Chapter 1043: Leave It to Me

~4 min read 744 words

Having ears too sharp isn't always a good thing—the two of them, who had been going at it vigorously for most of the night, were sleeping soundly in each other's arms.

After hearing a noise in the courtyard, Liu Chuxue sleepily turned over, thinking she'd doze a little longer before getting up—she couldn't be lazy on the very first day.

The man behind her pressed up against her right away, and she mumbled drowsily: "Stop it."

Fu Yan Cheng pulled her tighter into his arms and said lazily: "I told Mom last night not to call us for breakfast today—we need to catch up on sleep."

The moment Liu Chuxue heard that, her face flushed red in an instant. She turned around and punched Fu Yan Cheng: "What nonsense are you spouting? Afraid people won't know what you did last night?......"

Just as she was thinking of saying more, she heard her second sister-in-law Hao Yanhong's voice.

Liu Chuxue rolled her eyes at Fu Yan Cheng: "There you go—now let's see if you still have the nerve to stay in bed."

Fu Yan Cheng pulled her close and planted a firm kiss on Liu Chuxue's forehead: "You were worn out last night, sleep a little more—leave this to me."

To be honest, even though Liu Chuxue had her spatial cheat, she couldn't withstand how good Fu Yan Cheng's stamina was—he really had worn her out thoroughly. Hearing him say that, she wanted to see how he'd handle it, so she nodded and closed her eyes again.

Fu Yan Cheng tucked the blanket around Liu Chuxue, got up, dressed, and went out.

Hao Yanhong hadn't expected the one to come out of the bridal chamber to be Fu Yan Cheng instead of Liu Chuxue.

A flicker of embarrassment crossed her face: "Um, fourth brother, I wasn't talking about you....."

Before she could finish, Fu Yan Cheng cut her off: "If you weren't talking about me, then who were you talking about?"

Hao Yanhong gave a small cough: "I was just thinking the new bride just married into the family, she can't get a reputation for being lazy, so....."

Before she could finish explaining: "Then let me ask my second sister-in-law—when did you get up on the second day after your wedding?"

Being pressed so aggressively by her brother-in-law, even with the thickest skin, Hao Yanhong's face turned crimson: "You—you, how can you—I'm your sister-in-law, how could you....."

She was so angry she was starting to stammer.

Fu Yan Cheng, however, didn't care how embarrassed she was: "But you, as a sister-in-law, started gossiping the very day after your brother-in-law's wedding—I'm just learning from you."

Hao Yanhong was even more furious now: "I was doing it for your own good."

Fu Yan Cheng's face was full of mockery: "Don't even mention that our parents are still alive—even if they weren't, there's still big brother and big sister-in-law. It's not your place to manage us. Besides, do you think everyone here is a fool?

Don't pull these little tricks on us as a couple—especially not on my wife—or my second brother might not be able to handle the consequences."

Fu Yanwei, hearing the conversation outside, thought to himself, 'This is bad.'

He scrambled to pull on his pants in a panic, the clothes in his hand not yet properly put on, when he heard his fourth brother's last sentence.

Just as Hao Yanhong was still wondering: what did her brother-in-law mean by that last sentence?

She watched Fu Yan Cheng stride with great purpose toward the second house's door.

Fu Yan Cheng didn't go in, just called out toward the room: "Come on out."

Fu Yanwei knew his fourth brother's temper all too well. Before he could figure out how to respond, he heard the words from outside the door.

But he knew he couldn't hide, so he could only button his shirt with one hand and open the door with the other: "Yan Cheng, don't listen to your second....."

Before he could finish, Fu Yan Cheng smiled—a smile that didn't reach his eyes—and threw an arm around Fu Yanwei's neck: "Second brother, ever since you were sent down to the countryside, the two of us brothers haven't sparred at all. Taking advantage of this fine day today, let me see if you've let your skills slip."

Hearing this, Fu Yanwei quickly raised his hands: "I've never beaten you since we were kids—this joke can't be played."
