Chapter 47: Uniting with the Divine!

Seeing 【Executioner Makyura】 charging straight at him, You Tian spoke calmly: "That won't do~"

"I activate a face-down card: Quick-Play Magic 【Moon Book】."

"The effect of 【Moon Book】 activates: this card can change one monster on the field to Defense Position face-down."

Hummm! ~ A soft beam of moonlight shot forth from 【Moon Book】, striking 【Executioner Makyura】.

Immediately, Makyura flipped over.

"Damn it!" Seeing his attack neutralized, Malik was furious.

"End of my turn."

You Tian gave a slight nod.

"My turn, Draw Phase."

He glanced at the card drawn, his eyes narrowing slightly.

【Monster Reborn】?

Even with the Millennium Scale, Slifer the Sky Dragon's One-Hit Kill won't kill me so easily.

But if Ra attacks me, I'll still suffer immense pain.

If I use 【Monster Reborn】 to revive Slifer the Sky Dragon, could I prevent Malik from using another One-Hit Kill?

No, that won't do!

You Tian shook his head.

To summon Slifer the Sky Dragon, I must read the ancient Egyptian text on it—I don't understand it.

This method works for Game, works for Kaiba, but not for me.

Then, that's it!

"I activate a Magic Card from my hand: 【Monster Reborn】."

"The monster I revive is 【Masked Beast Death Guardian】 from my Graveyard!"

【Masked Beast Death Guardian】 revives! 【Attack Power: 3300】

Everyone: "Great! You Tian has summoned another powerful monster! This time, Malik is finished!"

Seeing himself finally revived from the Graveyard, Death Guardian shed tears of emotion. "Wahhh, Master, thank you for remembering me!"

You Tian: …

"Attack! Go, Death Guardian, strike his face-down 【Executioner Makyura】."

Death Guardian wiped his tears, entered Battle Position, crouched low, then lunged at the face-down 【Executioner Makyura】.

Boom!

As expected, 【Executioner Makyura】 was destroyed!

"Ahahaha! Fell for it, You Tian."

Yet, Malik, having lost his only barrier, burst into laughter.

"The effect of 【Executioner Makyura】 activates: this turn, when this card is destroyed by battle, I can activate a Trap Card from my hand!"

"I activate this card from my hand: 【Zombie's Jewel】!"

Instantly, a brilliant light flared in You Tian's Graveyard, then shot straight into Malik's hand.

"This card allows you to take one Magic Card from your Graveyard that was sent there this turn!"

"And the one I take is, of course, 【Monster Reborn】, which you sent to your Graveyard this turn!"

Game: "Damn! Malik got 【Monster Reborn】 again—he can now revive Ra from his Graveyard!"

Jonouchi glanced at You Tian with concern.

"Don't worry! You Tian now holds a Millennium Item—Slifer the Sky Dragon's One-Hit Kill can't touch him!"

Malik looked at Jonouchi with a mocking glint.

Hmph! Fool! Ra has another effect!

You Tian, seeing Malik use a Trap Card to reclaim 【Monster Reborn】, clicked his tongue.

He knew full well the effect of 【Executioner Makyura】.

But this turn, Malik had only one card in hand—even if 【Executioner Makyura】's effect activated, he could use at most one Trap.

If next turn Malik drew another Trap or replenished his hand, destroying 【Executioner Makyura】 later would put him at a greater disadvantage.

That's why he decisively ordered Death Guardian to attack.

He just hadn't expected Malik to hold this exact card.

"I end my turn."

Now it was Malik's turn again.

"My turn, Draw Phase!"

"Ahahaha!" Seeing the drawn card, Malik burst into laughter again.

"You Tian, this time, you're definitely dead!"

You Tian frowned slightly.

That Malik…

"I activate 【Monster Reborn】, which I obtained from you!"

"Revive once more! 【Slifer the Sky Dragon】!"

Intense flames erupted again from Malik's Graveyard.

Shiiii~

With a piercing shriek, 【Slifer the Sky Dragon】 reappeared on the field.

Jonouchi: "Hold on, You Tian! Just survive Ra's effect one more time—then Malik loses!"

"Hmph!" Malik sneered coldly.

"Idiot! Do you think I'd use God Phoenix's ability again?"

Hearing himself called an idiot, Jonouchi instantly flew into a rage. "What the hell did you just say, you bastard!"

Malik ignored Jonouchi entirely and turned his gaze toward You Tian.

"Let me show you the third ability of Ra!"

Game: "What! Ra has a hidden ability too?!"

Then, Malik clenched his fists and crossed them over his chest.

An ancient, obscure language poured from Malik's lips as he chanted.

As he chanted, his entire body began to dissolve like mist, slowly fading away.

Everyone gasped in shock. "This is—!"

You Tian's gaze turned icy.

Is it coming? The Merge with Heaven—Slifer the Sky Dragon.

Before long, Malik's entire form had nearly vanished. Where he had stood, only one eye and an arm holding the Duel Disk remained.

"Where is he?!"

"Ahahaha!"

Suddenly, Malik's laughter came from atop Slifer the Sky Dragon.

Everyone turned to look—and saw Malik had fused completely with Slifer the Sky Dragon!!

Jonouchi: "Th-This—!"

He was too stunned to speak.

Game's pupils shrank tight; Kaiba stared in utter disbelief at this unscientific spectacle.

The others were utterly dumbfounded.

"Ahahaha! Ra's final special ability is to allow the player to Merge with Heaven!"

"When the player reduces their Life Points to exactly 1, the rest becomes Ra's Attack Power!"

【Malik LP: 2600→1】

【Ra's Slifer the Sky Dragon】【Attack Power: 2599】

"This! I never expected Ra to have such an ability!" Game exclaimed.

Jonouchi: "Hmph! Even if you Summoned Slifer the Sky Dragon with 2599 Attack Power in one turn, you still can't defeat You Tian's 【Masked Beast Death Guardian】!"

Hearing this, Malik sneered.

"Oh? Really?"

He fixed his gaze on You Tian's Death Guardian.

"Hmph! I'll attack your monster! Divine Flame Cannon!"

"What?!" Everyone cried out.

"Is Malik insane? Ra only has 2599 Attack Power—it can't possibly overcome You Tian's Death Guardian!"

You Tian, too, frowned deeply.

The Slifer the Sky Dragon on the field, obeying Malik's command, began gathering Divine Flame Cannon energy.

At that moment, Malik spoke again. "At this instant, I will Special Summon this card from my hand!"

Hum!

As Malik slapped a card onto his Duel Disk, a strange, purplish monster materialized in projection.

【Zure, the Dark World】【Attack Power: 1700】

You Tian: So it's this card!

"Ahahaha! This monster can be Special Summoned during monster battles—right now, I recover 1000 Life Points!"

【Malik LP: 1→1001】

"But that's not all—during the Battle Phase, this card can be tributed to increase Ra's Attack Power by 1000!"

"I'll offer all my newly recovered Life Points and 【Zure, the Dark World】 to Ra! So now, Ra's Attack Power is 4599!"

Everyone: "What?!"

【Malik LP: 1001→1】

【Ra's Slifer the Sky Dragon】【Attack Power: 2599→3599→4599】!

Game: "Damn! If You Tian takes this direct hit, even with the Millennium Scale, he won't escape unscathed!"

Jonouchi: "You Tian!!"

The next instant, the Divine Flame Cannon gathered by Slifer the Sky Dragon fired.

Boom!

"Aaaah!!!"
