Chapter 1059: A Sudden Impulse Born of Haste

Father Fu set down the tea mug in his hand: "Our house is private property; what trouble could there be? Besides, I already have a plan."

Seeing his wife's look of disbelief, he added: "Once those four families move out, five rooms will be freed up in the house. Having them all stay together for long would be inappropriate and easy to criticize."

Mother Fu grew anxious: "What time is this? Just say your plan directly."

Father Fu looked helpless: "I'm telling you. When will you change this impulsive temper of yours?"

Seeing his wife had reached her limit, he quickly raised his hands in surrender: "Alright, alright, I'll say it, I'll say it. The factory is building a new production line and has specially borrowed an engineer from Shanghai."

He had barely finished speaking when Mother Fu frowned: "You don't mean you want the engineer to stay in our house, do you?"

Then she thought of something: "Even if you had that idea, how could one person occupy five rooms?"

After his wife finished speaking, Father Fu continued: "I originally thought about seeing if we could free up a separate courtyard in the staff compound, but you know how tight housing is right now. Besides, this engineer's situation is somewhat special; to settle him properly requires at least five rooms."

Hearing this, Mother Fu's face changed: "Fu Qiusheng, what do you mean? Did you plan from the start to kick the children out to live elsewhere?"

Hearing this, Father Fu quickly explained: "Don't wrong me. The second couple is simply too capable of causing trouble. My decision was made in anger; I just wanted them to experience what life is like without our protection, instead of letting good days go to waste while they do nothing but stir up trouble."

Mother Fu thought it over and agreed; before the family split, although she had collected their food fees, all household expenses came from the common fund, and the money she collected, she hadn't touched a single cent, intending that even if their small family couldn't save, these funds would provide security when the family eventually split.

Having understood, she raised her head and continued asking: "Then what exactly is so special about the engineer's situation?"

Father Fu's heart now beat nervously, fearing his wife would disagree: "Let me tell you, they will stay here at most half a year; once the production line starts operation, they will return to Shanghai."

Mother Fu knew him too well: "Don't talk around the subject; get to the point."

Father Fu coughed lightly: "This Engineer Jiao is the only son in his family; he also has an older sister with low intelligence..."

Before he could finish, Mother Fu frowned: "Does he mean to bring his sister along??"

Father Fu lifted his cup and took another sip of water, then continued: "Not only his sister, but also his parents. I heard his parents are not in good health; leaving them in Shanghai worries him."

Hearing this, Mother Fu looked puzzled: "Even if you bring them all, five rooms aren't needed."

Father Fu tugged at his left earlobe: "Didn't I say his situation is special? The problem is his wife is an only daughter..."

At this point, he stopped speaking.

Mother Fu jumped up instantly: "You don't mean to say you want to bring his father-in-law and mother-in-law along too?"

Father Fu nodded slightly, somewhat embarrassed: "His father-in-law was injured at work and cannot be left alone; even going out to soak up the sun requires his presence."

Mother Fu was now displeased: "Fu Qiusheng, have you lost your mind? For the factory's sake, you're bringing this whole family of old, weak, and sick people into our house? If anything happens, you..."

Father Fu's idea had indeed been a sudden impulse after his anger, but the more he thought, the more he felt only this way could Engineer Jiao work with peace of mind. Plus, with both families living in the same courtyard, even if work matters arose, it would be easier to discuss them.
