Chapter 1218
The man was stunned for a moment, then caught on, and was left speechless.
"Who exactly are you, and why have you suddenly become so powerful!"
1010 Ghost Spirit!
1010 Ghost Spirit!
Ximen Wudi's eyes rolled, and a glint of cunning flashed through his gaze.
"I can tell you, but first you tell me your name."
"Hmph, ridiculous!" The man gave a cold snort, turned his head away, and couldn't be bothered to pay Ximen Wudi any attention.
Slap!
Seeing this, Ximen Wudi drew back and delivered a slap across the man's face.
"You!" The man was jolted awake by Ximen Wudi's slap.
"Speak. If you don't, I'll hit you again!"
"I'll talk, I'll talk, alright!" The man was so wronged he nearly cried. This brat was far too domineering.
"I am a guardian of Guiwang Sect—Ghost Spirit!" the man muttered in a muffled voice.
"Ghost Spirit?" Ximen Wudi raised an eyebrow. "Never heard of it."
Hearing this, the man nearly fainted again, his heart filled with utter frustration.
Ever since joining Guiwang Sect, Ghost Spirit had enjoyed the utmost reverence—when had he ever suffered such humiliation?
And now, to be shamed by some unknown youth—damn, he was absolutely miserable.
"My master is the Sect Master of Guiwang Sect. If you dare insult me, once we reach Guiwang Sect, my master will surely kill you!" Ghost Spirit said darkly, his face grim, every word ground out between clenched teeth.
"Oh?" Hearing this, Ximen Wudi couldn't help but feel pleased—he had been worried the upper echelons of Guiwang Sect wouldn't leave their mountain so easily.
"Since you're a member of Guiwang Sect, let me ask you—do you know where the main altar of Guiwang Sect is?" Ximen Wudi pressed toward the man as he spoke, asking anxiously.
"So you really are here to cause trouble!" The man finally realized, and his eyes lit up.
"Haha, kid, you're afraid of my master, aren't you?" The man suddenly burst out laughing, his face full of mockery.
"Pah! I'm a strapping seven-foot man—how could I possibly fear your measly Guiwang Sect!" Ximen Wudi scoffed disdainfully, his tone brimming with contempt.
Seeing Ximen Wudi's reaction, Ghost Spirit couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. It seemed his guess was right—this Ximen Wudi really was afraid of Guiwang Sect.
"Hmph, if you're afraid, then stop being so arrogant. Surrender yourself now, so my master doesn't have to come out of seclusion and wipe out both you and your entire sect!"
"Noise!" Seeing the man babbling on endlessly, killing intent flashed in Ximen Wudi's eyes. His figure blurred, and in an instant he was right in front of the man.
Bang!
Without hesitation, Ximen Wudi drove a fist into the man's stomach.
The man let out a wretched cry as a stream of hot liquid flowed down his trouser leg. His body went limp, and he dropped to his knees on the ground.
"Speak—where is the main altar of Guiwang Sect?" Ximen Wudi reached out and clamped his hand around the man's throat.
The man broke into a violent coughing fit, his eyeballs bulging, tongue lolling out, hands clawing at the air wildly.
"You… you let me go, I'll… talk…" the man said with great difficulty, feeling his breath growing more and more labored.
"If you'd agreed earlier, we'd have been done with it!" Ximen Wudi snorted coldly and released his grip.
Freed, the man gasped violently a few times, and a flash of venomous hatred passed through his eyes.
"Kid, my Guiwang Sect is the second-ranked major sect in the Northern Domain. If you dare kill me, you will incur heavenly retribution and die a horrible death!"
"Heh heh." Ximen Wudi couldn't help but grin.
"Not killing you would be the greatest sin. I'll send you on your way!" After Ximen Wudi spoke, a mass of black mist rose from his body and surged straight toward the man.
"Ah!" The man was terrified out of his wits and dodged desperately.
Pfft!
Yet the black mist seemed to possess a life of its own. No matter how the man dashed left and right, it clung to him, swirling around him.
"Ah!" Within moments, the man's entire body had turned pitch-black, and he let out a wretched, pitiful wail.
