Chapter 1409

A trace of worry surfaced in his eyes.

The people of the Yuwen clan, though greedy,

still knew what mattered.

If they truly offended Ximen Wudi too deeply,

the Great Han would surely attack the Great Xia.

"Rest assured, since I have promised you, I will absolutely not go back on my word.

As for everything else,

you need not trouble yourselves with it!"

Ximen Wudi spoke again.

And just as his words had barely fallen,

Yuwen Chengdu nodded.

After that, he said no more.

And at this moment, Ximen Wudi

closed his eyes to rest.

What came next was to face the Great Xia Dynasty's offensive.

And at this very time,

within the Great Xia Dynasty,

word had also been received.

Upon learning that Lu Hong had surrendered to the Great Han,

the entire imperial palace fell into chaos.

Especially Yuwen Baye, who was utterly beside himself with rage.

At this moment, he stood atop the city wall, looked down at the soldiers below, and spoke.

"The Great Han's strength is formidable; our Great Xia is bound to lose without a doubt.

But now we have only one path forward.

That is to crush the Great Han.

Otherwise, we are certain to die.

Now, I command you—

muster the great army; within three months you must break through the pass and march on the Han Imperial City.

Those who disobey will be executed on the spot!"

His voice carried an aura of deadly killing intent.

And just as his words had barely fallen,

the faces of the Great Xia soldiers around him instantly darkened.

Though the Great Xia Dynasty had a wealth of experts,

in recent years it had suffered severe losses.

Now, even members of the imperial clan had fallen within the city.

If this dragged on, it would surely bring about a great calamity.

Therefore, upon hearing the command,

without the slightest hesitation, they began preparing to attack.

At this moment, their faces even revealed savage expressions.

Over these years, the Yuwen clan had risen to power,

and the Great Xia imperial house had gradually lost its grip.

They did not wish to keep enduring like this any longer.

If not,

they would die in the end.

Moreover, if things went on this way,

the Great Xia Dynasty would surely suffer a grievous loss of Earth Yuan Qi.

This was something they absolutely did not wish to see.

Just after Yuwen Baye had finished issuing his command,

Yuwen Chengdu stood to one side, awaiting the order.

And at this moment, the other party said coldly,

"Yuwen Chengdu, this time you are to lead three thousand Li Feilong Guards,

coordinating with our main force to attack the city.

If you succeed, I will reward you handsomely!"

Upon hearing the words, Yuwen Chengdu could not help but be startled.

A look of surprise appeared in his eyes.

Then he bowed and gave thanks, saying,

"This general obeys the decree!"

Having said that, he turned and left.

Leaving only Yuwen Baye behind.

Watching his son's departing back, his lips couldn't help but tremble slightly.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't understand why Yuwen Chengdu would defect to the Great Han.

The other's cultivation talent was not low.

And he was utterly loyal.

Yet this time, he had chosen to rebel.

Could it be that Great Xia truly had no hope left?

Thinking of this, how could he dare show the slightest negligence.

Then, he gave the order.

"All men, assemble.

We attack the city!"

"Roar!"

In an instant, the war cries shook the void.

Vast blood qi surged skyward.

Causing even the heavens and earth to tremble.

Then, the great army charged forward.

At this moment, every general and soldier within the Great Xia Dynasty boiled with fervor.

They were longing for victory.

Only victory could preserve the wealth and honor of their Great Xia.

Meanwhile, Ximen Wudi had also led his carriage into the Yuwen Clan.

On this day, every soldier of the Great Han donned armor.

A fierce, savage glint shone in their eyes.

This time, they would not only seize the grain and fodder.

They would also annihilate the Great Xia Dynasty.

And just after the great army set out—

Outside the Yuwen Clan, an angry shout rang out.

"Ximen Wudi, you bully us too far—to actually dare slaughter my Great Xia Dynasty.

Today, I shall be utterly irreconcilable with you!"

As the voice rang out, endless Great Xia cavalry gathered before the gates of the Yuwen Clan.
