Chapter 29: He Confiscated Her Phone
Information on the internet came flooding in like a tidal wave.
Qin Xingwan sat on the hospital bed, watching an interview about Qin Yun Shu on the television.
Qin Yun Shu was wearing a white professional suit, and her long, straight black hair had been newly curled.
Her entire person radiated a bright and lively aura.
Regarding the reporter's sharp questions, she pondered for a moment before saying, "My sister and A Li are already married, so let's not bring up the past anymore. None of us want to occupy too many public resources; please focus more on the new perfume we are about to release."
The words were impeccable.
Yet, they confirmed the fact that Qin Xingwan had come between her and Chu Li.
The more the netizens had pitied Qin Xingwan a while ago, the more intense their current fury was.
All of Qin Xingwan's information was dug up, and her various accounts were filled with filth and abuse.
They even went so far as to curse Qin Nainai, believing that since Qin Xingwan's character was like this, it was because her elderly grandmother had failed in her duty to educate her.
Despite being mentally prepared, Qin Xingwan was still so angry that her whole body trembled.
Grandmother was the best grandmother in the world, and she would not allow others to slander her like this.
She logged into her public account, intending to tell the truth about their marriage three years ago.
It was not that she had come between their relationship, but that Qin Yun Shu had abandoned Chu Li and fled the wedding.
She was merely a pawn used by the Qin Family to consolidate a marriage alliance.
But the message did not go through.
Chu Li had arrived; the first thing he did upon entering the hospital room was to take away her phone, and upon seeing the message edited and unsent on the screen, he let out a sigh of relief.
So obvious.
He turned off the phone and put it in his pocket, only then looking at Qin Xingwan, "Xingwan, I'll keep the phone for now."
Qin Xingwan looked at him expressionlessly and held out her palm: "Give it to me."
Chu Li raised his hand, gripped her palm tightly, his Adam's apple bobbed, and he coaxed her softly: "Xingwan, let's not look at that information online, okay?"
A flash of mockery crossed Qin Xingwan's eyes; she pulled her hand from his palm, her eye sockets gradually turning red.
Filled with hatred.
"Chu Li, why?" She stared fixedly at her husband, questioning him with a hoarse, desperate voice.
She wanted an answer.
It was clearly him and Qin Yun Shu who were photographed by the reporter, yet in the end, he pushed her to the forefront.
In his eyes, was the only reason she, his wife, existed to serve as a shield for Qin Yun Shu?
"Xingwan, I know I've wronged you, and I will compensate you."
Chu Li pulled her forcefully into his embrace, as if wanting to knead her into his own bones and blood.
Qin Xingwan beat and struggled with both hands, but Chu Li would not let go.
In the end, she broke down and cried in his arms.
Chu Li looked up, his eyes reddened.
Qin Xingwan was taken back to Beicheng Villa by Chu Li.
He never returned the phone to her.
Qin Xingwan was carefully placed on the sofa in the study by Chu Li.
Chu Li pointed to the newly added books on the bookshelf, "Don't you like to read? This time I had people find many good books for you; you can read them slowly at home."
No joy appeared on Qin Xingwan's face; she asked Chu Li indifferently: "Are you planning to lock me here for the rest of my life?"
For the sake of Qin Yun Shu, he was capable of doing such a thing.
Chu Li crouched in front of her, his voice hoarse: "Xingwan, the position of Mrs. Chu will only ever be yours, and it will always be yours."
Such sweet words fell into Qin Xingwan's ears without any warmth.
He promised her the position of Mrs. Chu for a lifetime, in exchange for his beloved woman flourishing outside.
But she had long since stopped wanting the position of Mrs. Chu.
"Chu Li." Qin Xingwan leaned forward slightly, her bright eyes red and swollen, deep hatred surging, "You had better lock me here for the rest of my life."
"Xingwan."
"Don't call my name, it's disgusting."
Qin Xingwan braced herself against the sofa to stand up, moving her aching legs to leave the study.
She did not even glance at the books that had been specially prepared for her on the shelf.
Chu Li stood silently in place for a long time.
Qin Xingwan was forbidden from contacting outsiders; not only did she have no phone, but she was also unable to borrow one from the servants.
The only things she could do were read books and watch television.
Chu Li returned for dinner every day, but whenever he returned, Qin Xingwan would not come downstairs.
She even moved to the small bedroom next door, locking the door whenever she entered.
Chu Li could not see Qin Xingwan's face and could only learn what she had done and how much she had eaten throughout the day from the servants' words.
This continued for several days in a row.
The servant said she ate very little and had lost a circle of weight.
This day, Qin Xingwan saw Chu Li's car enter the courtyard and went upstairs to her room.
In the past, every time Chu Li returned, he would knock on the door, and even though he knew she would not respond or open it, he persisted.
Today, however, it was the servant who knocked on the door.
Qin Xingwan opened the door.
The servant's voice carried a hint of trepidation: "Sir says, if you wish to accompany Grandmother for her birthday, then come down for dinner."
Qin Xingwan pinched her palm.
That's right, Grandmother's birthday is almost here.
I wonder how well the Qin Family has managed to keep that information hidden, and whether Grandmother will find out...
At this moment, her desire to see Grandmother reached its peak.
She went downstairs.
This was also the first time she had seen Chu Li since the incident so many days ago.
The man was still extraordinarily handsome; he stood in the living room making a phone call, his posture upright, radiating nobility.
Hearing footsteps, he turned his head to look over.
Their gazes met.
Qin Xingwan indifferently looked away, walked to the dining table, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
The dining table was covered in food, all to her taste.
Yet, just like this entire period, she had no appetite at all.
Footsteps approached, and then the man's figure appeared beside her.
Chu Li sat down and told the servant to serve the meal.
The servant brought the food out, set it down lightly and carefully, and then left.
Qin Xingwan held her chopsticks and lowered her head to eat the rice in her bowl.
A piece of fish was placed into her bowl.
Chu Li said in a low voice, "The servant said you haven't been eating well lately."
No matter how the servant changed up the variety of delicious food, Qin Xingwan would only take a light taste.
Naturally, she was also getting thinner and thinner.
This was also the reason why Chu Li insisted she come downstairs to eat today.
His wife; he felt heartache for her.
Qin Xingwan chewed in small bites, finished half a bowl of rice, and put down her chopsticks, "I'm full."
The fish was still in the bowl, having lost its heat.
A gloominess flashed through Chu Li's eyes, and he said indifferently, "Xingwan, you are eating too little."
"I said I can't eat."
"You are going to see Grandmother in this state? Are you trying to make Grandmother worry about you?"
Qin Xingwan clenched her palms; the person she worried about most was Grandmother.
But she had no way to contact the outside world.
The only chance to meet was Grandmother's birthday in a few days.
"If I eat, will you take me?" She turned her head, speaking to him seriously for the first time.
Chu Li nodded: "I will."
"Fine, I'll eat."
Qin Xingwan picked up her chopsticks again and ate that piece of cold fish bit by bit.
She even took the initiative to pick up other dishes.
She ate quickly and hurriedly, as if afraid Chu Li would go back on his word.
Until, accidentally, her throat choked.
She covered her mouth and erupted into violent coughing, her fair fingers gripping the chopsticks, gripping them tighter and tighter until her knuckles were distinct.
Tears rolled down.
