Chapter 1750

~9 min read 1,705 words

For some reason, Ruth felt that Ximen Wudi's image in her mind was growing taller and more majestic, like a man who stood tall beneath heaven and earth.

"I know what you're thinking," Ximen Wudi shook his head. "Actually, Karagunis wasn't the man I first met. When he first broke through his constraints and ascended to the Divine King realm, he was indeed dominant and tyrannical—but now, that dominance has vanished completely. I believe he now wears a different face."

After a pause, Ximen Wudi said: "Perhaps, this is his true face."

Ruth's chewing motion stiffened, then she let out a soft sigh: "Maybe he's a very skilled actor."

"I understand your thoughts," Ximen Wudi shook his head. "You Americans know nothing of the Dark World, but I know it well. Karagunis's name once echoed throughout the entire Dark World—he was a supreme big shot. Someone like that could never hide his identity for life. So I'm certain your father is also a supreme big shot of the Dark World—there's no doubt about it."

"So what happened to him now?" Ruth asked. "Can you find him?"

"Don't you Americans have a word called 'immigrant'?" Ximen Wudi smiled. "Your father clearly fled from hatred. After all, if he chose to return to the Dark World, his enemies would be countless."

"Then on what grounds do you assume he'd hide in Africa?" Ruth's beautiful eyes fixed on Ximen Wudi and asked.

"He's now thriving—wealthy and powerful. Why risk returning to the Dark World? Wouldn't that be digging his own grave?" Ximen Wudi shook his head. "So this matter is simple: just follow this line of thought further."

After a pause, Ximen Wudi's eyes gleamed with sharp insight: "Karagunis went to Africa for only two possible reasons—the first is…"

Ruth frowned: "What possible reason?"

"The second possibility… he's chasing after something. But that's extremely unlikely—he probably went for a woman, and her identity might be even more sensitive," Ximen Wudi smiled. "Of course, this is just my guess. The actual situation remains unknown. For now, we can only wait."

"I don't care whether your guess is right or wrong. I only know that if you help me find him, you'll be the person I respect most—I'll forever remember your kindness," Ruth gazed at Ximen Wudi, her eyes brimming with hope.

Ximen Wudi smiled bitterly: "Actually, you don't need to be so grateful. After all, my relationship with Apollo is far closer than yours. I belong to Atlantis with the Strategist. If you're willing, you can call me Brother from now on."

Ruth smiled, then shook her head: "Sorry, Ximen Wudi. Though you saved me, I haven't accepted you as my brother. Besides, you seem younger than me. If you truly want to be my brother, then show some humility on this point."

Ximen Wudi laughed heartily: "Alright, my little Ruth, you win. I give up, ok?"

He picked up his cup, drank some water, and continued eating breakfast.

This time, Ximen Wudi didn't bring up anything like "Aren't you going to tell me your name?"

In truth, he had tested Ruth's sincerity before—but her behavior pleased him immensely. The girl showed not the slightest trace of lying, which made him view her with new respect.

Ruth looked at Ximen Wudi: "By the way, where will you stay tonight?"

As she asked, a faint blush rose on her lovely face—whether from heat or embarrassment, it was unclear.

"Of course I'll stay at the Sinavis Hotel," Ximen Wudi pointed to the sign beside him. "Isn't it already written there?"

"Then stay here," Ruth stood up. "You slept in my bed yesterday, so I'll sleep on the sofa with you."

Saying this, the tall blonde woman kicked off her slippers and leapt onto the sofa, curling up.

Ximen Wudi stared at Ruth's alluring form and nearly spat blood from his nose!

"Hey, we can't do this—it's inappropriate, very inappropriate," Ximen Wudi said.

"What's wrong? Don't you want to share a bed with me?" Ruth blinked, her tone dripping with seduction. This woman seemed to have changed her face entirely before Ximen Wudi.

"Uh… we're not that familiar with each other…" Ximen Wudi coughed twice. "I'm afraid if we sleep together, something beyond friendship might happen."

"Nothing beyond friendship will happen between us," Ruth said. "You're a normal man, I'm a normal woman—so our development should be unrestricted."

With that, she closed her eyes, turned sideways, and faced away from Ximen Wudi.

Her slender curves remained clearly visible in the morning light, inviting endless imagination.

Ximen Wudi stared at Ruth's back. After a minute of silence, he finally gathered courage and shouted: "Hey, you haven't taken a shower yet!"

His shout was like thunder striking from nowhere—it nearly shattered Ruth's eardrums!

She clapped her hands over her ears, whirled around, and stared at Ximen Wudi in disbelief: "What did you just say? Say it again!"

"I said… I suggest you take a shower first. Otherwise, it'll ruin your appearance…" Ximen Wudi swallowed hard.

