Chapter 43: Qin Xingwan is not pregnant at all

~9 min read 1,748 words

Chu Li's impatience was so obvious.

Qin Xingwan wiped away her tears, pulled her clothes straight, and climbed off the bed.

As one foot stepped off the bed, her husband's arm already reached out, clamping around her slender waist to drag her into his embrace.

Chu Li's gaze was slightly cold: "I have already said in front of Grandfather that you are pregnant."

Therefore, this child must be conceived.

Qin Xingwan's tone was cold: "I said it, I cannot conceive."

It is not that she will not give birth, but that she cannot.

Chu Li pinned her hands behind her back, pressed close to her, his voice heavy with coldness: "If we don't do it, of course you cannot conceive."

Qin Xingwan's heart was riddled with holes.

No matter what she said, he did not believe her.

"Chu Li." Her voice was sharp, her eye sockets red, "Doctor Tang said..."

The rest of her words were swallowed by Chu Li.

He pressed down on her wrists, kissing her forcefully, blocking all those unpleasant words back in.

Qin Xingwan gritted her teeth, refusing to submit.

Chu Li was exceptionally familiar with his wife's body; he had plenty of ways.

Before, he just hadn't wanted to be too rough with her.

When it ended, Qin Xingwan lay on the pillow, in a state of utter disarray.

Chu Li leaned down once more; he lightly bit her earlobe, holding her tightly in his arms, lingering over her repeatedly.

Qin Xingwan died a little several times over.

As the sky grew slightly bright, Chu Li got out of bed.

He casually pulled on a shirt and trousers and went downstairs.

The servant was preparing breakfast and called out respectfully: "Sir."

Chu Li instructed: "Assistant Wu will send over some traditional Chinese medicine later; brew it for the Madam and watch her drink it."

It was a formula for nourishing the body and aiding conception that he had specifically asked Assistant Wu to have a traditional Chinese doctor prescribe.

He was very much looking forward to the arrival of a child.

When Qin Xingwan woke up, her whole body was achy and weak to an absurd degree.

She pulled back the quilt and looked at her body; even though she had been wiped clean, the marks were mottled and obvious.

She was so angry she threw her pillow.

The servant knocked on the door: "Madam, are you up?"

Qin Xingwan took a deep breath, suppressing the irritation in her heart, "I'm up."

Her voice was hoarse to an absurd degree.

Her throat hurt as well.

She hatefully threw the other pillow away as well.

Dragging her achy, weak body, she took a bath and changed into a loose set of clothes.

Downstairs, the servant brought over breakfast, followed by a bowl of pitch-black medicinal liquid.

The smell was very unpleasant.

Qin Xingwan frowned, "What is this?"

The servant hurriedly said: "It is the traditional Chinese medicine sent by Sir, for you to nourish your body."

"I won't drink it, take it away." She turned her gaze away in a huff.

Seeing that her expression was poor, the servant had no choice but to take it away and turn to tell Assistant Wu.

Assistant Wu told Chu Li.

Chu Li's hand, which was signing documents, paused, and he said expressionlessly: "I see."

She was unwilling to have a child, which was why she wouldn't drink the medicine.

He knew that her heart was no longer in this home.

After finishing her meal, Qin Xingwan lay on the bed for half the day.

Lin Qingya called her over to try on some clothes.

Qin Xingwan could not agree; there were bodyguards guarding outside the villa, and she could not get out.

Lin Qingya simply brought the clothes over herself.

In the bedroom, Qin Xingwan took off her outer clothes, and Lin Qingya gasped upon seeing the blue and purple marks on her body.

"Did that scumbag Chu lay a hand on you?"

She understood those things between men and women, but the marks on Qin Xingwan were too heavy.

She couldn't help but be suspicious.

Qin Xingwan lowered her eyes and changed into the clothes, giving a bitter smile, "He wants a child."

Lin Qingya was shocked: "But aren't you..."

She didn't say the rest of the words, fearing her friend would be heartbroken.

"I told him, but he doesn't believe me; he thinks I am refusing to give birth."

They had tossed and turned for a long time last night; neither of them had felt good.

Lin Qingya was furious, "He didn't care when you were pregnant before, which led to you having such a terrible accident, and now he wants you to have a child? Is he sick in the head?"

"He probably thinks that if I have a child, I won't go looking for trouble with Qin Yun Shu anymore." Qin Xingwan sniffled, feeling a sharp, sour ache.

Chu Li holds Qin Yun Shu in the palm of his hand, granting her every request.

She, his wife, has never received such treatment.

