machine Emperor Wisel ∞, ATK 5800 → ATK 3300】

"Barely managed to save your life, huh."

Fujiki You Xuan smiled.

"However, through Magic Cylinder, you still have to take Wisdom's ATK—3300 points of damage."

Boom!

A cannon blast was reflected by Magic Cylinder, hitting the Ghost squarely in the chest. The Ghost robot was blown to the ground, a hole blasted in its chest, with broken wires inside sparking and jumping with current.

【Ghost, LP 4000 → LP 700】

Placido gritted his teeth in anger: "Kisama!"