"Mercy! I'll talk, isn't that enough?"
"Speak!"
"I… I don't know. I'm just a guardian!"
"What!" Ximen Wudi's pupils contracted sharply at the words.
"Could it be that Guiwang Sect isn't as simple as it appears on the surface?" Ximen Wudi's brows knit deeply as he fell into thought.
"My master cultivates demonic arts. Every hundred years, he summons his disciples and sends them out to train in the mortal world."
"On the days when the Thirty-Six Grotto-Heavens and Seventy-Two Blessed Lands recruit new disciples, my master personally takes the field, widely inviting sect masters or their direct disciples to visit the sect to discuss joining forces to exterminate the demonic and heretical."
"So that's how it is!" Ximen Wudi nodded. "Then let me ask you—where is your headquarters?"
"The… the headquarters is… it's…"
"Damn!" Ximen Wudi's heart lurched, his face changed drastically, and his body vanished from the spot with a whoosh.
"Hey, where are you going?"
After Ximen Wudi vanished in a flash, Ghost Spirit finally came back to his senses. He had just been about to chase after Ximen Wudi, but the moment he moved, he collapsed to the ground, wailing in pain.
"What the hell did that brat use? How could my dantian and meridians be damaged this badly?"
The man struggled to his feet, wanting to continue searching for Ximen Wudi, but after only a few steps he collapsed again, looking half-dead.
Once outside the city gate, Ximen Wudi activated the Swift Wind technique and raced off at top speed. Before long, he entered the vast, endless forest.
Ximen Wudi stood atop a tree branch, looking down over the land, his divine sense already covering a radius of a thousand meters.
"Strange!" Ximen Wudi's brows knit slightly. Logically speaking, the man's words couldn't be false.
But why did he have absolutely no recollection of it?
Could it be that he was too ignorant and ill-informed? No, that couldn't be right—he had once been considered a grandmaster of his generation. Could it really be that he had been in closed-door cultivation for too long and forgotten everything he had learned before?
"Enough, let's not think about it for now. I'll head to a nearby town to inquire and see if I can pick up some information!" Ximen Wudi shook his head, casting the doubts to the back of his mind, and his figure suddenly leaped down.
Boom!
The instant he landed on the ground, Ximen Wudi felt a tremor run from beneath his feet.
Looking up, he saw several fine horses in the distance, pulling a number of luxurious carriages racing toward him.
Ximen Wudi's gaze turned solemn as he warily stared at the caravan.
The caravan slowed to a stop some fifty meters away from Ximen Wudi, ceasing to advance.
"Who goes there!" A sudden explosive shout rang out, and several martial artists leapt down from the carriages, walking toward Ximen Wudi.
"Scram!" A sharp glint flashed in Ximen Wudi's eyes as he growled lowly.
"Oh ho, quite the arrogant tone!" The leader's eyes flickered with an icy, bone-piercing killing intent as he said coldly.
"If you don't want to die, scram right now!" Ximen Wudi's tone was calm; the indifferent voice sent a chill through the crowd.
"What big talk!" The leader flew into a rage. "Even if today were the King of Hell himself, I'd still slaughter you!"
Having said that, the man waved his hand, signaling his subordinates to take Ximen Wudi down.
Several martial artists took the order and lunged to Ximen Wudi's front in an instant.
Ximen Wudi raised one hand, flicked two fingers, and two golden-yellow sword Qi bolts shot forth.
Puff puff puff!
With two crisp sounds, two martial artists clutched their throats and collapsed to the ground.
"Hiss—"
Seeing this, the remaining men each sucked in a cold breath, a thick terror surfacing in their eyes.
They never could have imagined that this frail-looking youth was actually a ruthless character.
"Retreat!"
Seeing the situation turn bad, the leader made a decisive call on the spot; with one wave of his hand, the group turned tail and fled.
1012 Lei Ting Slash!
1012 Lei Ting Slash!
"Want to run? Too late!" A cold glint flashed in Ximen Wudi's eyes as his figure suddenly leapt up.
"Lei Ting Slash!"
