Chapter 58: Eibhear's Request
Watching the young dwarf run into the blacksmith shop, Wayne couldn't help but praise his good luck again.
He didn't expect that he would just find a relative by randomly finding a dwarf who looked honest, and one who was willing to do things. It was really rare.
He didn't foolishly wait there for the result but walked with interest to the side of the other two dwarves who were still busy, and carefully observed the process of their blacksmithing.
In fact, learning blacksmithing technology had been included in his plan a long time ago. Besides the fact that the cost of repairing equipment was too high and good blacksmith masters were hard to find.
The most important reason was that Wayne believed that under the blessing of the system's great power, no matter whether he had talent or not, as long as he went to learn blacksmithing technology, one day, he would be able to become the most powerful blacksmith in the world and forge advanced equipment far exceeding other craftsmen.
Of course, this process might take a long time and cost him countless energy, but the Witcher's long lifespan made his various expectations possible.
After about ten minutes, Wayne saw the young dwarf who ran into the blacksmith shop walk out with a clear slap mark on his face, not caring at all, and walking out with a smile.
He came to Wayne's side, laughed, and said:
"Witcher, you are really lucky. My uncle asked me to take you to see him."
"By the way, my name is Andrew. Don't forget to treat me to a drink when you come out. I want to go to the Kingfisher Tavern. I heard that the strong liquor there is particularly authentic."
Wayne nodded with a smile and said:
"Of course, Andrew. My name is Wayne. I won't forget this promise."
He didn't care about a little money. If this Andrew was a person worth making friends with, he would often invite this honest dwarf to drink in the future.
Perhaps learning blacksmithing technology would fall on him.
The scale of the blacksmith shop was not small. Besides the furnace and anvil at the shop entrance, there was a huge warehouse in the yard, a shed for storing coal, and the living area of the dwarf blacksmiths.
Following Andrew all the way forward, they passed through two courtyards before they came to the place where Master Eibhear lived.
Just entering the courtyard, Wayne heard a thick voice shouting:
"Andrew, get out and work. You kid has already owed me two months of wages for playing cards. If you slack off again, I'll ban your wine."
Wayne followed the sound and saw a bald dwarf who was less than 1.5 meters tall but had muscles all over his body as if they were cast from steel. The wrinkles on his face were a bit obvious, and the snow-white beard on his chin was braided into three braids. He was smoking a pipe in his mouth, looking at Wayne impatiently, and looking Wayne up and down.
Hearing this curse, Andrew, who was also quite strong, blinked at Wayne like a little rabbit meeting a big bad wolf, reminding him not to forget to treat him, and then ran away in a flash.
Blacksmith Master Eibhear glanced at his nephew's back, snorted, and then asked Wayne bluntly:
"Half-elf Witcher, this is my first time seeing one."
"What school of Witcher are you?"
Wayne pondered for a second and said truthfully:
"I am from the Wolf School, Master Eibhear."
The dwarf blacksmith master bit his pipe, exhaled a puff of smoke, recalled for two seconds, and then said with some sigh:
"I haven't heard of it, but thirty years ago, I met a Witcher from the Griffin School. He entrusted me to forge a master-level armor."
"Just waiting for him to gather the materials took half a year."
"That set of master-level armor not only had high requirements for the craftsman's skills but also had requirements for the temperature of the furnace."
"For this, I had to spend a lot of money to upgrade the furnace to meet the requirements of that set of armor."
"When I finally finished that piece of armor, I couldn't help but burst into tears. That was the work I was most satisfied with when I was young."
Speaking of this, Eibhear looked at Wayne and asked:
"So, Witcher, what kind of equipment do you want to forge? Is the drawing ready?"
Wayne nodded, then took out the drawing copied by Geralt from his arms, handed it to the strong dwarf blacksmith, and said:
"The drawing is here, Master Eibhear. If you need it, my companion has a finished product that you can appreciate."
The dwarf blacksmith master took the drawing, snorted with disdain, and then looked at it for about half a minute before saying:
"To tell you the truth, that human merchant has no face here, and I have no friendship with you."
"However, seeing that you are a half-elf and a Witcher, I can give you two choices."
"The first type, you prepare the materials and the fee of five hundred orens yourself, and I can help you complete this master-level silver sword."
"However, materials like meteorite iron, dimeritium, and moon dust required in this drawing are quite rare. Ordinary blacksmith shops don't have these materials at all. You can try your luck in the market to see if you can buy them."
"As for the second choice, as long as you get me one thing, I can help you prepare these materials, and you don't even need to pay me for the work."
"Of course, this thing is also quite rare. I have looked for many relationships and have no channels to buy it."
"East of the East, the fine wine from Toussaint, East of the East."
"As long as you help me get a bottle of this fine wine, I will help you for free."
Hearing these two choices, Wayne couldn't help but frown. Whether it was the materials for casting the sword or the East of the East from Toussaint, he didn't know much about them and didn't dare to say which choice was easier.
So, he pondered his words and said compromisingly:
"Master, no matter whether I choose the first option or the second option, you need to complete this work."
"Why don't you start forging now, and I will go to collect those materials and East of the East."
"No matter which one I complete, when the time comes, I will pay the money and get the goods. You won't suffer a loss."
Eibhear thought about it and felt that it was indeed the case. He snorted and said:
"Fine, smart kid."
The dwarf licked his lips and added:
"I actually prefer you to choose the second option. When you get the East of the East, I can invite you to have a drink too."
Wayne nodded with a smile. He actually preferred the second option. Being able to have a good relationship with a dwarf blacksmith master was a good thing for him and even for the Witchers of the entire Wolf School.
Master Eibhear was a quite straightforward person. After reaching an agreement with Wayne, he didn't have any extra pleasantries and drove him out of the blacksmith shop.
And in order to complete the request of this blacksmith, Wayne didn't want to stay any longer. After leaving the blacksmith shop, he immediately went to find the person he knew who had the most extensive connections, the wealthy merchant Leuvaarden.
As a merchant from the south, he naturally possessed more channels than northern merchants to obtain the fine wine from Toussaint, East of the East.
Wayne's luck was not bad. Leuvaarden's house had not been built yet, and he happened to be resting in the tavern today.
Knowing that Wayne was visiting him, the fat merchant still received him quite enthusiastically.
However, this time, having something to ask for, Wayne took the initiative to pay the bill in advance and ordered an expensive red wine, and Leuvaarden didn't refuse.
After the wine and dishes were served, the two chatted while drinking. Before Wayne could bring up the topic of East of the East, Leuvaarden took the initiative to ask:
"Did Master Eibhear agree to your request, Wayne."
Wayne didn't beat around the bush and told the encounter in the morning, and at the same time asked sincerely:
"Mr. Leuvaarden, do you have any channels to buy East of the East? Or do you have any channels to buy meteorite iron, moon dust, and dimeritium?"
Hearing this, Leuvaarden considered for a few seconds and shook his head with some regret, saying:
"Sorry, Wayne, I do wholesale raw material trading, and those rare blacksmithing materials are not within my network."
He pondered for a few seconds and said:
"However, if you want to buy a bottle of East of the East, I can help."
"But I estimate that from the time I send this message to the time it is specially transported from Toussaint, it will take at least two months."
"And the cost should also be one or two percent more expensive than the market price. If you can accept it, I can help."
