Chapter 165: Ghost Market

~8 min read 1,418 words

Jiangnan's eyebrows twitched slightly,

It seems Li Si Si hasn't recovered her memory yet, but that's fine; those terrible memories are better forgotten.

It's just a pity that she forgot her own older brother...

"Si Si, I'm not asking you to recall, but to use your own ability."

"Ability?" Li Si Si blinked her big eyes, looking at Jiangnan with a clueless expression, "Brother, what are you talking about? What ability do I have?"

She tilted her head, looking innocent and naive, as if she truly didn't know what she was saying.

Jiangnan looked at her that way and couldn't help feeling a bit helpless.

He knew that Li Si Si truly didn't remember; she was now like a blank sheet, knowing nothing about her past.

"Don't rush, take it slowly," Jiangnan said softly, his tone carrying a hint of reassurance.

He reached out, gently grasping Li Si Si's wrist, intending to guide her with his own true qi to help her recall her ability.

However, just as his hand was about to touch Li Si Si's wrist, his gaze unintentionally caught a swath of snow‑white on her chest.

Li Si Si was wearing a low‑cut nightgown today, its neckline opened very low, revealing a large expanse of fair skin and a faintly visible cleavage.

Because she had been snuggling against Jiangnan just now, he hadn't noticed this.

But now, wanting to grasp her wrist, he had to lower his head, and that lowering exposed the alluring spring scene completely before his eyes.

Jiangnan's breath briefly stalled; his eyes lingered on the snow‑white for a few seconds, then quickly shifted away, a trace of awkwardness flashing across his face.

He cleared his throat lightly to cover his lapse, then swiftly grasped Li Si Si's wrist, slowly channeling his true qi into her body.

"Si Si, close your eyes and feel," Jiangnan said, his voice a bit low.

Li Si Si obediently closed her eyes; her long lashes trembled slightly, like two tiny fans, utterly cute.

Jiangnan's true qi roamed within Li Si Si, guiding her internal energy and helping her sense her ability.

Li Si Si's eyebrows furrowed slightly, as if she were straining to feel something.

After a while, she suddenly opened her eyes, a flash of delighted light in her gaze.

"Brother, I think... I felt something!" she said excitedly.

"What is it?" Jiangnan asked, his tone tinged with anticipation.

"I... I don't know how to put it..." Li Si Si's face showed a hint of bewilderment, "It's... a very strange feeling..."

She raised her hand, pointing toward a direction, murmuring, "Brother, I feel the person you're looking for is over there."

Jiangnan followed the direction of her finger; it was a direction outside the villa, though he wasn't sure exactly where.

"Can you be sure?" Jiangnan asked.

"Mm!" Li Si Si nodded vigorously, "I'm sure!"

"Alright, I understand," Jiangnan nodded, a surge of hope rising in his heart.

"Brother, are you going to find her?" Li Si Si asked, a trace of reluctance in her eyes.

"Mm, I must find her," Jiangnan said, "She means a lot to me."

"Then... when will you come back?" Li Si Si clutched Jiangnan's hand, asking pitifully.

"As soon as possible," Jiangnan said, his tone carrying a hint of apology.

"Then... okay," Li Si Si lowered her head, her mood a bit downcast.

Jiangnan looked at her that way, feeling a bit reluctant.

He knew Li Si Si relied on him heavily; during his absence she would surely be lonely.

"Si Si, when I'm not here, you must behave and listen, understand?" Jiangnan said.

"Mm, I understand," Li Si Si nodded, "Brother, you must come back early."

"Alright." Jiangnan smiled, "I promise you."

"Hook." Li Si Si extended her pinky and said.

Jiangnan also extended his pinky, hooking it with hers.

"Hook up, hang for a hundred years without change," Li Si Si said, a radiant smile on her face.

"Alright, a hundred years without change," Jiangnan said.

"Brother, you're the best!" Li Si Si happily hugged Jiangnan and planted a kiss on his cheek.

Jiangnan froze for a moment, then smiled, gently patting her back.

Nearby, Yun Yubing watched their affectionate scene, a mixture of feelings stirring within her.

