Chapter 72: I am the child's mother, but it has nothing to do with you
The car started.
Qin Xingwan watched Chu Li from the rearview mirror and saw Cheng Mingzhu rush to his side.
She could not help but burst into tears.
He was so angry, yet he still left her in the car and got out himself...
He had bullied her in the past, and now that she was being heartless to him, it could be considered even.
Qin Xingwan did not return to the villa, but instead had the driver take her to the small house where she had lived before.
Standing in the living room, she felt even sadder.
After all that trouble, she had returned here after all.
Her terrible mood did not last long; Qin Xingwan quickly pulled herself together. She asked Fang Yiwen in detail about Wen Ping'an's condition and learned that if the child could find a successful bone marrow match, there was still hope.
She tidied up and went to the Yiyuan without delay to get tested for a match.
Fang Yiwen also went along to get tested.
Wen Ping'an was an extremely adorable child, and they all hoped he could grow up safely.
When Wen Lvzhong heard the news, he was moved, and his cold expression softened significantly.
Especially toward Qin Xingwan, he felt a sense of gratitude. "Miss Qin, may I have a word with you?"
Qin Xingwan went to the hallway outside with him.
Wen Lvzhong first apologized to Qin Xingwan for the previous incident, then asked earnestly, "Are you Ping'an's mother?"
Qin Xingwan stared fixedly at Wen Lvzhong. "You..."
"I have lost my memory."
Wen Lvzhong pointed to his own head. "I was injured in an accident three years ago. After waking up, I remembered nothing except that Ping'an is my son."
"Memory loss." Qin Xingwan murmured, almost unable to control her emotions. "You actually lost your memory."
Could this be fate?
Wen Lvzhong waited for Qin Xingwan to process this fact; come to think of it, Ping'an did look a bit like her.
Thinking about it, if she were Ping'an's mother, it was not a fact that was hard to accept.
It was just that he always felt like something was missing in his heart.
"Miss Qin?" Seeing that Qin Xingwan remained silent for a long time, he spoke up to remind her.
Qin Xingwan took a deep breath. She looked at Wen Lvzhong seriously, her tone solemn and slow: "I am Ping'an's mother."
Wen Lvzhong's expression relaxed; it was as he thought. He phrased his words carefully: "Then between us..."
Qin Xingwan shook her head to interrupt him. "There is no relationship between us."
"I insisted on giving birth to the child myself; it has nothing to do with you. Later, when I discovered the child was ill, I sent him to you."
Wen Lvzhong fell silent.
He could understand.
After all, a single mother already had a difficult life, let alone when the child was ill.
Qin Xingwan's voice softened. "You don't need to have any psychological burden. I came here only for the child; I have no intention of getting involved with you in any way."
Wen Lvzhong nodded. "Understood."
Qin Xingwan breathed a sigh of relief and asked him, "Then can I go see Ping'an now?"
Wen Lvzhong agreed readily. "Of course."
He added, "You can come whenever you like."
Qin Xingwan pursed her lips and revealed a sincere smile.
They turned and entered the hospital room together, their backs looking somewhat well-matched.
At the other end of the hallway, Chu Li stood for a long time and watched for a long time.
So she really had a past with Wen Lvzhong and even had a child.
His heart was torn to shreds and bleeding.
Chu Li laughed at himself, turned to leave, and took the opportunity to take out his phone and call Madam Chu.
"I agree to the marriage with Cheng Mingzhu."
Madam Chu was pleasantly surprised. "A Li, you've finally come to your senses."
But Chu Li had already hung up the phone.
Madam Chu became excited and began arranging to invite Cheng Mingzhu to the house for a meal.
It would be best to settle this matter quickly, so that Chu Li wouldn't have his soul hooked away by that little slut Qin Xingwan again.
Qin Xingwan held the little one in her arms, stroking his sparse hair, her heart aching so much that her eyes could not help but turn red again.
She hoped she could be a successful match and let Ping'an live a long life.
"Mommy." Wen Ping'an held up his little hand and clumsily wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes. "Mommy, don't cry. Ping'an will work hard to get better."
Qin Xingwan choked up and kissed his forehead. "Mommy believes Ping'an will definitely get better."
He would definitely grow up healthy and strong.
Outside the door.
Fang Yiwen stroked his chin and sighed, "I didn't expect Xingwan to actually like you."
Wen Lvzhong corrected the error in his words. "That is a thing of the past; we have already talked it out."
Fang Yiwen patted his own mouth to apologize.
He brought up Qin Xingwan's divorce. "Chu Li is dragging his feet and refusing to divorce, which has broken her heart."
Wen Lvzhong's expression became more serious. "I will handle it."
He had handled many divorce cases and was very experienced.
In his view, it would not be difficult for Qin Xingwan and Chu Li to divorce.
"How... did they get married?" Wen Lvzhong was very interested.
He was not a person who liked gossip, and he never inquired about the emotional history of the parties involved.
But regarding Qin Xingwan, he wanted to get to the bottom of it.
Fang Yiwen recounted how Qin Yunshu had fled the wedding back then, and how Qin Xingwan had been forced to marry.
Those matters were no longer any secret today.
"Ping'an." A sudden scream rang out in the hospital room.
Wen Lvzhong and Fang Yiwen rushed in at the same time, only to see Wen Ping'an's small body lying in Qin Xingwan's arms, while Qin Xingwan was covered in blood.
Wen Lvzhong had taken care of Ping'an for three years and was already very experienced with such matters; he immediately rushed out to call for a doctor.
Very quickly, Wen Ping'an was sent into the emergency room.
Qin Xingwan was full of panic and asked tremblingly, "How could it be like this?"
Wen Lvzhong gave a bitter smile: "Leukemia is just like this; without finding a suitable bone marrow, it will only get more and more serious."
"Has it never been found?"
"It is very difficult."
Wen Lvzhong had searched for three years and never found any; every time he saw Wen Ping'an enter the emergency room, he prepared for the worst.
Fortunately, Ping'an was very strong and had been fighting against the illness.
"It is my fault," Qin Xingwan said, tears streaming down her face.
If it hadn't been for back then...
"They're out," Fang Yiwen shouted.
Qin Xingwan looked toward the doorway, nervous and anxious.
The doctor took off his mask, nodded, and told the family members to rest easy.
Wen Lvzhong pressed his palms together and muttered a few words of thanks to the heavens.
The doctor said: "A suitable bone marrow transplant must be found as soon as possible; if it is delayed any longer, even if one is found, his body will not be able to withstand the risks brought by the surgery."
"Okay, I understand," Wen Lvzhong replied in a hoarse voice.
Qin Xingwan had already followed Wen Ping'an to the hospital room.
She prayed that her own bone marrow would be a successful match.
Wen Lvzhong checked the time and invited Qin Xingwan and Fang Yiwen to a meal.
To thank them for their help.
The three of them went to a restaurant near the Yiyuan.
As soon as Fang Yiwen sat down, she received a call from home and had to leave in a hurry.
Only Qin Xingwan and Wen Lvzhong were left.
For the sake of Ping'an, things were not very awkward between them.
Not long after they sat down, a familiar conversation drifted over from not far away.
"A Li, is this place very delicious?" Cheng Mingzhu's voice carried a hint of coquettishness, "It looks quite ordinary."
Chu Li's voice was somewhat indifferent, "I like it."
In truth, he himself did not know why he had chosen to eat here.
