What Novelzhen is
Novelzhen is a free website for reading Asian web novels in English. The catalogue is dominated by Chinese web novels — xianxia, wuxia, xuanhuan, cultivation, system and LitRPG, urban, historical, apocalypse, transmigration, reincarnation, harem and romance — alongside Korean and Japanese titles and a large library of crossover fan-fiction (Naruto, One Piece, Marvel, Harry Potter, Douluo Dalu and more).
About 1,100 of those novels are Chinese web novels translated into English by Novelzhen's own multi-model AI pipeline rather than by a human group, which is why many titles with no English release anywhere else are readable here from chapter one to the final chapter. Around 1,700 more are English-language web novels mirrored from public web-novel platforms, plus community uploads and member requests. How the AI translation works
Each chapter is translated by an ensemble of frontier AI models, then passed through automated glossary, canon and verification steps. Before a novel is translated, the pipeline builds a glossary of its characters, places, sects, factions, techniques, items and honorifics; that glossary is enforced in every chapter, so a name rendered one way in chapter 1 is rendered the same way in chapter 2,000.
The pipeline runs around the clock, publishing new chapters continuously and keeping the homepage's latest-updates feed fresh. Metadata — title, original title, alternative titles, synopsis, genres, tags, cover, author and status — is published before the chapters so every novel page is complete from day one.

Where the content comes from, and copyright
Novelzhen is honest about where its catalogue comes from. As of October 2026 it holds about 2,800 novels of three kinds. Roughly 1,100 are Chinese-origin web novels translated into English by Novelzhen's own multi-model AI pipeline from the original-language text; these carry the AI badge and have a glossary page. Roughly 1,700 are English-language web novels (stories written in English on public web-novel platforms) mirrored from the public web so readers can follow them with Novelzhen's reader, library and community tools; they are labelled with their origin language. The remainder are novels uploaded by their own authors through the upload tool, and English novels imported at members' request.
Original works remain the property of their authors and publishers. Novelzhen is not licensed by or affiliated with the original publishers, it does not claim ownership of the source texts, and it does not sell access to anything. Authors and rights holders can have a work removed or credited by writing to [email protected] or using the DMCA page; takedown requests are acted on promptly after verification, usually within 24 to 48 hours. User-uploaded novels are published under the uploader's account and the uploader is responsible for them, as set out in the terms of service.