Lin Qingya feels heartache for her friend and comforts her, saying, "When Lawyer Wen returns to the country, you should file for divorce immediately and take half of his assets; let's see how arrogant he can be then."

Qin Xingwan is naturally looking forward to Lawyer Wen returning to the country, but now Chu Li also knows how to use Grandma to manipulate her.

She truly doesn't know what to do when that time comes.

She can only take it one step at a time.

Lin Qingya leaves after keeping Qin Xingwan company for lunch.

Qin Xingwan returns to her room and sleeps for another half a day.

Chu Li returns and does not see Qin Xingwan; after asking the servant and learning that Qin Xingwan is in the bedroom, he goes to find her.

The curtains are drawn open, and the afterglow of the sunset spills in through the window, landing by the bed in a scene of warmth.

Chu Li lowers his head to kiss his wife's lips, then deepens the kiss.

Qin Xingwan finds it hard to breathe and wakes up.

Her sleepy eyes quickly regain their clarity.

She reaches out to push him away directly, her brows furrowed in impatience.

Chu Li does not mind; he strokes her hair and tells her to change her clothes to go eat.

"I'm not eating," she replies coldly.

Chu Li slowly and methodically takes off his clothes, "Fine, don't eat; we'll do it now."

Qin Xingwan is driven mad with anger; she throws off the quilt and sits up. She glares at him with hatred, "I already told you I can't conceive."

Her eye sockets gradually turn red, and tears gush out one after another.

"I injured my body during the miscarriage in the heavy rain last time; you can go ask Tang Yisheng."

Chu Li still does not believe her, "After resting for several months, your body should be healed."

He rubs his brow with some irritation; he feels guilty about losing the child and has been doing his best during this time to make amends and repair their relationship.

But she does not appreciate it.

The child and Qin Yun Shu have simply become her inner demons.

Having lost the patience to coax her, he simply takes off his clothes and scoops her into his arms.

After two consecutive days of unrestrained indulgence, Qin Xingwan cannot take it and sleeps until the sun is high in the sky.

She is awakened by a basin of cold water poured over her.

Opening her eyes, she is met with Madam Chu's aggressive face.

Several sheets of paper are thrown onto her face.

"Qin Xingwan, you have truly gone too far; you actually dared to use pregnancy to play us for fools."

She had gone to the Yiyuan this morning because she was feeling unwell, and remembering that Qin Xingwan was pregnant, she went to the obstetrics and gynecology department to ask about Qin Xingwan's condition, only to receive the news that Qin Xingwan was infertile.

Qin Xingwan lowers her eyes to look at the papers on the quilt; the four words "unable to conceive" are exceptionally glaring.

Madam Chu wants to tear Qin Xingwan to pieces.

She disregards decorum and rips away Qin Xingwan's quilt.

Qin Xingwan is wearing a spaghetti-strap nightgown, and her exposed skin is covered in marks left by the man's affection.

Madam Chu clutches her chest, her breathing becoming increasingly rapid as she spews mean and vicious insults.

"You loose little slut."

She lands a fierce slap.

Qin Xingwan raises her hand to push, and Madam Chu, failing to stand steady, stumbles and falls to the ground.

"You dare to lay a hand on me?"

She is driven mad with rage, climbs up from the floor, and grabs Qin Xingwan to brawl.

Qin Xingwan endures it several times, but Madam Chu only escalates, so she cannot help but fight back.

In the end, Madam Chu faints.

Chu Li rushes to the hospital room.

Madam Chu cries and complains to her son, "Look at the good wife you married; she laid a hand on you last time, and this time she actually dared to lay a hand on me."

"I want to call the police."

She assumes her son will definitely stand on her side.

Chu Li says with a cold face, "You were the one who struck first."

The servant had told him everything that happened.

He did not come here to check on Madam Chu's injuries, but to warn her.

"Have I not told you that you are not allowed to go to Beicheng Villa?"

Madam Chu releases her grip on his clothes, her eyes filled with hurt, "You are protecting that little slut?"

"I am your mother."

She shouts loudly in a fit of exasperation.

Chu Li says with a frigid expression, "She is my wife; if you continue to speak so rudely, I won't mind cutting off your cards."

Madam Chu falls silent instantly.

But her confidence soon returns.

"Qin Xingwan isn't pregnant at all."

Chu Li's expression does not change at all, "I know."

The pregnancy was something he had just said off the cuff.

Madam Chu was stunned, "You knew she couldn't have children?"

Chu Li's figure, as he was about to leave, froze; he turned his body stiffly, his handsome face devoid of any expression: "What did you say?"
