Chapter 206: Chu Li Is Not In A Rush
The news of Cheng An'an's return quickly reached the ears of Old Master Chu.
He looked at his grandson at the dining table, restrained himself several times, and finally said, "What exactly are you thinking?"
At a time like this, shouldn't Chu Li go to see Cheng An'an immediately?
How could he still have the heart to sit here and eat?
He truly found it increasingly difficult to fathom this grandson's thoughts.
Chu Li finished his breakfast calmly and steadily, then said, "I know, there is no rush."
Old Master Chu was very anxious, but there was absolutely nothing he could do; after all, the things sent previously had all been returned by Cheng Wan.
Chu Yue smiled and tried to persuade the old master, "Dad, A Li has his own ideas, so don't you worry. Besides, Cheng Wan even has a child now; in the end, she will still be with A Li. If we rush over now, it would look as if we were begging for Cheng Wan to come back."
Chu Li glanced at his aunt with no expression and said nothing.
Chu Yue thought she had guessed her nephew's intentions correctly.
Thinking about it, it made sense; a man as outstanding as Chu Li only needed to coax a woman a few times. Since Cheng Wan was putting on airs, he had his own pride.
Most likely, he wanted to leave that woman, Cheng Wan, out in the cold, or perhaps he intended to take back custody of the child directly in the future.
Actually, this was for the best; Chu Yue wanted to scout a better wife for Chu Li.
As for Cheng Wan, all she wanted was that Perfume Notes.
"What about A Cheng? Didn't you say he had already returned to the country?" Old Master Chu asked; he was obsessed with wanting Chu Cheng to teach Chu Li how to pursue someone.
"He was originally going to return, but some matters needed to be handled, which delayed him a bit. By now, he should have already gone straight to the company."
Chu Yue covered her mouth, looking somewhat smug, "My son, he only has eyes for work."
Old Master Chu liked ambitious younger generations and nodded with satisfaction.
Chu Li finished his breakfast and went out; when he entered his office, Chu Cheng had arrived.
The tall, slender man had a faint smile on his lips and looked five parts like Chu Li.
"Brother," he greeted, sitting down on the sofa of his own accord.
Chu Li put down his documents and leaned back in his chair, "Why did you suddenly want to come back?"
Chu Cheng sighed, "Mom insisted that I come back, saying that Fangfei is married and her heart isn't in her work. She was afraid of causing you trouble, so she simply told me to come back and take over Fangfei's work."
Chu Li was noncommittal, "Fangfei's work ability is quite good."
"After all, she is a woman; once married, her heart is all on her family." Although Chu Cheng acted as if he had been forced to return against his will, there was a hint of smugness in his tone.
Just as Chu Li was about to speak, his phone suddenly rang.
He glanced at his phone, a gentle smile appearing on his face, and his voice became exceptionally soft, "Finally remembered to call me?"
It was unclear what was said on the other end, but Chu Cheng's expression became even gentler, "I know, I'll come see you when I'm free, be good and listen."
Chu Li raised an eyebrow, "A girlfriend?"
Chu Cheng put away his phone and said with a smile, "No, just a kid, quite clingy to me."
The office door was knocked, and Chu Fangfei walked in; seeing Chu Cheng, her expression changed.
"Why are you here?"
Chu Cheng spread his hands in a devil-may-care manner.
Chu Fangfei bit her lip and handed the documents in her hand to Chu Li, "This is the proposal for the new project, take a look."
Chu Cheng walked over and took the documents, "From now on, I will take over all this work. Fangfei, you can go back."
Chu Fangfei's eyes turned red, and anger surged in her heart, but she held it back, "I understand."
She turned and left.
She returned to her office and began to pack her things; she had thought that by working so hard for the past three years to rebuild the Perfume Division, she would be able to gain their recognition.
But in her mother's heart, her brother was still more important.
After finishing packing, she called the person in charge over and gave a few instructions.
Only then did the person in charge realize she was leaving, and the whole person felt terrible.
One had to know that previously, it was Cheng Wan who led them here, and their division's performance was the best; later, after Cheng Wan left, the entire division's performance quickly hit rock bottom.
Later, it was only with great difficulty that Chu Fangfei came; although Chu Fangfei did not understand perfume, her management ability was excellent, and she had scouted a new director, so the Perfume Division finally thrived again. As a result, now she was leaving.
The person in charge felt their scalp tingle.
"If you are leaving, then who will manage this?"
"You will know soon enough."
Having said what needed to be said, Chu Fangfei left with her things.
She did not return to the Chu Family Old Residence, but went to a nearby apartment instead.
Cheng Wan came out of the office, and it was already dark.
She walked to the entrance and saw Chu Fangfei sitting on the steps.
For a moment, Cheng Wan thought she had recognized the wrong person.
At a time like this, what was she here for?
"Chu Fangfei."
Chu Fangfei looked up at her, "Cheng Wan, you've finally finished work."
"You were waiting for me?"
"Mm."
Cheng Wan frowned, "I have already made things clear to you regarding Wen Lvzhong."
Chu Fangfei hugged her knees and said softly, "I didn't come to find you because of Wen Lvzhong, I want to..."
She hesitated, looking listless.
"Can you take me home?"
Cheng Wan: "..."
They didn't seem to be very close.
But Chu Fangfei's state was not right.
"I'll call Wen Lvzhong to come pick you up." Cheng Wan took out her phone; she didn't really want to deal with Chu Fangfei.
"Don't." Chu Fangfei stopped her, rubbing her knees as she stood up, "I don't want to see him."
As expected, they had quarreled.
Cheng Wan looked at Chu Fangfei; she could actually just walk away, but for some reason, seeing Chu Fangfei's obviously dejected appearance, she couldn't bring herself to be that heartless.
"Why did you come looking for me?" she asked.
"I don't know, I just wanted to see you. Take me in."
Cheng Wan fell silent; she still remembered the first time she met Chu Fangfei, when she had such a capable air about her, but now, she looked like she had gone bankrupt.
"You..."
"Don't ask, please. I still want to keep some self-respect in front of you." Chu Fangfei looked at the night sky, the corners of her eyes slightly damp.
Cheng Wan said indifferently: "If you don't say anything, how can I help you?"
Chu Fangfei was silent for a few seconds before saying: "I lost my job."
In the end, she chose to reveal that her position had been taken over by her brother, waiting for Cheng Wan to laugh at her.
Cheng Wan stood in the wind for a few seconds.
"Let's go."
Chu Fangfei was very surprised, but she immediately got into the car.
Cheng Wan did not take Chu Fangfei home, but instead went to a nearby hotel.
An'an was at home, and she was not willing to let anyone from the Chu family get close to her.
Chu Fangfei was dissatisfied, "It's not like I can't afford a hotel, I don't need you to drop me off."
Cheng Wan didn't speak, but instructed the front desk to send up a few bottles of beer, "I think you need these."
Chu Fangfei fell silent; she felt miserable inside and wanted to drink, but thinking that safety was important, she went to find Cheng Wan—Cheng Wan still understood her best.
Chu Fangfei didn't stand on ceremony; she opened a bottle of beer and handed it to Cheng Wan.
Cheng Wan didn't drink, "I'm driving back in a while."
Chu Fangfei smiled bitterly, "I know."
She drank the alcohol, pouring out the grievances in her heart; Chu Yue favored sons over daughters, but her brother was a good-for-nothing, and Chu Yue always gave the achievements she had made to Chu Cheng, yet she was cowardly and simply couldn't resist.
