Chapter 933

~7 min read 1,321 words

These attendants were mostly You Dongying beauties with revealing clothes and voluptuous figures.

Such strange corridors left General Chilaowen, who was used to Buddhist temples, somewhat dumbfounded.

"The benefactor is perhaps wondering why this corridor is so strange?"

Renguang followed closely behind General Chilaowen.

Seeing General Chilaowen's surprise, he immediately explained with a smile,

"Buddhism spread from Tianzhu to the Central Plains, and from the Central Plains to You Dongying.

When it reached You Dongying, there were one hundred thousand demons on this land.

The behavior of these demons was vastly different from that of the demons in the Central Plains, and they were worshipped by the local You Dongying people.

The first generation of missionary monks, after combining the actual situation,

reached an agreement with the demons.

As long as the demons were willing to turn over a new leaf and join our Buddhism, they could all cultivate positive results.

Those unwilling to submit were all suppressed by the joint efforts of the good demons and the missionary masters.

So today, these good demons and the You Dongying samurai who contributed to the mission

have all been incorporated into our Shinto system and are worshipped by our Buddhist people."

This story was almost like a myth.

General Chilaowen listened and couldn't help but feel curious.

Could it be that this You Dongying really once had demons?

It was just that it wasn't convenient to ask this.

For one thing, this was no different from questioning the other party's faith, which would only invite unnecessary trouble.

For another, this really had nothing to do with General Chilaowen.

He just chatted idly with Renguang about these stories of You Dongying samurai and demons.

After walking through this long corridor, he finally entered the main hall.

He had thought that looking from the outside, this main hall towered into the clouds.

According to the style of Buddhist temples in the Great Yuan of the Nine Provinces, there should be a golden Buddha several zhang tall in the main hall.

Unexpectedly, after coming in, he discovered that in the huge main hall, there was only a corpse rack that looked like a charred corpse, placed where the golden Buddha should have been.

"This is the Buddha worshipped by this temple—the Renguang Buddha."

Renguang didn't wait for General Chilaowen to ask, pointed at the corpse that looked like a charred corpse, and said solemnly to General Chilaowen.

"What? Renguang Buddha? What kind of Buddha is this?"

In the Great Yuan, General Chilaowen was also considered a Buddhist; he didn't know three thousand Buddhas, but at least he recognized most of them.

But among the many Buddhas he knew, there was absolutely no Renguang Buddha like this charred corpse.

No matter how you looked at this Renguang Buddha, it just seemed like a corpse that had been sucked dry of its essence and spirit.

How could it be called a Buddha here?

And Renguang Buddha, this novice monk also called himself Renguang, how could it be so strange?

This question from General Chilaowen was extremely rude.

Renguang didn't mind at all, wearing a warm smile on his face, and said,

"My Buddha Renguang originated from a temple in Hokkaido.

When he was born, his appearance was extraordinarily handsome.

Even his own mother was intoxicated by his world-tilting beauty.

His father was jealous of his appearance, so he sent him to a temple on the mountain to become a monk.

When he grew up, my Buddha was assigned by the elders in the temple to go down the mountain to beg for alms.

As soon as he went down the mountain, he would attract countless women to watch.

From those of eighty or ninety years old to infants of six years old.

As long as they were women, they would swarm to see my Buddha and be intoxicated by my Buddha's appearance.

Those who were bold and unrestrained would even directly want my Buddha to return to secular life and go home with them to get married.

But my Buddha had grown up in a Buddhist temple since childhood and had long been devoted to the Buddha.

Therefore, he bitterly refused, and after the alms-begging ended, he returned to the temple on the mountain.

After returning, he found that his heart was full of the troubles of female beauty.

After telling the elders, under the guidance of the elders, he returned to his meditation room to recite thoughts and resolve them himself.

After half a month like this, he finally resolved the strange thoughts in his heart and was able to clarify his state of mind.

Only then did he go down the mountain again under the elder's assignment to continue his alms-begging and cultivation.

It was just that this time, he attracted countless women to watch again.

Even women from Honshu and even Kyushu Island heard of my Buddha's world-renowned beauty and came from thousands of miles away.

In this way, beauties of all kinds fought for my Buddha, hoping to be favored by my Buddha.

My Buddha couldn't bear the harassment and, with amazing concentration, was able to return to the mountain.

After that, he spent three months before he could calm the strange thoughts in his heart again.

Later, he met the elder and told him about his distress.

The elder said, if you don't enter the dusty world, how can you transcend it?

My Buddha had a great realization and immediately went down the mountain again.

This time, he covered his appearance and mixed into the marketplace.

Finally, he cultivated in the dusty world for more than three months.

Just as his Zen heart was about to be determined and he was about to succeed in his path,

he heard that there was a female demon doing evil in a village.

To save the world, he went to this village alone to destroy the demon.

The process is no longer known to the world.

They only know that after my Buddha went, the female demon disappeared.

And my Buddha was left with only this physical body.

Therefore, the world built this Shinto shrine to worship my Buddha.

The monks who cultivate here all call themselves Renguang.

To take the meaning of my Buddha sacrificing himself for benevolence!"

This explanation accounted for the origin of the Renguang Buddha and this Shinto shrine.

After finishing, Renguang bowed solemnly to the Renguang Buddha, who looked like a dried corpse, again and again.

He muttered words, his expression solemn and extremely pious.

General Chilaowen heard these strange stories and felt that this Renguang Buddha had some tricks.

But hearing about demons again, he felt it was a bit strange.

Could it be that this You Dongying really had demons?

But what exactly were these demons?

With so many questions in his heart, General Chilaowen didn't ask.

However, he had a thought in his heart: Little days, you're really something.

He then followed Renguang's instructions and knelt straight down on the prayer mat in front of the Renguang Buddha.

He prayed silently in his heart, hoping that this Renguang Buddha would bestow a blessing and allow him to go to the Central Plains.

"You want to go to the Central Plains?"

Not long after the thought arose, suddenly, deep in his heart, a hoarse, strange voice that couldn't distinguish gender appeared.

General Chilaowen couldn't help but be startled and opened his eyes to look around.

He discovered that in this huge main hall, except for Renguang who was burying his head in chanting and occasionally hitting the wooden fish,

there was no one else.

His heart stirred, and he prepared to release his aura to sense.

He discovered that this was even stranger; before his aura could leave his body, it was pressed inside his body and couldn't move.

731 How could it be him?

"This deity asks you, do you want to go to the Central Plains?"
