Chapter 502: Restoring the Glory of the Heavenly Realm — A Duty We Cannot Shirk

~2 min read 388 words

"The Lord!?"

A startled cry escaped Michael's lips before he could stop it.

He had never imagined that the 【System】 would suddenly burst forth with a radiance like the Lord's, and even a good number of the bugs accumulated over many years had vanished.

Unfortunately, this radiance came quickly and faded just as quickly; the 【System】 soon reverted to its former feeble state, as if everything had been an illusion.

But Michael knew this was no illusion — after all, he had been maintaining the 【System】 all these years, and certain critical bugs were still fresh in his memory.

And now, those bugs were gone.

'Could it be that the Lord is still alive?!'

As this thought rose in his mind, Michael, the leader of the angels, felt his heart begin to pound uncontrollably.

For many years now, although he had barely managed to maintain the pretense that the Lord was still alive, quite a few factions must have sensed something amiss.

After all, ever since that great war in ancient times, the Lord had never shown himself again.

But if he could find the Lord before the situation deteriorated any further, the Heavenly Realm could still be saved — restoring its former glory would even be effortless.

Thinking this, Michael drew a light breath, trying to steady his emotions, but the surging within his heart refused to settle no matter what.

However, he could not afford to worry about that now.

"Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel — come see me at once!"

As his voice spread throughout the Heavenly Realm, all the angels raised their heads one after another, wondering why this great angel, usually as mild-mannered as Mr. Nice Guy, was so agitated.

Soon, the other three Archangels gathered at the Sixth layer of the realm.

They looked at Michael, visibly stirred, standing before the 【System】, and a flicker of puzzlement passed through their eyes.

Before they could even open their mouths to ask, Michael told them everything that had just happened.

After hearing Michael's account, the other three Archangels instinctively exchanged a glance.

After a brief silence, Raphael sighed, then said with a note of reluctance: "The Lord Michael is already dead — this is a fact we have all confirmed together."

"If you are tired, Uriel and I can take over maintaining the 【System】 from you."
