Chapter 674

With Qingyu's "divine disappearance," time quickly came to March 20th.

Friday, cloudy.

In two more days, it will be the opening day of the Psychic Master Tournament.

And as the host city for this event, Goldenrod City, located in the Johto region, has already entered a carnival state in advance.

For the Pokémon world, the popularity of large-scale events is no less than an international festival, and even those who are not trainers can enjoy the lively atmosphere brought by the event.

And Goldenrod City is already the most developed comprehensive city in the Johto region. It is said that not only is its economic strength comparable to Saffron City in the Kanto region to the east, but it also possesses various technological facilities, and has already gathered a large group of young people with active thinking.

It is also because of this that when Qingyu got off the plane, the first thing he saw was the overcrowded battle venue outside the airport, as well as the trainers with excitement on their faces.

However, their battle style is clearly much wilder compared to the official rules.

For example... a trainer punched the opponent's Croconaw into a concussion, causing it to fall to the ground and lose its ability to fight.

Or a gentle-looking young lady who, after entering a battle state, immediately crossed her arms and used her physical body to resist the incoming flames, and there wasn't even a burn mark on her arms.

Seeing this, Qingyu couldn't help but let out a sigh:

"It is worthy of being the simple-folk Indigo League. Do even ordinary trainers use wild fighting as the main rule..."

Qingyu, carrying his bag, quickly shifted his gaze away. After walking into the airport lobby, he began to look around, and soon noticed an "old acquaintance."

The red-haired man in sunglasses, wearing a black cloak and looking very mysterious, also discovered him at the same time, so he smiled and waved.

"Long time no see, Teacher Yu."

"Welcome to Johto."

"You are too polite."

Qingyu also replied with a smile.

"I didn't expect Mr. Lance to appear here."

"Kanto and Johto belong to the same league, and plus there is nothing going on recently, so the matter of maintaining public order during this event is left to me."

Lance laughed.

Regarding this, Qingyu nodded, and understood in his heart.

Originally, he actually planned to meet Cynthia at the airport, but unfortunately, today is Friday, and as the Sinnoh Champion, she also has her own things to deal with.

Therefore, she will arrive a day later than himself.

As for Lance's appearance, although Qingyu didn't expect it, he wasn't too surprised.

Originally, Lance is a local of Johto, the famous Dragon Tamer from Blackthorn City. Staying in Kanto can basically only be said to be a work requirement, so it is very normal for him to appear to pick him up.

After all, Kanto and Johto are not separated!

Unlike other regions, although Kanto and Johto belong to two different regions in terms of regional division, they actually have inextricable links.

The overly close geographical location makes communication between each other very convenient, and one only needs to cross Viridian Forest to easily travel back and forth between the two places.

Therefore, when the initial league system was established, the two regions were even directly merged into the same league, and the address was chosen at the Indigo Plateau, which is located between Kanto and Johto and has extraordinary significance to both places.

So much so that the Elite Four and Champion of Kanto and Johto are shared.

That is today's Indigo League.

In the "Pokémon Gold/Silver" series, because the timeline is a few years after the main storyline of the first generation, the original Kanto Elite Four also underwent huge changes.

Red, who became the Champion, was unwilling to stay in the Indigo League, so he dived into Mt. Silver to train wholeheartedly.

Agatha and Lorelei... successively retired. Without obstacles, Lance finally fulfilled his wish to become the Regional Champion, and the vacant Elite Four seats were succeeded by Fuchsia Gym Leader Koga and two newcomers, Will and Karen, respectively.

However, based on the timeline Qingyu is currently in, it is estimated that he won't see the scene of the Elite Four handing over the baton in the next few years.

So currently Lance is still in the form of an Elite Four member.

After exchanging a few pleasantries with Lance, Qingyu's gaze suddenly focused on his attire.

"Speaking of which, why did Mr. Lance suddenly wear sunglasses?"

And even the cloak has been changed, no longer that red and black cloak that has remained unchanged for ten thousand years!

Qingyu, who noticed all kinds of details, was curious, so he took the initiative to ask.

Lance was stunned for a moment, then reacted, and immediately showed a helpless smile.

"I just don't want to cause trouble for other staff members, so I disguised myself a little."

"Although it seems a bit boastful to say so, but... my popularity in the Johto region is still very high. If I appear here for too long, it is easy to cause congestion."

"So that's how it is."

Qingyu nodded, expressing understanding.

If you want to find a benchmark character, Lance's popularity in the Johto region is no less than Diantha's in Kalos, especially his mature and cold face. It might not be an exaggeration to call him a "young wife killer"...

Playing is playing, making trouble is making trouble, the nickname "Dragonite-man" is just called blindly by some netizens!

So this explanation is actually very reasonable.

However, regarding Lance's attire, which is somewhat like covering one's ears to steal a bell, Qingyu still couldn't help but silently complain in his heart:

Sure enough, the disguise in the Pokémon world is mainly idealistic!

As long as I believe that I can deceive others, even if I only wear sunglasses, others won't recognize me...

"Let's go first, Teacher Yu."

Seeing Qingyu understand, Lance quickly spoke again, pointing out the reason why he came to pick him up:

"I'll take you to the hotel prepared for the contestants of this Master Tournament first. Many contestants have already arrived in advance. Perhaps Teacher Yu can get to know them first."
