Chapter 24: Living with President Gu
I saw Li Feng standing at his workstation with a gloomy face, holding a document in his hand, his gaze as cold as a knife, staring straight at him.
"Ye Feng, do you even know how to come back?"
Li Feng's voice carried a bone-chilling coldness; the surrounding colleagues lowered their heads one after another, pretending to be busy, fearing they would be implicated.
Ye Feng was stunned for a moment; from the moment he heard "late," he had remained frozen in place.
This Li Feng was actually framing him for being late!
As Gu Ran's assistant, Li Feng certainly couldn't have been unaware of where they went this morning!
"This morning, I was with President Gu..."
Before Ye Feng could finish, Li Feng sneered and slammed the document in his hand heavily onto Ye Feng's desk:
"You still dare to quibble?"
"President Gu had an important meeting this morning and needed you to arrive at the company half an hour early to prepare the car. Where were you?"
"Your phone wouldn't go through either. Do you think you're so remarkable that you can even disregard President Gu's affairs?"
Only then did Ye Feng remember that Gu Ran had indeed mentioned last night that there was an important meeting this morning.
But he hadn't received any notification that he needed to arrive at the company early.
Of course, except for Gu Ran telling him last night that they needed to get up a bit earlier.
He frowned and explained, "Assistant Li, I did not receive any notification that I needed to arrive at the company early."
"And my phone has been on the whole time; I didn't receive any calls."
Li Feng didn't listen to his explanation at all, his tone becoming even more aggressive:
"Didn't receive a notification?"
"Do you think I'm wronging you?"
"You even dare to shirk responsibility for President Gu's affairs?"
"Do you think that because President Gu personally recruited you, you can disregard the company's rules?"
Ye Feng clenched his fists, a fire burning in his heart, but he knew now was not the time to lash out.
Even though Li Feng's attitude was poor, Ye Feng still patiently explained, "This morning, President Gu told me there was an emergency and we wouldn't go to the company, but would go directly to Tianhai Technology Group. How can that be considered late?"
Li Feng raised an eyebrow and asked with a frown, "Do you mean that this morning you went to find President Gu and then drove her to Tianhai Group?"
Ye Feng shook his head: "No, we live together, so we just went straight to Tianhai Technology Group when we got up this morning!"
Hearing this from Ye Feng, Li Feng burst out laughing, and then he glared fiercely at Ye Feng and said: "Living with President Gu? What kind of thing are you to dare to say you live with President Gu?"
Ye Feng frowned; this Li Feng must have misunderstood his meaning.
Ye Feng wanted to explain, but was interrupted directly by Li Feng's words: "If President Gu finds out about this, just you wait!"
"Late is late; to shirk responsibility, you actually dare to say such rebellious things!"
Ye Feng clenched his fists, the grievance in his heart almost overflowing.
He took a deep breath, trying hard to calm himself down, his tone as peaceful as possible: "Assistant Li, I really didn't receive any notification."
"President Gu told me to go directly to Tianhai Technology Group this morning; I acted entirely according to her instructions."
Li Feng sneered, not listening to his explanation at all: "Stop quibbling here! How could President Gu not notify me? You are just shirking responsibility!"
Just then, Li Feng's phone suddenly rang.
He looked down and saw it was a call from Gu Ran; his expression changed instantly, and he hurriedly answered: "President Gu, are you looking for me?"
On the other end of the line, Gu Ran's voice was calm and dignified: "Li Feng, come to my office now and bring Ye Feng."
Li Feng was stunned for a moment, then nodded and bowed: "Understood, President Gu, I'll be there right away."
After hanging up, Li Feng's expression became somewhat ugly.
He glanced at Ye Feng, his tone still unkind: "President Gu wants us to go to her office. Let's go; I want to see how you explain this!"
Ye Feng didn't say much, just silently followed behind Li Feng, walking toward Gu Ran's office.
Along the way, Li Feng's pace was fast, as if he couldn't wait to see the scene of Ye Feng being scolded by Gu Ran.
Arriving at the door of Gu Ran's office, Li Feng knocked on the door, and Gu Ran's voice came from inside: "Come in."
Pushing the door open, Gu Ran was sitting behind her desk, holding a document, her expression cold and stern.
She looked up at Li Feng and Ye Feng, her tone calm: "Brother Li, Ye Feng, you're here."
Li Feng immediately stepped forward, his tone carrying a hint of grievance: "President Gu, Ye Feng didn't arrive at the company on time this morning, delaying your important meeting."
"I was just about to report this to you, but I didn't expect you to call first."
Gu Ran frowned and turned her gaze to Ye Feng: "Ye Feng, what's going on?"
Ye Feng was about to open his mouth to explain, but Li Feng spoke first: "President Gu, Ye Feng not only arrived late but also shirked responsibility, saying he didn't receive any notification."
"This kind of attitude really shows no regard for the company's rules!"
Gu Ran's expression gradually turned cold; she put down the document in her hand and looked straight at Li Feng: "Li Feng, are you sure Ye Feng didn't receive a notification?"
Li Feng felt a bit guilty under Gu Ran's gaze, but still bit the bullet and said: "President Gu, I indeed didn't notify him, but that's because his previous performance made me feel he wasn't trustworthy!"
Gu Ran sneered, her tone carrying a hint of anger: "Li Feng, as my assistant, can you not even manage basic communication?"
"This morning, I personally notified Ye Feng to go to Tianhai Technology Group; I didn't ask you to arrange anything at all."
"Not only did you fail to verify the situation, but you also framed Ye Feng here. Is this your work attitude?"
"Don't think that because you are Brother Li's son, you can do whatever you want here. This is the Gu Clan, and it is my, Gu Ran's, territory!"
Li Feng's face turned pale instantly; he hadn't expected things to turn out like this.
He stammered: "President Gu, I... I really didn't know..."
Gu Ran interrupted him, her tone severe: "Li Feng, not only did you fail to do your job well, but you are also making unreasonable trouble here."
"Ye Feng is my driver; I have always seen his work performance with my own eyes. I don't need you to point fingers!"
Li Feng lowered his head, not daring to speak again.
Gu Ran's gaze turned toward Ye Feng, her tone softening slightly: "Ye Feng, you have been wronged by today's events."
"I will deal with Li Feng's behavior severely; you go attend to your work first."
Ye Feng nodded and was about to leave, but Gu Ran suddenly called out to him: "Wait, Li Feng, you apologize to Ye Feng."
Li Feng's expression became even uglier, but he dared not defy Gu Ran's order, so he could only bite the bullet and walk in front of Ye Feng, saying in a low voice: "Ye Feng, I'm sorry, I misunderstood you."
However, Ye Feng keenly noticed that a trace of malice seemed to flash through his eyes.
Ye Feng ignored him, his tone calm: "Assistant Li, it doesn't matter, as long as the misunderstanding is cleared up."
Gu Ran nodded and waved her hand: "Alright, you both sit down; I have some things to tell you."
