Chapter 104: A Phone Problem
Remembering everything that happened last night, Murong Wan's cheeks flushed red.
She struggled to rise, but Jiangnan seized her in a tight embrace.
"Don't move."
Jiangnan's voice was low, with a hint of hoarseness.
Murong Wan's body tensed, daring not to move. She lowered her head, unwilling to meet Jiangnan's eyes.
"Last night..."
"Last night, it was my fault."
Jiangnan cut her off, his tone gentle.
"No, I did it willingly."
Murong Wan lifted her head, her gaze steady.
"I don't need you to take responsibility; I also know you're not an ordinary person, and you must be surrounded by countless beauties."
"I only hope to become your woman, that's all."
Jiangnan felt a jolt in his heart, never having expected Murong Wan to say that.
He originally thought she would wail and blame him.
But he didn't anticipate that she would actually utter such words.
"Wan'er, you..."
At that moment, a rapid phone ring sounded, shattering the room's romantic atmosphere.
Murong Wan startled, fumbling for her phone; when she saw the caller ID, her complexion changed.
She quickly pressed the answer button, her voice trembling slightly.
"Hello?"
On the other end, a secretary's anxious voice came through.
"Murong, something's wrong!"
"Tianyu Construction Group suddenly tore up the contract; they're quitting!"
Although after last night's events Murong Wan had already anticipated it, she didn't expect Tianyu Construction Group to tear up the contract so abruptly!
Murong Wan took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.
"Understood. Keep the company steady; I'll be back right away."
She hung up, her gaze regaining its firmness.
She couldn't sit and wait for death; she had to find a way to solve the problem.
Murong Wan sprang up, intending to get out of bed.
Suddenly, a tearing pain surged from deep within her body.
She let out a muffled groan, her legs went weak, and her body lost balance, collapsing to the floor.
"Careful!"
Jiangnan's eyes quick, his hands fast, and he steadied Murong Wan.
He gently lifted her back onto the bed, his gaze concerned.
"How are you?"
Murong Wan's complexion was pale, fine beads of sweat beading on her forehead.
She bit her lip tightly and shook her head.
"I'm fine."
"Don't move; just rest properly."
Jiangnan's voice was gentle, yet carried unquestionable authority.
"No, I must return to the company."
Murong Wan struggled to get up, her gaze frantic,
"Tianyu Construction Group tore up the contract; the Xingchen Plaza Project cannot be halted."
"In your current state, how can you go to the company?"
Jiangnan's brows furrowed slightly, his tone serious.
"But..."
Murong Wan was about to say something else, but Jiangnan cut her off.
"There is no 'but'."
Jiangnan's tone was firm, his gaze deep,
"Rest assured, I'll handle this matter for you."
Murong Wan was stunned, her eyes looking at Jiangnan with confusion.
"You?"
"How will you help me?"
She didn't understand how Jiangnan could help her.
After all, this is a contract dispute between two companies.
"Do you trust me?"
Jiangnan gave no reply, merely gazing quietly at Murong Wan's eyes.
Murong Wan looked into Jiangnan's deep eyes; those eyes seemed to possess a magic that made her feel at ease.
She immediately nodded.
"I trust you."
"That's enough."
Jiangnan's mouth corner lifted slightly, revealing a faint smile.
"Rest easy; at most half an hour, Tianyu Construction Group will continue to fulfill the contract."
His voice was calm, yet carried a great confidence.
Murong Wan looked at Jiangnan, her heart full of doubt.
She didn't understand where Jiangnan's confidence came from.
But she chose to trust him, to trust this man who could create miracles.
She gently closed her eyes, handing everything over to Jiangnan.
Jiangnan stood up and walked to the window.
He took out his phone and dialed Chief Yun. His tone was flat, yet carried immense authority.
"Tianyu Construction Group, why hasn't it been acquired yet?"
On the other end, Chief Yun's voice was as cold as always, but with a barely perceptible urgency.
"Boss, the acquisition process for Tianyu Construction Group is rather complicated, involving many interests, and still needs some time."
Jiangnan's brows furrowed slightly, a flash of cold light passing through his deep eyes.
"I give you only ten minutes."
"Within ten minutes, I want to see results."
Without any extra words, he hung up the phone directly.
Three minutes later, the phone's ringtone broke the silence.
Jiangnan picked up the phone, glanced at the caller ID, and his mouth corner lifted slightly.
He answered, and Chief Yun's voice came through.
"Boss, it's already done."
The voice remained cold, yet carried a hint of relieved ease.
"The Chairman of Tianyu Construction Group has agreed to continue fulfilling the contract and guarantees no further issues will arise."
Jiangnan hummed a sound and hung up the phone.
He turned and looked at Murong Wan, saying in a flat tone:
"The problem is solved."
Murong Wan was stunned, her eyes full of disbelief.
So fast?
She had originally thought this matter would be very tricky, perhaps requiring a long time to resolve.
She didn't expect that a single call from Jiangnan would easily settle everything.
Her heart was filled with shock, and a strong sense of gratitude rose within her.
"Thank you, Jiangnan."
She said softly, her voice a little hoarse.
Jiangnan smiled faintly, reaching out to gently stroke her hair.
"Fool, why be so polite to me."
His voice was gentle, with a hint of indulgence.
Murong Wan looked at him, a strange feeling bubbling in her heart.
This man always gave her surprises, making her feel immensely safe and warm.
She couldn't help reaching out, gently hugging Jiangnan's waist.
"Jiangnan, you're so kind."
She buried her head in his embrace, whispering softly.
……
Cheng Group, General Manager's Office.
In the spacious, bright room, an atmosphere of tension so suffocating filled the air.
In front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, sunlight spilled onto the carpet, yet could not disperse the gloom in the air.
Cheng Tianci stood behind the desk, his complexion iron‑blue.
He clenched his fists tightly, his knuckles turning white from the strain.
His chest rose and fell violently, as if suppressing a volcano about to erupt.
"Bang!"
He slammed the solid wood desk hard, producing a dull thud that made hearts skip a beat.
"Why?"
The voice was low and hoarse, like a trapped beast's roar.
"Who can tell me why this is happening?"
His gaze was like a torch, staring intently at the trembling senior executives before him.
The air seemed to solidify, oppression making it hard to breathe.
"How could Tianyu Construction Group be acquired by Di Jiang Group?"
He spoke each word haltingly, his voice full of anger and incomprehension.
"Didn't we already reach an agreement with Tianyu Construction Group?"
"Weren't you previously swearing that everything was under control?"
"Now then?"
"Is this the result you gave me?"
His voice suddenly rose, booming through the office like a startling thunderclap.
A senior executive spoke shakily,
"Chief Cheng, we… we don't know what's going on either."
"Earlier everything was indeed proceeding smoothly; the Chairman of Tianyu Construction Group had already signed."
"But this morning, they suddenly backed out, saying they wanted to terminate the partnership."
"We… we have no way either."
His voice grew softer and softer, until it was almost inaudible.
"Useless!"
Cheng Tianci roared, his eyes blazing with raging fire.
"You bunch of useless!"
"If you can't even handle this little matter, what good are you to me?"
He grabbed the documents on the desk and slammed them onto the floor.
The papers scattered across the floor, like his shattered mood at that moment.
"Chief Cheng, calm down."
Another senior executive cautioned carefully.
"Now is not the time to be angry; we must quickly think of a way to solve the problem."
"Solve?"
Cheng Tianci sneered.
"How do we solve it?"
"Tianyu Construction Group has already been acquired by Di Jiang Group; what else can we do?"
"Do we have to beg Di Jiang Group to sell Tianyu Construction Group back to us?"
