Chapter 523

Kanto region.

Viridian City, Viridian Gym.

"I lost..."

A young trainer lowered his head powerlessly, looked at Gym Leader Giovanni, who was wearing a black suit and had a calm face on the other side, and took the initiative to declare his failure.

"Well fought, but the strength is still a bit lacking."

After the battle had ended, Giovanni quickly smiled and comforted the defeated challenger in a peaceful tone.

"You are a good trainer; if you can work harder to improve your Pokémon's strength, maybe you will be qualified to receive the green Badge in my hand."

"Yes, I will continue to work hard!"

The rookie who was praised by Giovanni twice seemed a bit flattered, and while nodding repeatedly, he also thought in his heart—

Sure enough, as other trainers said, Gym Leader Giovanni is a good person, although he looks a bit serious!

If it weren't for his deterrence, maybe our Viridian City would have been eroded by Team Rocket long ago!

After sending away another challenger, the smile on Giovanni's face instantly turned cold.

"Sure enough, in just twenty years, has the level of rookies now dropped to this level of small fry?"

"However, it should be a good thing for Team Rocket."

"Except for the Kanto Elite Four, others don't form a climate at all and don't need much attention."

Soon, Giovanni turned his gaze to the special Pokémon that was still standing on the battle field.

Its body looked extremely close to a human, covered with a thick shell shining with silver-white light, making it impossible to see its true face.

(Who is it, so hard to guess~)

Because it hadn't received the next instruction from "trainer" Giovanni, even though the battle had been over for a while, it still didn't have any other extra movements.

Just from this point of view, its existence seems to be somewhat different from Pokémon with independent thoughts.

Compared to a companion, Giovanni's way of using it is more like...

A tool.

Following Giovanni's gaze, a group of researchers quickly walked over.

"Was the battle data recorded this time?"

"Yes! Compared to a few days ago, Mewtwo's body strength has improved significantly; it is obviously completely correct that battle can accelerate its growth!"

After hearing the report from his subordinates, Giovanni nodded with satisfaction.

Sure enough, his theory is correct.

Pokémon are magical creatures born for battle, and only battle can allow them to cash in on their talent.

Just like that Beedrill of mine that has been through many battles...

Kanto trainers all know that although Viridian Gym Leader Giovanni's title is "Giovanni of the Earth," and his ability to cultivate Ground-type Pokémon is no less than that of the Elite Four or even the Champion, his starter Pokémon and most trusted general will always be a Beedrill.

As Giovanni's starter Pokémon, even when it was a Weedle, this little guy showed its combative side.

But as everyone knows, Bug-type Pokémon are definitely the worst in average strength among all Pokémon classifications.

Even if it has evolved to its final form, Beedrill's combat power generally won't be higher than Charmander, one of the starters that still has evolutionary potential.

But this doesn't apply to Giovanni's Beedrill.

Under Giovanni's careful cultivation and the resource piling of the entire Team Rocket, his Beedrill eventually grew into a ghost-like assassin with extremely terrifying combat power; even the newborn Mewtwo wasn't a match for it and was easily solved.

And in Giovanni's view, the fact that his Beedrill can grow to its current level, other factors are not important.

Most importantly, it has been in a state of struggle since it followed him, and Team Rocket's pioneering work definitely has a share of its credit.

Precisely because it has experienced enough battles, it can continuously improve its strength and eventually grow to today's level.

Therefore, for Giovanni, the method to make Mewtwo grow rapidly is also very simple—

Battle, a lot of battles.

And with his current status as Viridian Gym Leader, Giovanni can easily do this.

The trainers who can come to challenge him are basically rookies who have successively obtained seven Badges in recent years and whose strength is still passable, which is just right to be used as a whetstone for the newborn Mewtwo.

And Mewtwo's growth didn't disappoint Giovanni's expectations.

Perhaps it won't be long before it becomes the most powerful trump card in his hand.

Giovanni looked at Mewtwo, who was still indifferent, and thought so.

And just at this time, a researcher on the side, after staring at Mewtwo for a long time, finally raised his arm timidly and spoke again:

"Boss Giovanni, besides Mewtwo's body growth, there is actually another thing that might need extra attention..."

"Speak."
