Chapter 871: Altar of God

"Absorb Shield Wing!"

The huge spider monster shot out spider silk, binding the shield bird and dragging it toward itself to be absorbed as equipment.

Akiza was startled: "Such a powerful ability?"

It has a Snatch Steal!

Rudger laughed wildly: "Two defense destructions per turn, Shield Wing is indeed a powerful defensive monster. You probably wanted to keep this monster as a Tribute for a high-level monster or as a Synchro material next turn, right?"

"But this kind of monster doesn't work in front of the power of the underworld!"

Rudger said, gesturing to the spider monster on his field, and added.

"And, because of the effect of the Field Spell 'Spider Web', 'Underground Arachne', which has attacked, has been forcibly changed to Defense Position."

【Underground Arachne, DEF 1200】

Rudger finally waved his hand and set two more cards in the back row.

"Set two cards, turn end."

Akiza covered her mouth, feeling a little worried: "Goodwin..."

Yusei seemed to notice her anxiety and comforted her: "It's okay. I've seen Rex Goodwin's duel; he is very strong."

Akiza nodded.

Indeed, she probably knew this better in her heart. This person's strength was... no, perhaps stronger than all the Signers here now.

It was probably most appropriate for him to deal with the Dark Signers here.

"My turn, draw."

Fujiki You Xuan looked at the card he drew and revealed it directly.

"Activate Spell card 'takeover5', send five cards from the top of the deck to the Graveyard."

Fujiki You Xuan drew five cards in one go, scanned them roughly, and then pushed them into the Graveyard one by one.

"One of the cards sent to the Graveyard is 'Scholar Spirit'." Fujiki You Xuan said. "When this monster is sent to the Graveyard, draw one card from the deck."

Fujiki You Xuan drew an additional card.

"Then Normal Summon 'Phantom Gunner' from the hand!"

The classic little demon from the GX dimension flapped a pair of demon wings and landed lightly on the field.

【Phantom Gunner, ATK 1100】

"When Phantom Gunner is successfully summoned, Special Summon the corresponding number of 'Gunner Tokens' based on the number of monsters on my field."

"Now I have one Phantom Gunner on my field, so I can summon one more 'Gunner Token'."

【Gunner Token, ATK 500】

Fujiki You Xuan paused and looked at the big spider that had absorbed Shield Wing on the opponent's field.

A Snatch Steal, I'm familiar with this.

Fujiki You Xuan had his own unique way of dealing with this kind of Snatch Steal monster.

"Activate set card, Continuous Trap 'Blood Sacrifice'."

Fujiki You Xuan activated the set card in the back row.

"Blood Sacrifice's effect can only be used during my Main Phase or the opponent's Battle Phase." Fujiki You Xuan said. "By paying 500 life points, I can perform an additional Normal Summon for a monster in my hand."

"I pay 500 life points to perform an additional Normal Summon."

【Fujiki You Xuan, LP 4000 → LP 3500】

"Release the two monsters 'Phantom Gunner' and 'Gunner Token' on the field, Tribute Summon!"

"Level eight! Planetary series—"

"—Great Saturn!!!"

The two monsters turned into light spots and dissipated, and the golden planetary ring constructed by energy cut out a bright arc in the middle of the spider web field.

The white metallic planet rose slowly in the center of the ring, waving a pair of iron fists, hanging majestically in mid-air.

【Great Saturn, ATK 2800】

Seeing this huge Saturn machine, Sixteen-Year-Old Akiza couldn't help but twitch her eyebrows and subconsciously pressed her undulating chest.

As if involuntarily recalling some terrifying memories.

"Battle." Fujiki You Xuan said. "Use 'Great Saturn' to attack 'Underground Arachne'!"

Great Saturn raised his iron fist, and with a roar of power propulsion, he slammed toward the spider monster on the opposite side with the force of a landslide.

However, the moment this punch was about to land, the spider monster suddenly danced with the spider silk under its body, lifting the Shield Wing bound by the spider silk and blocking it in front like a shield. Great Saturn's aggressive punch only hit Shield Wing, and the bird was shattered into countless golden light fragments, while the spider monster itself remained unscathed.

Jack: "Actually used Goodwin's monster as a shield!?"

Rudger laughed wildly: "Underground Arachne absorbs the monster used as equipment, and when Arachne is destroyed by battle, it can be used as a substitute for destruction."

"And of course, because Arachne was forcibly changed to Defense Position by the effect of 'Spider Web', I won't take battle damage either."

Leo: "How so? Too cunning! In this way, isn't the attack meaningless..."

"Not only that." Luna said. "And Great Saturn, which has attacked, will also be forcibly changed to Defense Position because of the Field Spell 'Spider Web', and it cannot change its battle position to launch an attack next turn."

Sure enough, several white spider webs had shot down from the sky, wrapping Great Saturn tightly and forcibly changing him into a defensive state.

【Great Saturn, ATK 2800 → DEF 2300】

Leo scratched his head: "Damn it, the monster that was summoned with such difficulty actually had its attack sealed..."

"It doesn't matter." At this time, Akiza seemed to have expected something. "Goodwin must have his own considerations."

Fujiki You Xuan drew two more cards from his hand.

"Then set two cards, turn end."

Rudger: "My turn, draw!"

After drawing the card, he immediately pressed the button on the Duel Disk, and the set card at his feet was activated.

"At the moment of the Standby Phase, activate set card!"

"Continuous Trap 'Altar of the Earthbound Immortal'!"

With the activation of the trap, a huge altar rose behind him with a rumble.

"While this card is on the field, every turn during my Standby Phase, place 'Earthbound Immortal Counters' on this card based on the number of monsters in face-up Defense Position on both sides of the field."

"Now there are two monsters in Defense Position on our field, 'Great Saturn' and 'Underground Arachne', so place two Earthbound Immortal counters."

As he spoke, two purple-black flames had already been lit on the altar, flickering with eerie firelight.

Rudger sneered: "When the altar has four or more counters, send this card with counters to the Graveyard, and you can Special Summon one monster with 'Earthbound Immortal' in its name from your hand or deck."

Everyone was shocked when they heard this.

"I see."

Yusei said.

"Spider Web makes all monsters that have attacked forcibly turn to defense, not just to delay the opponent's attack rhythm, but there is also this purpose?"

Sixteen-Year-Old Akiza also understood at this time: "While preventing the opponent from attacking, it prepares for the descent of the Earthbound Immortal, and it can also be Special Summoned from the deck, solving the problem of the Earthbound Immortal being in the hand..."

Jack: "And the Earthbound Immortal is unaffected by Spell and Trap effects, so after the Earthbound Immortal appears, even if it attacks, it won't be forcibly turned to defense because of the field effect. In this way, the only one who will be restricted from attacking because of the field is Goodwin."

"And the Earthbound Immortal can also ignore defensive monsters and attack the player directly..."

Leo scratched his head again: "Ah ah ah, then wouldn't Uncle Goodwin be very bad!?"

At this time, everyone had already fought against their respective Dark Signers and had personally experienced the horror of the Earthbound Immortal. So at this moment, even if the Earthbound Immortal hadn't descended yet, this altar had invisibly made everyone feel pressured.

"Not bad, this altar is the countdown to your death."

Rudger smiled.

"The moment the counters are gathered and the Earthbound Immortal descends, it will announce your defeat!"