She didn't know how to describe her mood—envy, jealousy, loss... a tangle of emotions that left her inexplicably restless.

"Mr. Jiang, when do we set off?" Yun Yubing asked, breaking the warm atmosphere.

"We leave right now," Jiangnan said, standing up.

"Brother, are you leaving?" Li Si Si clutched Jiangnan's hand, asking reluctantly.

"Mm, I'm leaving," Jiangnan said, "Stay at home and wait for me, okay?"

"Mm." Li Si Si nodded, her eyes a bit watery.

"Alright, don't cry," Jiangnan ruffled her hair, "I'll be back soon."

"Mm." Li Si Si nodded firmly, trying hard to hold back tears.

Jiangnan gave her one last glance, then turned and left the villa together with Yun Yubing.

The two got into the car; the Porsche 718 roared to life and drove toward the direction Li Si Si had indicated.

Inside the car, Yun Yubing watched the scenery rushing backward through the window, her mind full of doubt.

"Mr. Jiang, Miss Li... is she really the River God?" Yun Yubing finally couldn't help asking.

"Mm." Jiangnan nodded, saying nothing more.

"But... she looks..." Yun Yubing began, then stopped.

"She lost her memory," Jiangnan said, "so that's why she turned out like this now."

"Lost her memory?" Yun Yubing's face showed a hint of surprise, "What is this about?"

"It's a long story," Jiangnan said, "I'll tell you when there's a chance later."

"Then... can she regain her memory?" Yun Yubing asked.

"I don't know," Jiangnan shook his head, "maybe she can, maybe she can't."

"So... is she really your sister?" Yun Yubing asked, her tone carrying a hint of probing.

"No," Jiangnan said, "she's just... a very important person."

"Oh," Yun Yubing replied, and didn't ask further.

She knew that asking again about what Jiangnan didn't want to say was useless.

The car kept moving, the night grew deeper, and the surrounding scenery grew increasingly desolate.

Yun Yubing's heart was full of unease; she didn't know where they were heading, nor what would happen next.

But she knew she had to trust Jiangnan, because he was her only support.

"Mr. Jiang, where are we going?" Yun Yubing asked.

"A... place you might have heard of," Jiangnan said, his tone tinged with mystery.

"What place?" Yun Yubing asked.

"Ghost Market," Jiangnan said slowly, uttering the two words.

"Ghost Market?!" Yun Yubing's pupils snapped shut, her face showing shocked expression.

Of course she had heard of the Ghost Market; it was a legendary mysterious and eerie place, said to gather all sorts of odd geniuses and some things that never see the light.

But the Ghost Market had always been just a legend; no one knew where it actually was, nor even whether it truly existed.

Yun Yubing hadn't expected Jiangnan to actually take her to the Ghost Market.

"Mr. Jiang, what are we going to do at the Ghost Market?" Yun Yubing asked, her voice trembling.

"You'll find out when the time comes," Jiangnan said, offering no explanation.

Yun Yubing wanted to ask again, but seeing Jiangnan's unwillingness to speak further, she swallowed her words.

The car kept driving, cutting through the darkness as if heading toward an unknown world.

Yun Yubing's heart was full of apprehension; she didn't know what awaited them.

But she knew that whatever danger lay ahead, she would face it together with Jiangnan.

Because he was the only person she could trust.

The car drove for a long time, finally stopping in a remote spot.

The surroundings were pitch black, with only the car lights illuminating a small patch ahead.

"We've arrived," Jiangnan said, stepping out of the car first.

Yun Yubing also got out, looking around and finding that this was a desolate, uninhabited place, surrounded by dense forest that looked gloomy.

"Is this... the Ghost Market?" Yun Yubing asked, her voice trembling.

"No, this is just the entrance," Jiangnan said, "the real Ghost Market is still inside."

"Entrance?" Yun Yubing's face showed a hint of surprise, "The Ghost Market has an entrance?"

"Of course," Jiangnan said, "the Ghost Market isn't a place everyone can enter."

"Then... how do we get in?" Yun Yubing asked.

"Follow me," Jiangnan said, heading deeper into the forest.

Yun Yubing hurried to keep up, her heart full of curiosity and tension.
