Lin Yun, 36, whose wife died early, works as a mid‑level manager in a private company and is a single dad, has lately felt he’s hit a mid‑life crisis. His career is hitting snags, at home he’s locked in a cold war with his 14‑year‑old daughter, and he’s plagued by shoulder periarthritis, making each day unbearable. Just in the past few days he uncovered a secret—his daughter is a magical girl. In her youthful bloom she battles extraordinary monsters, protecting the city from attacks, the very hero the public envisions when they think of magical girls.
