Chapter 50: Third Union with the Divine

Kc Airship, Room 7 Duelist — Rishid.

Rishid, struck by the divine punishment of Slifer the Sky Dragon, lay on the bed with eyes tightly shut and his body charred black.

Beside him, Isis sat in silent sorrow, gazing at him without a word.

"M… Malik… Lord…"

On the bed, Rishid murmured Malik's name intermittently.

Seeing this, tears began to glisten slowly in the girl's eyes.

Isis, Malik, and Rishid had grown up together since childhood.

Although, nominally, Rishid was a servant of their Tomb Wardens clan, Isis and Malik had long regarded Rishid as their own elder brother.

And now, their younger brother was about to become a sacrifice to darkness; their elder brother lay here, barely clinging to life.

Isis could no longer hold back her tears; two streams of moisture flowed from her eyes.

"Rishid, we are all pitiful souls toyed with by fate."

Isis slowly closed her eyes, clasping her hands before her chest as if in prayer.

"Mr. You Tian, please defeat my brother and free our Tomb Wardens clan from this endless curse!"

On the Duel Stage, after long contemplation, You Tian used the Divine Magic Master to retrieve Monster Reborn, then Set two cards and ended his turn.

"What's going on? Why didn't You Tian use Monster Reborn to summon a powerful monster?" Jonouchi asked, puzzled.

"No, You Tian is right not to use Monster Reborn now," Game said.

Everyone turned their heads toward Game.

"Malik has Life Recovery on the field — if You Tian uses Monster Reborn now, Malik will draw three more cards…"

At this, Game fell silent.

So that's it! Could You Tian be planning the same tactic he used against Osiris?

Kaiba also realized this at the same moment.

True, Malik has no endless-reviving Slime on the field — but in his previous turn, he repeatedly revived Slifer the Sky Dragon, depleting his Deck by seventy percent.

His gaze instantly locked onto Malik's Duel Disk.

Only twelve cards left!

If You Tian can trigger Life Recovery four times, he will win!

Malik's lips curled into a smile.

Naive fool~ You really think I'll play along with your scheme?

"My turn, Draw Phase!"

He glared menacingly at You Tian.

"You↑ Tian↓, no matter what trick you're playing, if you can't withstand Ra's attack this turn, nothing awaits you but endless darkness! AHAHAHA!"

You Tian's expression was grim.

It seems Malik has guessed at least part of my plan.

The crowd below also looked tense.

"Hmph! Then let me hear your final cry!"

"I activate a Magic Card from my hand: Magic Recharge."

【Effect: Discard two Magic Cards from hand. Add one Magic Card from your Graveyard to hand.】

"By this card's effect, I discard two Magic Cards from my hand, and from my Graveyard…"

"I add Monster Reborn to my hand!"

As expected, Malik once again retrieved Monster Reborn.

"Revive once more — Slifer the Sky Dragon!"

Boom~

The Sun God descended upon the field once more.

"AHAHAHA! At this moment, Life Recovery's effect activates!"

Malik's hand +3

Kaiba: Good! Malik revived Ra himself — now his Deck has only eight cards left; You Tian needs to trigger Life Recovery three more times to win!

Malik stared at the new cards in his hand, licked his lips, and wore an exaggerated, theatrical grin.

"Looks like you won't get another turn, You Tian~"

You Tian: "What?!"

Hearing this, everyone frowned.

"I summon this card from my hand: Gilgamesh."

【Attack Power: 1800】

Malik pointed at You Tian's field.

"You have only one Attack Position Divine Magic Master — this turn, your Life Points will be reduced to zero!"

"Enjoy your funeral dirge!"

"I fuse once again — with Ra!"

Malik chanted once more that incomprehensible ancient language.

Thus, he fused with Ra again.

【Malik LP: 4600→1】

【Slifer the Sky Dragon】【Attack Power: 0→4599】

"Ahahaha!"

"Fight! You Tian!"

"I'll attack your Divine Magic Master with 【Despair from the Dark】! Go, Infinite Despair!"

【Despair from the Dark】 【Attack Power: 2800】

【Divine Magic Master】 【Attack Power: 300】

With the attack command issued, 【Despair from the Dark】 began gathering dark energy once more.

"I've been waiting for this!" You Tian waved his hand.

"Activate the trap card, Quick-Play Magic 【Day and Night】!"

"This card can cover one face-up monster on each player's field!"

Everyone: "Perfect! Now we can cover 【Ra's Slifer the Sky Dragon】!"

Kaiba and Game frowned.

"Ha! Too bad, You Tian. Do you really think this card works on Ra during the turn the God revives? Ahahaha!" Malik laughed mockingly.

Unexpectedly, You Tian's expression didn't change.

"Don't worry, I don't underestimate the ThreePhantomGods. 【Day and Night】 isn't targeting Ra..."

As he spoke, You Tian pointed at 【Despair from the Dark】.

"This time, let it cover instead!"

Hummm~ Hummm~

The moment You Tian finished speaking, 【Despair from the Dark】 and 【Divine Magic Master】 both flipped into Defense Position.

Malik sneered.

"You think you can save your weak monster this way, then use another covered card to block 【Gilgamesh】, and finally use that saved weak monster to block Ra's attack?"

You Tian said nothing, as if acknowledging Malik's words.

"Nice plan~"

"But sorry, take a good look at my field!"

Everyone: "What?!"

At that moment, another monster appeared on Malik's field.

【Zure, the Dark World】 【Attack Power: 1700】

【Malik LP: 1→1001】

"That card again!" You Tian frowned slightly.

"This card was Special Summoned from my hand the moment 【Despair from the Dark】 attacked!"

"Now your weak monster can't be saved! Go, 【Zure, the Dark World】, crush his covered weakling!"

Boom!

【Divine Magic Master】 flipped over. 【Defense Power: 400】

You Tian: "At this moment, 【Divine Magic Master】's effect activates—I'll return one Magic Card from my Graveyard to my hand..."

"Irrelevant! Your field is now empty! Go, 【Gilgamesh】, launch a direct attack on You Tian!"

【Gilgamesh】 【Attack Power: 1800】

The iron demon charged forward like a mad executioner and swung its blade down!

Malik: "Oh? Not using a covered card?"

Hiss! The blade sliced down over You Tian's head.

"Aaaah!!!" You Tian felt the actual slash—a piercing pain shot from where the blade cut.

Everyone: "You Tian!!"

【You Tian LP: 3600→1800】

"Ahahaha! Kimoji~" Malik savored You Tian's agony with great pleasure.

"Such a good expression~ I almost don't want to kill you~"

"Ehehehe~ What should I do? So troublesome~"

As he spoke, Malik on Slifer the Sky Dragon seemed to genuinely ponder whether to kill You Tian.

You Tian staggered upright, glaring at Malik.

Suddenly, Malik's lips tightened.

"Liar! I still have to bury you in darkness!"

"Attack continues! I'll keep using Ra for a direct attack on you! At this moment, 【Zure, the Dark World】's effect activates."

"I offer up 【Zure, the Dark World】 and the 1000 Life Points I just regained!"

【Malik LP: 1001→1】

【Ra's Slifer the Sky Dragon】 【Attack Power: 4599→5599→6599】!!!

Game: "Ra's Attack Power reached 6599?!"

Jonouchi: "Damn! With this kind of power, You Tian won't survive!"

Shhh~ Shhh~ Shhh~

The shriek from Slifer the Sky Dragon surged like a tidal wave, crashing outward.

"Final strike! You Tian! Your weak deck and you—descend together into the deepest hell!"

"Divine Flame Cannon!"

Everyone: "You Tian!!!"
