Chapter 358

And after a day of hard work.

All the corvée laborers lined up waiting for food, half a pancake and a bowl of thin porridge.

"Next! Hurry up!"

The leading officer seemed to have remembered Su Chen's face.

He pushed him down.

"Slacking off at work? Eager to eat? Take your bowl and line up at the very back!"

With a sharp shout, he drove Su Chen to the back.

And when Su Chen limped and lined up again.

The bucket for food could only pour out half a mouthful of water-like porridge, and not even a crumb of pancake could be seen.

He wanted to argue a few words, but seeing the stick raised by the officer, he could only bend over and dodge quickly.

"Eat quickly! Get to work after eating!"

And after the day of corvée labor finally ended.

Returning to the dilapidated dormitory.

The two rows of beds were completely occupied by other corvée laborers.

They even arrogantly snatched away Su Chen's bedding and drove him to sleep on the ground.

"Get lost! I'll beat you if you come over again!"

"Sorry, sorry... sorry!"

Having suffered beatings and being hungry for several days, Su Chen had no strength to resist.

He kept muttering sorry and slept on the cold ground in humiliation.

And seeing this.

Countless viewers couldn't hold back the anger in their hearts.

【How can these people be like this?!】

【Everyone is a corvée laborer! Why bully others!】

【That's right! And that officer! It's clear he's targeting Gao Yao!】

【Too much! How can you bully people like this?!】

【Corvée labor in the Qin Dynasty is simply not for humans....】

【They don't give people food, and they want people to work! Isn't this too much!】

【Heartbroken for Gao Yao.... he was inexplicably brought to the Qin Dynasty by Following Yi Xiaochuan, and inexplicably sent here to be a slave by Following Yi Xiaochuan's brother on the surface...】

【That's right... even if he hadn't met Following Yi Xiaochuan, being a restaurant chef would have meant eating well and drinking well!】

【He just wanted to be an honest chef... how did he end up so miserable...】

Countless viewers couldn't help but sympathize with Gao Yao...

Clearly, he didn't do anything wrong.

He had treated his sister Gao Lan as the apple of his eye since childhood, as the whole meaning of his life!

Because Following Yi Xiaochuan was a playboy and bullied his sister, he wanted to stand up for her! He wanted to find Following Yi Xiaochuan to reason with him!

But he was forcibly taken by Following Yi Xiaochuan in a car to chase a treasure-stealing gang, and ended up being brought to the Qin Dynasty!

And because he had to take care of Following Yi Xiaochuan, he couldn't continue to be a restaurant chef, and now he was tricked by Following Yi Xiaochuan's brother, Liu Bang, and ended up in this miserable state...

It can be said...

All of Gao Yao's misfortunes so far... only happened because he met Following Yi Xiaochuan!

While countless viewers sympathized with Gao Yao.

They also hoped that Following Yi Xiaochuan, as the protagonist who would rise later, could make up for Gao Yao more! These were all sacrifices Gao Yao made for Following Yi Xiaochuan, either actively or passively!

And it was exactly the opposite of what all the viewers wished.

The plot still didn't develop in a good direction!

Su Chen, who had been hungry for three or four days and was truly driven mad by hunger.

Actually snuck into the kitchen of the corvée labor station to steal food!

Driven by extreme hunger!

230 Su Chen used both hands to frantically stuff even raw vegetables into his mouth! Then he stole a few freshly baked pancakes and stuffed them into his bosom!

But at this moment.

The sound of conversation coming from outside the kitchen made Su Chen's body shake!

He hurriedly hid behind the stove.

"What? You want it now?!"

"No choice, the higher-ups are urging us..."

"Alright... do you need anything else?"

"The higher-ups only want a chef who can cook!"

An officer and a eunuch walked into the kitchen while talking.

But hearing the eunuch's request.

The officer was a bit troubled.

"Why do you want a chef? Won't there be no one left in this kitchen!"

But behind the stove.

Su Chen, listening to the two talking, immediately realized that this was an opportunity! A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

With his level as a star chef in the modern era!

He would definitely be an existence that could sweep everything in the Qin Dynasty!

As long as he could become this chef!

He could escape the current inhumane life of corvée labor!

Otherwise, he was really afraid... that in a few more days, he wouldn't know if he would be beaten to death or starved to death!
