Chapter 29: Night Outside Hogwarts

~10 min read 1,829 words

"That's the most critical content. Next, I'm going to prepare to apply for evacuation," Pei Xu said. "The Embroidered Uniform Guard might have already started to suspect me."

"What about the distribution of forces at Hogwarts? What about the agent codenamed 'Zhan Tie'?" William looked at him. "You know this is what matters most."

"None, completely blank. Except for an international student named Zhang Qiu who is related to the Embroidered Uniform Guard, there are no signs of activity from other forces," Pei Xu said. "If we don't evacuate, we might not be able to leave. I eavesdropped on all the professors; none of them have anything to do with the Soviet Union. 'Zhan Tie' is just a child under 17 at most. I suspect there is no intelligence organization here; he is just a lonely mole."

"Headquarters wants us to stay here," William said calmly after a silence. "If the Soviet side has a way to grasp the movements at Hogwarts, then we must also grasp them. You are the most suitable. I will move to Hogsmeade village tomorrow morning to reduce the frequency of contact and dispel their suspicions."

"I can't stay undercover," Pei Xu's tone showed a trace of fluctuation. "Zhang Qiu persuaded Harry to find an opportunity to send me away. I don't know how much more intelligence I can transmit."

"Once contact is lost, we will organize a rescue," William said coldly. "Continue to investigate information on Zhan Tie and investigate Harry's ideological state. We need to know if we can win him over."

"I'll say it again, if we don't evacuate, I'm afraid it will be too late," Pei Xu said calmly. "Zhang Qiu hasn't appeared for many days. I believe she must be deploying an action team—"

"Execute the order, Pei Xu." William had already hung up the phone and was organizing the equipment.

"Received." Pei Xu sighed, transformed back into a cat, and darted into the woods, disappearing.

"Pei Xu is a child after all. Master said he still has the possibility of education and reform," Zhang Qiu said in a low voice.

"He said I'm the future leader of the British Wizarding World? Has the Wizarding World also been drawn into the Cold War game?" Harry asked eagerly. "Are you really related to that Embroidered Uniform Guard?"

"Deng Buliduo regards you as his successor; this is something many people know," Zhang Qiu answered his first question quickly, then she hesitated before answering the second: "After a coup, the wizard Yanayev became the Soviet leader of both worlds simultaneously, so the Wizarding World could not remain aloof in the Cold War."

"As for the Embroidered Uniform Guard," Zhang Qiu said vaguely, "they are law enforcement officers in the Heavenly Dynasty Wizarding World, similar to Aurors. I found William and wrote to them seeking help."

Harry was just about to ask more questions when he suddenly discovered three black shadows darting out from the woods, surrounding the small tent in an instant.

The three were wearing strange-looking robes, each wearing a small black round hat, and all were holding knives. From their attire, Harry speculated that these were the people from the Embroidered Uniform Guard.

The person holding the double-handed broadsword slashed vertically into the void, and a red arc-shaped spell shot out from the tip of the knife, hitting the tent directly. William crawled out of the tent with his hands raised. The three of them looked at him vigilantly, but unexpectedly, in the blink of an eye, he suddenly disappeared.

What surprised Harry was that the three Embroidered Uniform Guard people walked to the hiding place of him and Zhang Qiu, then knelt on one knee and clasped their fists to salute them.

"He used a Portkey to run away; we are very sorry. How should Pei Xu be handled? Please instruct, Miss." The leader's English had a very strange accent; Harry almost didn't understand.

"Tomorrow night at nine, you come to the highest tower to pick him up and take him back for Master to decide," Zhang Qiu said in English as well.

Harry had originally wondered why the four Heavenly Dynasty people were speaking English among themselves, but he soon realized this was specifically so he could understand too. Zhang Qiu had no secrets from him; the trace of strangeness in Harry's heart also dissipated.

"Let's go quickly; the centaurs will be coming soon," Zhang Qiu said. After she finished, the three saluted again, then spun in place and disappeared.

Zhang Qiu had just put the Invisibility Cloak back over Harry's head when the two heard a burst of rapid hoofbeats. Two centaurs holding bows and arrows circled this clearing suspiciously, then very unhappily shot several arrows at the tent.

"Outsiders broke in and have been living here for a long time!" one of the centaurs said in a rage.

"He must have used a spell." The other centaur kicked the tent hard with his front hoof, only to hop around in pain.

"Damn it, I'm going to smash this thing." He said.

"Wait, that seems to be a Muggle item," his companion tried to stop him. "We'd better tell Haige."

"This is our forest, not Haige's," the centaur said, and then began to vent his anger on the tent and the walkie-talkie inside.

"Let's go," Harry said. "I'm afraid we won't find anything now."

