Chapter 202: A Slightly Guilty Victory
After dyeing the three dragon eggs guarded by the Short-Snouts, Harry and Cedric returned to the air. Both were a bit tired, quietly watching the four Hungarian Horntails that were very close to each other.
"Should we try? Or use your trump card?" Cedric said, panting. "But I can only cast Sectumsempra one more time, two at most."
"I'm about the same," Harry also felt a bit tired. "This means we can't miss even once."
Simply hitting a dragon was a very simple thing; after all, their size was there. But the difficulty was that just using one spell to make a dragon lose its combat effectiveness required considerable aim and some luck. In fact, if it weren't for Tang Tang Nade deliberately choosing those dragons that were already timid and cowardly, Harry and Cedric would have had to put in twice the effort to achieve the current results.
The idea of winning the competition honestly tempted Harry, but he knew that if the two of them fought the Hungarian Horntails in their current state, it would be very dangerous. Perhaps he himself would be fine, but Cedric was an innocent good student; Harry didn't want to put him in danger.
Harry took a deep breath, recalled those spells, and then slowly pulled out the sword case of the Seven Deadly Sins from his magic pouch. Its wide size and beautiful alchemical patterns reminded every audience member: this was a set of expensive and powerful weapons.
Under the focused gaze of the audience and the whispering discussion of the judges, Cedric held his breath and watched Harry float the sword case in front of him, then chanted the incantation Tang Tang Nade had been looking forward to for a long time: "The blood of all kings must end with the sword!"
Amidst a humming sound like an ancient giant dragon waking up, the sword case of the Seven Deadly Sins opened, and the scent of dragon blood permeated the air. The four Horntails on the ground couldn't help but start to retreat.
Harry let the sword case float behind him, took the widest sword, Wrath, under his feet, and then flew slowly toward the dragon group, his temperament like a cold emperor.
But in fact, because the Seven Deadly Sins were not originally designed for sword-flying, and Harry had only just practiced this move not long ago, he couldn't fly fast at all, and almost couldn't change direction; it could even be said that he was simply gliding over.
Cedric grabbed Harry's Firebolt with one hand, watching the battle situation quietly.
"You must repay the transgression with pain," saying this, Harry pulled out the long swords named Pride and Greed and threw them down forcefully. A Horntail that was still shrinking was immediately pierced through both wings by these two swords and nailed to the ground.
"You must repay the arrogance with eyes," he pulled out the short knives named Lust and Gluttony and threw them diagonally. The two short knives adjusted their direction by themselves in the air and stabbed fiercely into the eyes of another Horntail. It immediately shrank its head and curled up its body in pain, no longer moving.
"You must repay the betrayal with blood," the long knives named Envy and Sloth were thrown out in a cross. The two knives crossed into an X shape, the tips inserted into the rocky ground, and the blades embedded into the tail of the third dragon. It wailed, and dragon blood flowed all over the alchemical metal.
Finally, Harry landed slowly, and the Wrath he had been stepping on was also held in his hand.
"On the day I return to the world, all rebellious subjects shall die." The final incantation was chanted, and the blade of the Zanbato in his hand suddenly grew more than eight meters of sharp edge. Harry cut off the dragon tail of the fourth dragon, and the field was silent for a time.
Taking advantage of the wailing and shrinking of the four Horntails, Cedric gathered his courage to dye the dragon eggs one by one, while Harry was gripping the big sword in his hand tightly, his breathing becoming rapid and irregular.
Sirius was right; Tang Tang Nade didn't tell the truth about the effects of the Seven Deadly Sins, but he didn't exaggerate the effects of this set of weapons; instead, he spoke of them too lightly. When he chanted the incantation and pulled out the first sword, Harry felt his hand somewhat out of control, and these swords seemed to have their own ideas.
Pride and Greed originally intended to nail into the top of the dragon's head; Harry tried his best to cast the spell so that they only nailed the wings; when chanting the second incantation, he didn't use the two long knives that were shaking violently in the sword case, also worrying that they would stab into the second dragon's brain; after the third and fourth incantations were chanted, Harry's eyes were almost full of the dragon's neck, but he still successfully turned the direction and changed the position of the attack to the tail.
Perhaps, when Tang Tang Nade ordered the swords, he didn't emphasize that this was for cheating in the competition; that alchemical master thought he really wanted to let the child have the ability to slay dragons. He could feel that after the alchemical patterns were activated, these swords were all longing for dragon blood.
