Chapter 203: Yu Chengze's Arrangement

~6 min read 1,074 words

"You... you want to kill me?"

Yu Chengye's complexion turned deathly pale in an instant; he staggered back a few steps, his eyes filled with terror.

Yu Chengze said nothing, but pulled a small porcelain bottle from his pocket, poured out a single black pill, and tossed it to Yu Chengye.

"What is this?"

Yu Chengye stared at the pill in his hand, his voice trembling as he asked.

"It's something that can keep you alive, at least for a while."

Yu Chengze said lightly, "

Eat it, and I can guarantee you won't die, at least for now."

Yu Chengye hesitated; he didn't know whether to trust Yu Chengze's words. But now he had no other choice, so he could only gamble.

"Why are you doing this?"

Yu Chengye looked at Yu Chengze, his eyes full of doubt,

"Haven't you already taken control of the Yu family? Then why keep me alive?"

"Because I still need you."

A strange smile curled at the corner of Yu Chengze's mouth,

"The Corpse Toxin in you is still useful to me."

"Corpse Toxin is still useful to you?"

A flash of surprise crossed Yu Chengye's eyes,

"What exactly are you trying to do?"

"You don't need to worry about that."

Yu Chengze's voice grew cold,

"All you need to remember is that your life is now in my hands; as long as you obey, I can keep you alive."

Yu Chengye fell silent; he knew Yu Chengze was telling the truth. He had no other options now, so he could only submit to Yu Chengze's manipulation.

He stared at the pill, took a deep breath, then tilted his head back and swallowed it.

The pill dissolved instantly, a wave of icy cold spreading through his body, making him shiver.

"How does it feel?"

Yu Chengze looked at Yu Chengye and asked lightly.

"Nothing much..."

Before Yu Chengye could finish speaking, a sharp pain surged through his shoulder; he let out a howl, his complexion turning deathly pale.

"What is happening?"

Yu Chengye clutched his shoulder, asking in pain.

"This is a normal reaction."

Yu Chengze said lightly,

"This pill can temporarily suppress the Corpse Toxin inside you, but it cannot completely lift your curse."

"Then... what should I do?"

Yu Chengye's voice was filled with fear.

"All you need to remember is that from now on you must stay at home obediently; you may not go anywhere."

Yu Chengze's voice was threatening,

"Otherwise, you'll die a gruesome death."

"I... I understand..."

Yu Chengye's voice trembled; he knew Yu Chengze wasn't joking.

"Very well."

Yu Chengze nodded approvingly,

"Remember, your life is now in my hands; as long as you obey, I can keep you alive."

Having said that, Yu Chengze turned and left the villa, leaving Yu Chengye slumped alone on the sofa, his eyes full of despair.

……

After leaving the villa, Yu Chengze didn't return home; he went straight to an abandoned factory in the Jiangcheng Suburbs.

This place is the site of the Jiangcheng Black Market.

The Black Market is a place that cannot see the light; it teems with all kinds of illegal trades and is a breeding ground for sin.

Yu Chengze arrived at the factory entrance, and two Black-clothed Men immediately blocked his path.

"Who are you?"

One of the Black-clothed Men asked coldly.

Yu Chengze said nothing, but pulled a black token from his pocket and tossed it to the Black-clothed Men.

The Black-clothed Men took the token, examined it carefully, then their expressions changed, and they said respectfully:

"So it's Mr. Yu, please come in."

Yu Chengze nodded and then walked into the factory.

Inside the factory was a massive underground space, brightly lit, bustling with voices, rows of stalls packed with all sorts of strange and exotic items.

Yu Chengze made his way through the crowd to a stall in a corner.

Behind the stall sat an old man in a black robe, his face covered by a ghostly mask, obscuring his true features.

This old man is the manager of the Jiangcheng Black Market, known as Guiye.

"Guiye."

Yu Chengze said respectfully.

"Hmm."

Guiye nodded, his voice hoarse as he asked,

"How's the matter going?"

"Everything's done as you ordered."

Yu Chengze said,

"Old Master, Second Uncle, and my father are all dead."

"Oh?"

A flash of sharp light flickered in Guiye's eyes,

"Very good. You did well."

"Guiye, I have something I don't understand."

Yu Chengze hesitated, then couldn't help asking,

"Why did you make me your messenger?"

Guiye snorted coldly,

"What messenger? Just remember you're a pawn in my hand; do whatever I command, don't ask what's not yours to ask."

"I… I…"

Yu Chengze's voice trembled; he knew his words had angered Guiye.

"There's another matter."

Guiye's voice sounded again,

"Why didn't you kill your cousin?"

"I…"

Yu Chengze's complexion changed; he didn't know how to answer.

"Do you think he still has any use?"

Guiye's voice was full of mockery,

"Or perhaps you still care about a blood tie between you?"

"I…"

Cold sweat beaded on Yu Chengze's forehead; he felt he could barely breathe.

"You disappoint me greatly."

Guiye's voice suddenly grew harsh,

"Do you know how much trouble this will cause me?"

"Guiye, I'm wrong, I'm truly wrong…"

Yu Chengze's voice was filled with fear,

"Please, give me another chance, I will finish the task…"

"A chance?" Guiye sneered,

"Do you think you still have one?"

After speaking, Guiye suddenly struck, a palm slamming Yu Chengze's chest.

Yu Chengze let out a wail, flew backward, hit the wall, then fell heavily to the ground.

"Guiye, what are you—"

Yu Chengze clutched his chest, asking in pain.

"This is your punishment."

Guiye said coldly,

"Remember, you're just a pawn; if you dare act on your own again, I'll make your life worse than death."

"Yes… yes…"

Yu Chengze's voice trembled; he knew Guiye wasn't joking.

"But, considering your cousin still has some use, I'll spare his life for now."

Guiye's voice softened a bit,

"However, you must keep a close watch on him; if he dares any move, kill him immediately."

"Yes, Guiye, I will keep a close watch on him."

Yu Chengze hurriedly replied.

Guiye nodded,

"Go back first; prepare for tomorrow's matters."

"Yes, Guiye."

Yu Chengze answered, then struggled to stand and left the Black Market.

Guiye watched Yu Chengze's departing back, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
