Chapter 39: then translation of chapter title

Time flies like a white colt passing through a gap.

Unnoticed, the ninth week also passed.

The autumn semester is about to be half over.

Ruiwo Si Si Biological and Medical College's Junior College south and north campuses, whether first-year, second-year, third-year, or fourth-year, all wizard apprentices, including the Storm Sea Newbloods and local apprentices, received a notice from the college.

The midterm exam will be held on Friday of week ten and Monday of week eleven.

The reason for freeing up the two-day weekend of week ten is that Friday's exam is practical, consuming considerable stamina, mental energy, and magic power, so the apprentices need time to recover properly.

This notice came very suddenly, arriving on the morning of Monday of week ten.

The college basically gave the apprentices hardly any time to prepare and review.

Let alone setting the exam scope or highlighting key points.

Key points?

Everything you've learned is the key point!

For a moment, the first-year Newbloods wailed in unison.

No one had ever mentioned to them that there was such a thing as a midterm exam.

Even those Newbloods who were socially active and joined various small groups could not learn of this from the senior Newbloods in their groups.

It seems that from the college administration to the senior Newbloods, concealing the news of the midterm exam has become a consensus.

Not even a word appeared on the 'forum'.

What they were playing was a surprise attack.

What they wanted was the panic and wailing under the surprise attack.

Lin Ke naturally took it in stride and faced it calmly.

Those who usually study seriously have never feared exams; they just care more about their grades.

Those who usually don't study seriously are the ones who fear exams, but they don't care much about their grades.

Such is the way of all heavens; it has always been so.

Lin Ke has been thinking more these days about how to make good use of the 87.5 standard first-grade Magic Stones in his hand, to provide some safety for the present and also help the future.

After strolling a few times around the Living Services Building, gathering some information from the 'forum', and searching many materials in the Library, Lin Ke finalized his plan.

He bought a vest, a pair of boots, and a cloak.

The vest is a magic implement, the most expensive, bearing two sets of rune enchantments, giving it defensive strength equivalent to an ordinary first-ring defensive spell.

The vital points of the human body are: first the head, second the chest and abdomen, third the perineum, and finally the limbs.

With limited finances, he cannot arm himself to the teeth.

After consideration, he prioritized protecting the chest and abdomen, which have the largest area and are easiest to target.

Other parts can only be dealt with gradually later.

Just this cost Lin Ke a full thirty Magic Stones!

The items are good; the drawback is that they are too expensive.

The boots and cloak are both rune items, together costing eight Magic Stones.

Their functions are good; they are of high quality and low price.

The boots have short-term levitation and acceleration functions, suitable for encounters and when needing to maneuver.

The cloak has optical invisibility, suitable for hiding, setting ambushes, and when needing to maneuver.

Lin Ke spent another two Magic Stones to repair, upgrade, and replenish bolts for the Breaking-Law Sleeve Crossbow.

The sleeve crossbow changed from single-shot to rapid-fire, with increased rate of fire, silent and concealed, and its firing mechanism changed from a trigger to a trigger plus mental power discharge.

The bolt reserve greatly increased to fifteen, enough for three rounds of rapid fire.

Why not buy another sleeve crossbow?

Because this sleeve crossbow was bought with money given by Lady Grand, it has commemorative significance.

Besides equipment, Lin Ke also carefully selected his spells before making a decision.

For wood-system zeroth-ring spells, the first choice is Entangling Thorns.

Because it is the beginning of the thorn series spells; above it, first-ring spells have Thorn Strangulation, second-ring spells have Thorn Burst (area attack), and third-ring spells have Heaven Thorn Earth (super-large-range spell, balancing control and attack, and possessing some domain characteristics).

Second choice is Withering Spell.

It can cause plants to wither and collapse quickly, usable for research and experiment, and also a potent spell against other wizards' wood-system spells.

Last is Leaf Arrow Technique.

This is an attack-type spell; with a raise of hand and lift of foot, picking flowers and flying leaves, it injures invisibly.

Unfortunately, it is only high in concealment, with limited attack power.

It can barely be used.

For water-system zeroth-ring spells, the first choice is Water Ball Technique.

It is also the start of a spell series; upward it has the continuations of first-, second-, and third-ring spells, and laterally it can derive zeroth-ring spells such as Water Arrow Technique and Water Blade Technique.

Its drawback is likewise limited attack power, but it is highly malleable.

Second choice is Purify Water Technique.

Its function is simple: to produce pure water.

Whether natural water or water condensed by magic, it contains impurities and is not pure.

Harmful germs are impurities; beneficial minerals are also impurities.

Purify Water Technique can settle impurities and precipitate pure water.

It can meet the needs of many experiments and also serve as a survival safeguard in crises.

Last is Water Shield Technique.

Said to be a water shield, it is actually a ring-shaped flowing water curtain, using the lateral impact and longitudinal delay of the water flow to defend against attacks.

Its defensive strength is limited, but better than nothing.

Three pieces of equipment and six 0-circle wizard arts together cost 70 magic stones, leaving 7.5 magic stones for emergency.

Coincidentally, there are still 10 magic stones that can be used to recharge the system for paid card draws.

After purchasing the wizardry model scrolls from the Wizardry Trading Center, he returned to the dormitory, and Lin Ke summoned the system.

Recharge complete.

"Eurogod possessed!"

Lin Ke silently chanted a spell in his mind, gave himself a buff, and carried out the third plain and simple card draw.

【Linke Grand

Wizard aptitude: Fourth grade middle

Wizard rank: First Grade Wizard Apprentice

0-circle wizard arts: Lesser Mist Rain Technique (Water), Growth Technique (Wood)

Card pack: "Philius Flitwick's Spellcasting Talent" talent card

Used: "Brain Seal Technique" study card, "Pomona Sprout's Botany Talent" talent card

Draw count: 0 (100 standard first-grade magic stones)】

Just as I was dozing off, a pillow appeared.

Lin Ke had just purchased the wizardry model scrolls for the six 0-circle wizard arts, and was worrying about how to find free time in his tightly scheduled routine to study and practice the new wizardry.

Philius Flitwick, as the Spellcasting Professor and Ravenclaw House Head at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, has expertise in spellcasting that is top-notch from theory to practice.

With the "Philius Flitwick's Spellcasting Talent", Lin Ke's aptitude for learning and using wizardry will surely be greatly enhanced, thereby shortening the time and increasing power.

Lin Ke unhesitatingly used this talent card.

Instantly, the feeling changed.

Lin Ke's understanding and mastery of the two 0-circle wizard arts he possessed immediately went up a level.

If we divide the understanding and mastery of wizardry into: entry, proficiency, mastery, perfection, innovation.

Previously, Lin Ke was only at proficiency.

Now he is at mastery.

Believe it won't be long before he reaches perfection, enabling instant casting of the Lesser Mist Rain Technique and Growth Technique.

These magic stones were worth the money spent!

Thanks to the reward from reader "6 Turns into Memory 6", thank you!