Finally, Harry could feel the originally hot blood cooling down, and the little magic left in his body was no longer boiling. He began to recall the swords to the sword case, and the host also began to request the judges to score.
"The final incantation is a bit too cruel," Madame Maxime said. "But they flew well at the beginning."
"My view is just the opposite; the battle at the beginning was too boring, and the final incantation was a bit interesting," Karkaroff sang the opposite tune.
"I have to say that it is a very powerful spell, which can make ordinary swords exert such great power," Tang Tang Nade casually confirmed the statement of "spell," covering up his cheating behavior.
"I think the air combat at the beginning was very brilliant, barrel rolls, Immelmann turns, and that cobra maneuver," Vaskov commented. "The cooperation between the main plane and the wingman was also very tacit; they deserve this score."
"Harry's final approach is inappropriate," Dumbledore adjusted his glasses. "I can understand him using some risky spells to win the competition, but if the result is like this, then I think I want to deduct two points."
Finally, Harry and Cedric achieved a score of 83 points, surpassing Fleur and Elena. Although they were deducted an extra 9 points for performance because they used two brooms and seven swords, passing the Horntails brought them a 24-point difference, which was worth it.
With Cedric's support, Harry adjusted his breathing while walking. By the time he returned to the champions' observation area, he had roughly recovered his energy and could greet others as usual.
"Flew great," Krum said very seriously. "Do you two play Quidditch?"
"We are the Seekers of the school team, both he and I," Cedric said.
"We have competed on the court several times," Harry added.
"You, not going to play professionally to make a name for yourselves, content to be a small school team Seeker?" Krum wanted to continue, but Renata pulled his sleeve, and the announcer signaled that it was their turn to go on stage. "Oh, I'll go first, let's talk about professional Quidditch when I come back."
"Oh, it seems Krum is not a bad person," Cedric shrugged.
"But this just shows that Renata is very bad," Elena said, turning to the side.
Harry couldn't help but laugh, while Cedric responded seriously: "We had best not discuss others behind their backs."
"Truly no sense of humor," Elena pouted and shook her head.
"Don't say that, Cedric is the most upright person I have ever met," Fleur said.
The small talk ended quickly because Krum and Renata were already standing in front of the Fireball. Krum chanted the Summoning Charm, and his Firebolt flew from outside the paddock into his hand.
Krum's eyes were very firm, and he also mounted the broom with ease, then attracted the Fireball's attention with a quick slant—but he didn't intend to end it there, but rushed straight toward the Green dragons.
Just when Harry was amazed by Krum's several high-difficulty flying movements and his crazy behavior of provoking the Green dragons and then going to find the Short-Snouts, Cedric poked him, signaling him to look at Renata's movements.
This Soviet girl, who looked small, had dozens of broken stones of different sizes floating around her, and they were transforming synchronously, but they were transforming into different shapes.
"This Transfiguration is too profound; can Professor McGonagall do it?" Harry exclaimed.
"This shows that she knows very well what is about to be transformed," Cedric said. "Every part of every shape is firmly in mind, only then can she complete this kind of transformation that aggregates separated bodies into a whole."
"This hand of hers will definitely get a lot of points... wait, what is that?" Harry stood up from his seat abruptly.
"DShK heavy machine gun, once a compulsory course at Durmstrang; every girl must learn to use this machine gun to deal with German devils' air raids," Vaskov introduced proudly to the professor beside him. "And Renata also knows the structure of the Sokolov wheeled gun mount like the back of her hand."
A ferocious, terrifying machine that usually only appeared on Muggle battlefields was quickly assembled by this petite girl with the help of magic. Then, Renata took out a bag from her cotton clothes; clearly, this was also expanded by magic, because Harry watched her pull out a bright yellow 12.7mm ammunition belt and then insert it into the feed slot casually.
"What is this?" Cedric asked.
"This is unscientific!" Harry said somewhat exasperatedly. "A heavy machine gun has at least hundreds or even thousands of parts; how could she do this with Transfiguration?"
It wasn't that Harry hadn't tried to transform firearms, but this was essentially a precise mechanical creation; any deviation in size would lead to problems such as jamming, failure to fire, or crooked trajectories. And for wizards who relied entirely on imagination, wanting to eliminate errors was almost an impossible thing.
A crackling sound came; Harry watched the flames constantly spitting from the muzzle, shock mixed with fear, making him speechless for a time. And the tracer bullets that appeared from time to time in the air were straightly greeting the magical creatures flying in the sky; Krum, who was tossing and turning among the six dragons, immediately felt the powerful support from his companion. ===== CHAPTER 203 =====
