Chapter 907
One could say that in this world, even celestial beings were no better than dogs, and myths roamed the earth.
Therefore, the Four Great Holy Monks of the Nine Provinces had not yet grown to full strength.
In the midst of their struggle against the Evil King Shi Zhixuan's demonic-Buddha conflict, they were successively demonized by Shi Zhixuan, and thus faded from the world.
As a result, the fame of these Four Great Holy Monks was actually unknown throughout the realm.
However, in this world centered on the Great Zhou, the experts, whether in quality or quantity, were not as numerous as those of the Nine Provinces.
Therefore, after the Four Great Holy Monks joined forces to redeem the Evil King, they broke through their shackles and reached their present realm.
It can be said that if the Four Great Holy Monks were to strike together,
aside from a very few people in this Great Zhou world, most would only be able to sit trapped within, redeemed by them.
Yet the Heavenly Demon Cang Qu happened to be an existence whose strength closely resembled that very few in the Great Zhou world.
Therefore, after this fierce battle, although the Four Great Holy Monks had exhausted every means and brought out all their lifetime's ultimate skills,
combined with the Four Symbols Formation, where their minds were linked and they fought the enemy in unison,
within half a shichen, both sides had already exchanged over a thousand moves.
The battle's aftershocks had reduced all the other meditation halls and palace pavilions, except for the pavilion where that graceful figure stood, to rubble.
Even the ground where they fought had been beaten down and sunken by several chi.
Fighting to this point, they had nearly drawn out true fury.
Although the Four Great Holy Monks had indeed unleashed all their ultimate techniques, Cang Qu, wary of that graceful figure and Wu Zetian, had never used his full power.
Therefore, this thousand-year-old ancient monastery, Wang Si, could still retain a little of itself today.
"You four old things, your skills cannot take me down.
That woman on the pavilion—if you don't make a move now, I'll just kill these four bald donkeys."
Fighting until now, Cang Qu had actually gained greatly from the Four Great Holy Monks' techniques and moves.
After all, the Dao De Jing was a cultivation art that grew fiercer and more active the more one fought, making the cultivator ever stronger.
Cang Qu's demonic art was far above the Dao De Jing, so naturally he could also improve through battle.
But fighting until now, the Four Great Holy Monks' moves and techniques had already been used more than once.
Gradually, the improvement to Cang Qu became increasingly negligible.
Moreover, Cang Qu was eager to complete the Qinglong Society's mission and did not wish to remain entangled with the people of this world any longer.
Therefore, he proactively challenged that graceful figure on the pavilion to battle.
Hearing Cang Qu speak thus, the Four Great Holy Monks felt both ashamed and surprised.
The four of them joining forces had not only taken down the once-unstoppable Evil King Shi Zhixuan, but had also broken through their shackles, ultimately reaching a realm unprecedented by their predecessors.
It could be said that the Four Great Holy Monks believed themselves invincible under heaven.
Who would have thought that today, this suddenly appearing monstrous demon would be so fierce and stubborn?
The four of them fighting together until now had nearly exhausted all their means.
Yet this fierce and stubborn demon was not only handling them with ease, but seemed as though he could send them to their deaths at any moment.
Facing such a situation, how could the Four Great Holy Monks not be shocked?
Upon hearing this, Wisdom's face grew even more grief-stricken. He suddenly withdrew from the attack circle, pressed his palms together in solemn Buddhist reverence, intoned a Buddhist invocation, and then said,
"The demon is far too fierce and stubborn—truly a demon unmatched through the ages.
Today this monk vows to cast aside everything to redeem this demon."
"Senior Brother Wisdom..."
Although the other three Holy Monks were still attacking, upon seeing Wisdom act thus, they were all greatly startled.
Although they were not from the same sect, but rather originated from different factions of the Fomen,
ever since they joined hands to redeem Shi Zhixuan and formed their bond, they had long since forged an inseparable connection.
Over the years, cultivating Buddhism and practicing martial arts together, their minds had become linked.
Long ago they were not actual senior and junior brothers, yet were even closer than blood brothers.
Seeing Wisdom suddenly act this way, the remaining three Holy Monks all knew he intended to sacrifice himself to achieve righteousness, using his own body to redeem the demon.