"It doesn't matter; the embassy will contact the Ministry of Magic," Zhang Qiu said. "Next is to send Pei Xu away."

"I never thought the Cold War would be so close to me," Harry said with a bitter smile. "I don't even understand England's own position."

"All big figures can't escape the Cold War," Zhang Qiu said. "And you are a big figure in the Wizarding World."

Harry remained silent. He had discovered earlier that many people in the Wizarding World knew that Harry Potter ended Voldemort's dark rule. If one added Deng Buliduo's regard, then perhaps he would have a certain say here in the future.

"However, the Wizarding World can't become the main battlefield after all; after all, there is the Statute of Secrecy," Zhang Qiu said. "You can simply stand from England's perspective and do what you think is right."

"If I really get drawn into the Cold War, then I'd rather choose the Soviet Union," Harry said calmly. "Putting politics aside, I truly feel that the Wizarding World is very suitable for communism."

"Then, in the near future," Zhang Qiu stopped and reached out her hand to him, "I hope you can represent the British Wizarding World, join our Magical Communist International, and fight together for the liberation of all wizards."

"Uh, shouldn't it be the liberation of all mankind?" Harry questioned.

"The Communist International recognizes the Statute of Secrecy, so we don't need to worry about liberating Muggles," Zhang Qiu said in a light tone. "Two worlds, two organizations."

"That's not bad either," Harry nodded. "Shall we send Pei Xu away tomorrow?"

"Yes, Uncle Lu and the others will come to pick him up at night," Zhang Qiu said. "Go back to sleep quickly, comrade. You know, the body is the capital of revolution."

Before returning to the dormitory, Harry carefully detoured to the kitchen. The house-elves were surprised that a student was looking for food at this time, but they still warmly entertained Harry.

When he took off the Invisibility Cloak in front of his bed, Pei Xu's emerald green cat eyes were staring at him tightly.

"Oh, little cutie, you're not asleep either," Harry picked him up and let him sniff the smell of food on his body. "I just went to have a midnight snack. Do you want some dried fish?"

Pei Xu chewed the dried fish in Harry's hand obediently. Harry felt that he shouldn't know yet that he had discovered his secret.

After class the next day, Harry took Pei Xu to the library to do homework with Zhang Qiu. This was something he often did, and Zhang Qiu also liked to tease the cute little cat, only this time, she had a talisman hidden in her palm.

This was a sleeping talisman she got from the Embroidered Uniform Guard. Once stuck on, it would cause a person to fall into a coma for ten hours. For a child like Pei Xu, the time would be even longer, which was enough for them to send Pei Xu away.

Harry found a small cardboard box, put some soft hay inside, and also spread out the soft cushion Pei Xu usually liked best. Now he understood Haige's feeling of sending Nuo Bo away. Perhaps he also knew that Pei Xu had done something wrong and knew that sending him away was good for both sides, but whenever he thought of Pei Xu's cute appearance before, the sadness of parting couldn't stop welling up in his heart.

Luo En didn't know about other things; he only knew that Zhang Qiu had contacted the best psychologist in the Heavenly Dynasty. He also had a reluctant look on his face while moving the box.

Under the cover of night, the three of them, wearing the Invisibility Cloak, carried the box and slowly walked toward the top of the tower they had agreed upon. Luo En complained a little: "Every time I go to Astronomy class, I want to say, this road is really too long, and I have to climb stairs!"

Zhang Qiu explained that because they were carrying Pei Xu, they couldn't use teleportation magic, so the three people would use broomsticks to transport him away. And in order to accommodate the Embroidered Uniform Guard who didn't know Hogwarts, they could only let them come to the highest roof.

"We're at the third floor," Harry counted the floors as he walked. Just then, they found two figures not far ahead, seemingly talking.

All three held their breath, because from their figures, it was clearly two professors.

"I told you, don't take risks anymore," Sineipu said in a low voice.

"The Headmaster won't know," Harry discovered that the speaker was Qiluo. "His mind is all on the savior, and the savior doesn't care at all."

"Deng Buliduo pays attention to every student," Sineipu said with some displeasure. "Besides, you've already gotten what you wanted."

"But that's just a backup plan," Qiluo's expression was a bit ferocious. "I need to go down and take another look; I need a winning method for Wizard's Chess."

"I remind you," Harry saw Sineipu hand him a small bottle, "the effect of the Draught of Living Death weakens every time it is used."

"I understand, this is the last time." Qiluo nodded, and then Harry saw him walk toward the end of the corridor, which made his heart pound.

When Sineipu walked past them, Harry only felt that his heartbeat was really too loud. But Sineipu seemed to have something on his mind and walked away without looking sideways. ===== CHAPTER 30 =====
