Chapter 908: Riding Duel
"Supreme? I couldn't possibly claim that."
Fujiki You Xuan waved his hand and smiled.
"I'm just a duelist who got lucky and moved ahead a little faster—in my dimension, I'm far from supreme. There are still stronger duelists out there."
Antinomy's eyes flickered.
He was already a Duel King, yet claimed he wasn't yet supreme.
So, his dimension must have more than one such duelist?
What a terrifying dimension.
Antinomy suddenly felt a pang of sadness—had his own future timeline held so many powerful Duel Kings, could its destruction have been avoided?
Zone's voice sounded again: "Then let us begin."
As he spoke, the pure white realm shifted once more. Transparent ripples bloomed across the void, spreading to the very edge of this world.
The background began to change. The ceiling and floor disappeared, as if heaven and earth had shed their boundaries. A void runway stretched from one horizon to the other, looping endlessly through the infinite sky, finally settling into the shape of "∞."
Fujiki You Xuan and Antinomy now stood atop this runway, and beside them appeared two D-Wheels.
One was the "Tri-Eagle," the futuristic D-Wheel with a spear-like prow—Antinomy's signature ride.
The other was none other than Paradox's identical D-Wheel, indistinguishable from the one Fujiki You Xuan had ridden to cross dimensions.
Fujiki You Xuan raised an eyebrow: "Riding Duel?"
"Precisely."
Antinomy swung himself onto his Tri-Eagle.
"The ultimate form of evolution in dueling—the very symbol of Synchro. Will you accept my challenge, King of Another World?"
Both knew their disguises were fake; Fujiki You Xuan had no need to pretend anymore, having shed Gothem's mask and returned to his true form.
He smiled and said, "Calling me 'King' sounds awkward. My name is Tengmu Fujiki You Xuan—just call me Fujiki You Xuan."
Fujiki You Xuan paused, then added, "I'm not great at Riding Duels, but I don't mind trying once in a while. Let's go."
He stepped onto his D-Wheel.
He spoke the truth—he'd never encountered Riding Duel rules in any real Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, and his familiar decks weren't designed for it.
The restriction against using normal Spell Cards hurt many decks significantly, and while he'd studied Speed Magic—exclusive to the anime—after arriving in this dimension, he still couldn't match the locals' fluency with it.
So, whenever possible, he avoided Riding Duels entirely.
But dueling Antinomy, a future D-Wheel expert, was worth a try—let him have home-field advantage.
Both D-Wheels ignited, Duel Mode activated. The Field Spell "Speed World" triggered automatically; countdowns appeared on both D-Wheel screens.
"Riding Duel, Accelerate!" x2
【Fujiki You Xuan, LP 4000】
【Antinomy, LP 4000】
Both D-Wheels launched forward like arrows released from a bow.
Per Riding Duel rules, whoever reached the first turn first gained the first turn.
Fujiki You Xuan wasn't slow, but he'd never practiced riding—he relied solely on his superior physical strength and reflexes to floor the throttle.
Antinomy was different—he'd been a Duel King-level D-Wheel rider in his lifetime. Though now a robot copy of his original consciousness, he retained every aspect of his personality, including his elite driving skills. In the entire 5D's anime, if you ranked riders by skill, he was second to none.
The Tri-Eagle shot past the first turn, trailing a streak of flame—Antinomy, unsurprisingly, claimed first attack.
"Allow me to go first! My turn, draw!"
Antinomy drew a card; both players' Speed Counters increased to one.
"I Normal Summon 'Tech-Attribute·Catapult Dragon'!"
Antinomy slapped the monster card onto his Duel Disk; a tiny dragon with a launch rail atop its head materialized beside his D-Wheel, its rail crowned with sharp, menacing spikes.
【Tech-Attribute·Catapult Dragon, ATK 900】
"Catapult Dragon's effect: Once per turn, I can Special Summon a Level 3 or lower 'Tech-Attribute' Tuner from my hand!"
The Tech-Attribute archetype never received real card releases, so like many anime-only decks, its real-card effects differed greatly from the anime.
For example, Catapult Dragon received a buff in real cards: it can Special Summon any Level 3 or lower Tuner, regardless of type, whereas in the anime, it could only summon 'Tech-Attribute' monsters—far less versatile.
"Special Summon 'Tech-Attribute·Jet Hawk' from my hand!"
A second summoning vortex opened; a black hawk spread its wings, circled twice, then hovered side-by-side with the Tri-Eagle.
【Tech-Attribute·Jet Hawk, ATK 1400】
"Level 3 Tuner, 'Tech-Attribute·Jet Hawk'!"
"Level 2, 'Tech-Attribute·Catapult Dragon'!"
"Tuning!"
【3+2=5】
Data streams flashed across Antinomy's red visor; a tuning halo appeared beside the Tri-Eagle, like a starlit highway stretching to the world's end.
"Release the Level 5 limiter, engage the tuner, warm up the thrusters—OK! All uphill lanes cleared! Go! Synchro Summon!"
"Eon—"
"——Tech-Attribute·Supreme Librarian!"
Synchro light exploded; a white cloak billowed gracefully against the boundless void. The Librarian held a thick tome, wore a tall hat and white robes, exuding quiet dignity and calm authority.
【Tech-Attribute·Supreme Librarian, ATK 2400】
"There it is—the legendary Librarian," Fujiki You Xuan licked his lips.
Antinomy blinked: "What?"
"Oh, nothing. Keep going," Fujiki You Xuan chuckled.
The Librarian had been a legendary overpowered card in the Synchro era, banned and restricted multiple times. It was, without exaggeration, the strongest card-drawing engine of its time.
Its effect was blunt: whenever a Synchro Summon occurred on the field while the Librarian was present, you drew one card.
Back then, top-tier decks built around Yusei's cards, like "Trash Reborn," could Synchro Summon twenty or thirty times in a single turn—drawing cards nonstop, filling hand and graveyard, sometimes even emptying the entire deck in one turn.
Antinomy found his reaction odd but didn't press. He waved his hand: "At this moment, Jet Hawk's effect! When this card is sent to the graveyard as Synchro material, inflict 500 damage to your opponent!"
This card, sent to the graveyard as a Synchro material, inflicts 500 damage to the opponent!