They wished to dissuade him, to stop Wisdom from doing this.
But with Wisdom gone, the pressure on the three Holy Monks surged—how could they find the chance to speak?
Seeing Wisdom act thus, Cang Qu knew this old monk was preparing to unleash a great technique.
But his superior skill gave him boldness; he simply did not care.
He merely pressed the three Holy Monks with frenzied attacks, completely ignoring Wisdom.
How could Wisdom fail to see Cang Qu's arrogance, even his utter contempt for him?
If not for his many years of Buddhist cultivation, his mind and spirit would long since have been stable.
Otherwise, this alone might have made him spit blood from rage.
Fortunately, he was after all a monk of great virtue; at this moment he steeled his will and paid no heed to external things.
With his entire being, he gathered his true essence, preparing to burn his own life to deliver a thunderous strike against Cang Qu, this demon unmatched since antiquity.
Om (an), Ma (ma), Ni (ni), Pad (ba), Mei (mei), Hum (hong)
Wisdom gathered all his true essence, madly burning his vital energy and spirit, reaching the absolute peak.
His lips humming, he uttered these six syllables.
Each syllable was as if countless monks were there, vigorously chanting sutras to redeem the demon.
At the final syllable, a wheel of dazzling golden Buddhist light appeared at the horizon, descending from above to envelop everything.
For a moment, the ruined Wang Si, cloaked in this golden Buddhist light, seemed to become a Buddhist kingdom upon the earth.
"I didn't expect it to be the Six-Syllable Great Ming Mantra—I underestimated you, old monk."
Watching the Buddhist light gradually envelop everything, Cang Qu also rarely grew somewhat serious.
After offering a brief word of admiration, he said to Wu Zetian,
"Your Majesty, stay close behind me. I'm going to face the enemy with everything I have."
Wu Zetian, hearing this, could not help but feel utterly speechless.
This Heaven Demon Cang Qu, when he had just gone all-out, could clearly have already defeated the Four Great Holy Monks.
Yet he had to play the braggart, waiting until that old Monk unleashed his ultimate move before getting serious and fighting at full strength.
Wasn't this just setting a trap?
Only Wu Zetian did not know that this was also a method of cultivation for Cang Qu's demonic art.
After a bout of inner grumbling, and despite her helplessness, Wu Zetian could only follow closely behind Cang Qu.
After finishing his instructions to Wu Zetian, Cang Qu directly summoned the Demon Seed.
A ball of energy, whose origin could not be discerned and whose material could not be identified, suddenly appeared at Cang Qu's side.
That energy cluster was about the size of a human head, as if everything around it could be drawn into it.
The three great holy monks, including Di Xin, upon seeing this ball of energy, could not help but exchange glances, yet none of them dared to look at it.
Their Buddhist cultivation was profound; naturally they could tell this was an extremely terrifying Demon Seed, one never seen before!
Compared to Shi Zhixuan of those days, it was incomparably more advanced.
Only Wisdom, by burning everything, chanted the Six-Syllable Bright Mantra, drawing forth the earthly Buddha-realm into the world.
At this moment, within this stretch of Buddha-realm, he was almost like a Buddha himself.
Therefore, although the Demon Seed was fearsome, Wisdom dared to look at it.
"What a demon, truly not comparable to an ordinary demon.
Today this seat will sacrifice everything to subdue you."
Wisdom's whole body was bathed in golden Buddhist light, as he struck out with a palm through empty air.
The Buddhist light at the horizon suddenly converged together, forming a gigantic palm that smote down toward Cang Qu from the heavens.
Seeing this, the three great holy monks immediately retreated far out of the way.
Cang Qu, upon seeing it, instead smiled disdainfully,
"What dogshit Buddha. Today this Heaven Demon will show you the destruction of Buddha."
Having said this, Cang Qu prepared to drive the Demon Seed with full force, intending to clash head-on with Wisdom.
Cang Qu suddenly advanced instead of retreating, carrying the Demon Seed and Wu Zetian with him, and charged up to meet the giant palm from the heavens.
Wisdom was also like a wrathful Vajra; seeing Cang Qu so fierce and stubborn, he ceaselessly drove more Buddhist light into the giant palm.
