Chapter 1767
The conversation between these two sounded like an argument; those who didn't know might think they were old friends.
"Military Advisor, perhaps we could discuss this calmly," Ximen Wudi coughed twice, gritting his teeth as he spoke: "I know you love me, but I'm already married with children—why must you be so cruel to me?"
"Married with children? Hah. First, survive this room." The Military Advisor cast him a cold glance, then turned and walked out.
But the instant she stepped forward, a blade of light exploded out of thin air—straight for her throat!
Clang!
The tip of the Phantom Blade collided with the scabbard behind the Military Advisor!
A fierce gust surged upward, whipping her robes!
"Your reaction is somewhat swift, but still falls short of expectations, Military Advisor," said Ximen Wudi.
Though he spoke thus, he dared not lower his guard, gripping the Phantom Blade tightly, ready for battle at any moment.
The Military Advisor did not answer immediately.
Only after the violent gust had gradually subsided did she speak: "Ximen Wudi, we grew up together. You know me well, and I know you just as well—do you really think I'd leave you any chance to turn the tide?"
Ximen Wudi shook his head: "I've never underestimated you."
As he spoke, he suddenly felt his eyelid twitching more and more violently.
"What's going on? My eyelid won't stop jumping." Ximen Wudi rubbed his forehead, wiped away sweat, then said: "I'm going to the restroom."
Without another word, he ran into the restroom.
"Hah. Truly pathetic," the Military Advisor sneered coldly, then stepped to the window, gazing downward.
Beneath the night sky, a car was slowly passing by.
It was Lin Aoxue's vehicle.
"This is the car that will take you home. I hope you return unharmed," the Military Advisor murmured.
…………
Lin Aoxue's palms were drenched in sweat.
This stretch of road wasn't far from Ximen Wudi's location—normally, it should be at least four or five kilometers, yet the car never accelerated properly.
Through the car's radio, Lin Aoxue had already heard Ximen Wudi's voice.
Her cheeks flushed red, her eyes brimming with boundless tenderness and affection.
"You've got to push harder—I'll always be right behind you, supporting you," Lin Aoxue whispered softly, her eyes shining with gentle yet resolute light.
"Young Lady, why don't you rest for a while?" her assistant, noticing her poor condition, hurriedly said.
"I can't sleep. I'm not tired," Lin Aoxue shook her head.
This girl was incredibly resilient—even beyond many men's imagination.
"Young Lady, you've been working too hard lately. You must rest," the assistant urged again.
"It's fine," Lin Aoxue smiled faintly. "I feel great. Not tired at all."
Her eyes were red.
Out of worry, tears had long moistened her eyelids.
This girl always buried every thought inside herself, never letting others know, never allowing herself even a hint of suffering.
Lin Aoxue took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and struggled to keep tears from spilling out.
She knew that when a woman cried, she looked utterly worn out—and that would make her image in Ximen Wudi's eyes even worse.
Under these circumstances, Lin Aoxue absolutely could not cry.
Yet this suppression was agony for Lin Aoxue, who had always been so stubborn.
This woman never knew how to express her emotions, nor how to make decisions within her own heart.
So this time, even though she knew Ximen Wudi was in grave danger, she chose silence—chose to bear it alone, seeking no one's understanding, only wishing to stand by Ximen Wudi's side, never leaving, never abandoning him.
"Remember what I said today," the driver turned his head to warn Lin Aoxue: "If Young Master Su is attacked on the way, call the police immediately—otherwise, the consequences will be unimaginable."
"Understood. I will," Lin Aoxue said seriously. "Please focus on driving. Don't be distracted."
…………
Meanwhile, a man in the passenger seat pulled out his phone.
"Brother, Ximen Wudi has successfully lured Lin Aoxue out. I'll kidnap her and hand her over to you right away," the man whispered.
"Don't alert them. I don't want any complications," came the cold, gravelly voice on the other end.
"Yes, I understand. No problems, Brother. This time, the money's coming easy—those fools dared to steal our goods, heh," the man chuckled, his smile brimming with cruelty.
"When the job's done, you'll be rewarded," the voice replied. "I've already arranged your escape route."
"Got it, Brother. I'll make sure it's flawless," the man chuckled.
He hung up, wiped his nose, then drew a rope from his waist.
A black cloth sack was slung from his shoulder and lowered.
"I told you—I'm going to kill you this time. No one can stop me," the man grinned, revealing icy white teeth.
Then he looped the rope over the railing and tossed it down.
…………
Ximen Wudi was washing his hands, still thinking of the earlier scene: "Strange… why did my eyelid suddenly twitch so violently?"
But the next second, every hair on Ximen Wudi's body stood on end!
For before him, a tall, slender figure had already appeared!
His attire was plain, yet his aura was piercing and deadly—like a sharp blade, as if even a light touch could shatter the surrounding air, cleaving even sunlight in two!
"1657 cannot possibly beat me."
"Why?" Ximen Wudi's voice carried a cold, piercing edge.
"I told you, I'm going to tear it down and sell it for money." Zeus smiled. "Such a beautiful house deserves a memento, don't you think?"
"You are insulting the cultural traditions of Atlantis." Ximen Wudi said coldly.
"I didn't mean to." Zeus said. "You should understand, I was forced into it at the time."
"So you're going to tear down the entire city?" Ximen Wudi asked.
"Yes, it was a foolish move." Zeus shrugged, blunt as ever.
"Do you still hold a grudge about what happened back then?" Ximen Wudi stared at Zeus.
"Of course I won't forget." Zeus said. "The mistakes your ancestors made must be borne by us!"
"But don't try to make me shoulder them." Ximen Wudi's tone gradually turned icy.
"No, I think you're the best candidate — not only because you're stronger than me, but for another reason—" Zeus pointed at himself. "This is my turf."
As he spoke, a fierce killing intent suddenly surged up around Zeus!
"So I advise you to give up that notion." Ximen Wudi said. "Because you cannot possibly beat me."
"That's supposed to be my line." Zeus grinned. "After all, in your memory, I've always been the kind of sore loser who can't afford to lose."
"Heh, are you testing me?" Ximen Wudi saw through Zeus's thoughts. "You want to know whether I've really become stronger than back then, don't you?"
"Yes, I'm curious." Zeus's gaze burned bright.
"Actually, it's nothing much. The reason I beat you back then was pure luck."
"You were lucky — my leg happened to be injured." Zeus spread his hands.
"I'm stating a fact." Ximen Wudi gave him a casual glance, then turned toward the beach ahead. "Alright, my patience is spent."
Then Ximen Wudi took a single step forward!
Zeus's pupils contracted slightly!
He could clearly feel a gust of fierce wind rushing toward his face!
Ximen Wudi's speed was clearly many times faster than before!
Whoosh!
A sharp metallic blade swept across from the side!
Zeus crossed both arms to block, but even so, Ximen Wudi still sliced open his arm!
Blood immediately seeped out, staining the white shirt red.
"Now it's your turn." Ximen Wudi said, and his right knee drove viciously into Zeus's lower abdomen!
