Chapter 201: I Have Already Told An'an That Her Father Passed Away Long Ago
Three years later.
Yuncheng Airport.
Cheng Han was in a crisp suit, holding a stack of documents in his hand.
The assistant glanced at the time, "It's time."
Cheng Han handed the documents to the assistant, took a long stride, and headed for the VIP passage.
There, a slender female figure slowly appeared.
The woman had ear-length short hair and wore a white dress, which made her look exceptionally gentle; she had a smile on her lips and an elegant posture.
Cheng Han opened his arms.
"Wanwan, welcome home."
Cheng Wan gave her brother a heavy hug, the smile on her lips deepening, "Brother."
"Let's go, Grandma has been looking forward to your return."
"Okay."
The car started and left the airport.
Meanwhile, in a car not far away, Assistant Wu said in a low voice, "President Chu, Miss Cheng has already left."
Chu Li closed his eyes and rubbed his brow.
"Let's go."
Three years.
She had been gone for three years.
Now she had finally returned.
But he could only watch from afar, just like every time in these three years.
Old Madam Cheng's health had not been very good recently, but Cheng Wan's return had lifted her spirits, and she had been gazing toward the doorway since early morning.
Cheng Huayu and his wife had tried to persuade her to rest several times, but the old madam wouldn't listen, so they could only keep her company.
Six-year-old Qin Ping'an was in his final year of kindergarten and had specifically asked for a day off today.
Like the old madam, he was gazing longingly at the doorway.
The Third Madam looked at the old woman and the young boy and could only smile helplessly.
More than an hour later, the car entered the courtyard.
Old Madam Cheng and Qin Ping'an stood up immediately.
Cheng Wan got out of the car and was immediately embraced by the old madam.
"Wanwan."
Her eyes grew moist as she held her like a precious treasure.
"Grandma." Cheng Wan's eyes welled up with tears.
Although she had been in frequent contact with her family during these three years, the feeling of being back in the country and truly hugging her family was completely different.
"Mommy." Qin Ping'an called out longingly.
He wanted to hug his mommy, but he couldn't compete with his great-grandmother.
He was very conflicted.
Old Madam Cheng hurriedly let go of Cheng Wan and told her to look down at her son.
Cheng Wan crouched in front of Qin Ping'an and said softly, "Ping'an has grown taller."
She hugged her son tightly, "Ping'an, Mommy missed you very much."
Qin Ping'an hugged Cheng Wan's neck tightly, his voice choked with sobs, "Mommy."
After crying for a while, Cheng Han picked up Qin Ping'an, "Mommy is back, Ping'an will have plenty of time to be with Mommy."
Only then did Qin Ping'an stop crying.
Back then, Cheng Wan had intended to take Qin Ping'an with her, but the Third Madam had persuaded her that Ping'an's health was not very good and he would have difficulty adapting to the environment abroad.
Moreover, Cheng Wan was pregnant and had to study, so she might not be able to take good care of Qin Ping'an; it was better for him to stay in the country. The Third Madam promised to take good care of Ping'an, and only then did Cheng Wan leave him behind.
There was another woman in the living room.
It was Qin Yun Shu.
She was holding a little boy of over two years old by the hand, and seeing Cheng Wan, a smile appeared on her lips, "Welcome back."
It was as if there had never been any unpleasantness between them all these years.
She could pretend.
But Cheng Wan could not.
She ignored Qin Yun Shu and just looked down to greet the little boy, "Yuanyuan, hello."
Yuanyuan was the child of Cheng Han and Qin Yun Shu.
After Cheng Han had completely taken control of the company back then, he had been prepared to divorce, but for some reason, he had a one-night stand with Qin Yun Shu, and Qin Yun Shu disappeared from then on, only reappearing three months later.
Cheng Han had a paternity test done, which confirmed that the child in Qin Yun Shu's womb was his own flesh and blood.
Thus, the marriage was never dissolved after all.
However, the relationship between the two became increasingly distant.
And Qin Yun Shu seemed to have come to terms with it; she no longer pestered Cheng Han as she had before and was content being Mrs. Cheng.
Yuanyuan hid behind Qin Yun Shu.
"Sorry about that, the child is timid," Qin Yun Shu explained and handed Yuanyuan over to a servant.
Cheng Wan stood up straight and finally looked Qin Yun Shu in the eye, "Qin Yun Shu, long time no see."
The plain and simple greeting made Qin Yun Shu's expression change several times.
She always remembered that Cheng Wan said she would take everything from her.
However, she quickly returned to normal.
"Long time no see."
The Third Madam instructed the kitchen to serve the meal.
The few of them had just sat down when Old Master Chu arrived.
He brought many gifts, most of which were for the child, but after looking around and not seeing the one he had been longing for, he was immediately unhappy.
"Where is An'an?"
Cheng Wan pursed her lips, "An'an will be back the day after tomorrow."
Old Master Chu was very disappointed; he had only visited when the child was born, and after that, Chu Li would not let him go, saying it would disturb Cheng Wan.
He had already endured it for a long time.
Old Master Chu could not say anything more; he pushed a box toward Cheng Wan, "Whether or not you acknowledge me as your grandfather, the child you gave birth to flows with the blood of my Chu family after all; this gift is what you deserve."
Cheng Wan was unwilling to take it, as she had completely severed ties with the Chu family.
Even if the child flowed with the Chu family's blood, so what? That was Cheng Wan's child alone.
Old Madam Cheng signaled for the Third Madam to take the box, and upon opening it, they saw a necklace worth ten million inside.
It was exceptionally brilliant.
Old Madam Cheng nodded, "Many thanks."
She accepted it on Cheng Wan's behalf.
Old Master Chu was a bit happier then, and he left after sponging a dinner.
After the meal, Old Madam Cheng called Cheng Wan to the side and said, "Are you curious why I let you accept the Chu family's gift?"
Cheng Wan lowered her eyes; she did want to ask, as she did not want to have any more connections with the Chu family at all.
"An'an will be starting kindergarten soon. When the time comes for parent-child sports meets or other activities at the kindergarten that require a father, what do you plan to do?"
Cheng Wan frowned; she had not thought about this problem, as she had always felt she could raise An'an well on her own.
"I can let Cheng Han go," Cheng Wan pondered.
Cheng Han was An'an's uncle and could perfectly well handle it.
"Then when other children ask about An'an's father, how is An'an supposed to answer?" Old Madam Cheng asked again.
Cheng Wan was stunned.
"I think..."
"It is not what you think, but what An'an thinks," Old Madam Cheng sighed, "I know you have already drawn a line with Chu Li, but An'an cannot."
"An'an needs a father. You only have two choices: one is to get married and find a new father for An'an, and the second is to acknowledge the father-daughter relationship between An'an and Chu Li and let Chu Li participate in An'an's growth."
Cheng Wan was unwilling to accept either of these two choices.
She believed she could take good care of An'an.
It was just that...
Cheng Wan remembered that An'an had asked about her father before.
Only, she had told An'an that her father had already passed away.
She had not told her grandmother about this.
Seeing the look on her granddaughter's face, Old Madam Cheng thought she was still feeling uncomfortable, so she quickly said, "Actually, you don't need to have any psychological burden; just interact with Chu Li normally."
"It's just that An'an, she might want a father."
Whether it is a father or a mother, in a child's eyes, they are both irreplaceable existences.
Rather than depriving her from a young age, it is better to acknowledge it openly from the start.
Unable to withstand the pressure from the old madam, Cheng Wan could only tell the truth.
"I have already told An'an that her father passed away a long time ago."