For some reason, he suddenly worried—what if he'd said the wrong thing? How would he recover?

Ruth's face flushed crimson! She leapt off the sofa and dashed into the bathroom.

Ximen Wudi propped his elbow on the table and laughed—but his laughter abruptly stopped.

"Damn! I forgot to tell Ruth! Her clothes and passport are in the room!" Ximen Wudi smacked his forehead hard!

Yet, after slapping himself so hard, he felt no pain.

Ruth had poked her head out of the bathroom, holding a brand-new set of women's clothing, which she tossed into Ximen Wudi's arms.

"Thank you, Ruth," Ximen Wudi grinned. "Now my heart feels a little more at ease."

Saying this, he walked into the bedroom to wash up.

Though Ximen Wudi was already twenty-five, due to his extraordinary talent and diligent cultivation, his physique remained excellent—so even in this foreign land across the ocean, he could still become the object of many young girls' admiration—as long as he was handsome.

Well, except for someone like Ruth.

When Ximen Wudi returned to the living room after washing up, he found Ruth seated on the edge of the bed.

She wore a black short fitted leather pant, a white knit top, and a white wool coat—her figure now accentuated with striking curves, looking extremely sensual and alluring.

Ruth was naturally an Eastern beauty with skin like jade. Now, dressed like this, she seemed to radiate a captivating glow from head to toe.

"I made breakfast. Go eat," Ruth said, her voice soft as a spring breeze.

Ximen Wudi did not refuse.

Ruth had truly prepared breakfast: milk, fried eggs, sandwiches, and a French consommé.

"Your cooking could rival a Michelin-starred chef," Ximen Wudi said, holding his plate. "But I still prefer beef noodles—I think mine are more authentic than any Michelin-starred chef's."

A look of confusion also filled Ruth's lovely face.

Who could possibly be knocking at this dead of night? And Ruth was single!

Could it be her friends?

This thought flashed again in Ximen Wudi's mind.

"I'll open the door," Ruth said, struggling out of Ximen Wudi's arms, then wrapping herself in a towel and rushing to the living room to activate the surveillance video.

At that moment, Ruth saw that the visitors were a man and a woman.

The man wore a baseball cap, had an ordinary face, and was dressed in a white tracksuit; the woman was in an all-black fitted outfit, high-heeled shoes, with a slender figure and delicate features, looking quite dashing and spirited.

However, after Ruth took a careful look at the woman's face, she couldn't help showing a surprised expression.

She rubbed her eyes, confirmed it carefully once more, then called out: "Xkes Linda?"

This man and woman were none other than Ruth's former comrade-in-arms, now her mortal enemy!

Weren't they already arrested and brought to justice by the American government?

Hearing this, Ximen Wudi immediately sat up and asked: "You know this Xkes Linda?"

"I do, I've crossed hands with her." Ruth nodded, her brows slightly furrowed: "But she shouldn't be here, this is Africa."

Saying this, she shook her head and said: "Give me a moment, I'll change clothes first."

After Ruth finished speaking, she undid her bath towel, drawing Ximen Wudi's gaze, then she pulled the towel away, walked into the bathroom, and slammed the door shut.

Looking at the scene behind the bathroom's glass door, a strong sense of amazement welled up in Ximen Wudi's heart.

Although Ruth hadn't gone in the buff, the scene at this moment was still filled with an extreme allure.

However, Ruth didn't take all of her undergarments with her, but chose to leave them behind.

After all, if she really had to do certain things, these items wouldn't be convenient to carry, and leaving them behind was actually safer.

"This silly girl, why would she do that?"

Ximen Wudi shook his head, then folded that set of white underwear into a paper airplane, tucked it under the pillow, and after that, he left Ruth's bedroom.

"Hey, Ruth, this is my room." Ximen Wudi opened the guest room door and said with a smile.

He had assumed the other party would immediately hide in the bathroom, or go into the wardrobe, but Ruth just stood in front of Ximen Wudi, not budging an inch.

"What are you standing there dazed for? Come in." Ximen Wudi said with a grin: "This is the nicest hotel suite I've ever stayed in."

Ruth looked at Ximen Wudi's smiling face, her eyes shimmering: "You don't mind me going in?"

"Mind what? We're not blood-related." Ximen Wudi said.

"Regardless, I still want to express my gratitude to you, you saved me." Ruth said: "Back then in the mountains, if it weren't for you, I would have fallen to my death long ago."

"You're my friend, isn't protecting a friend my duty?" Ximen Wudi said with a beaming smile: "But, to tell the truth, I really didn't expect back then that such explosive power was hidden inside your thin, small body…"

Hearing this, Ruth couldn't help feeling very embarrassed, she said: "I had been drinking that time."

"Oh, no wonder then." Ximen Wudi burst out laughing.
