Chapter 1126: Hard Journey Toward the Sea

~4 min read 676 words

The one-month Canton Fair finally ended successfully; the steel rolling mill's orders increased by thirty percent compared to previous years, with customers mainly from Southeast Asian countries, most of which are in the early stages of industrialization or infrastructure development and have high demand for ordinary steel, with this batch of orders primarily consisting of angle steel, channel steel, wire rod, and steel plates for construction use.

Old Zhou looked at the orders in his hands, grinning so wide his mouth seemed to stretch to the back of his ears.

For the entire Canton Fair, their order volume wasn't the most impressive, but within their industry, it far exceeded their expectations.

While others were packing up, Old Zhou and Mi Aijun had already taken the orders to report the exhibition's outcomes to their superior department, detailing foreign clients' requirements and market information, providing useful reference for future production and export planning.

Due to Liu Chuxue's outstanding performance and her sore throat from excessive talking these past few days, Old Zhou decided she didn't need to help with packing up these two days—she should rest at the guesthouse—and he announced to everyone that once the exhibits were loaded onto trucks and departed, everyone would get two days to rest before returning.

In short, this was Old Zhou's indirect perk for everyone; after all, coming to Guangzhou wasn't easy, so naturally they should tour around and bring back some local specialties for their families.

With this, Liu Chuxue now had three days of free time; she'd regretted not having enough time to fill her space during her last trip to Inner Mongolia, so this time in Guangzhou, she'd make full use of it.

Early the next morning, before Wan Qing had even woken up, Liu Chuxue left the guesthouse.

Today, everyone else's task was packing up, which would take just one day.

Team leader Old Zhou, mindful of everyone's month-long hard work, told them to report at nine—by then, everyone would still be catching up on sleep.

As she passed the guesthouse front desk, she held out three candies: "Sister, I'm room 206. I'm going out on personal business today; if I'm back too late and any colleagues come asking, give them this note."

The woman at the desk was about to say, "Why don't you just tell them yourself?" but when she looked up and saw the candies, her face showed nothing, yet her heart leapt: "Alright, I understand."

After thanking her, Liu Chuxue hurried out.

Today she was going to Nansha's Lingding Ocean; she'd previously inquired about the route from locals. Though transportation was inconvenient and the journey would take considerable time, she had to go—this was a rare chance, and no matter how hard, she couldn't miss it, since her space's small sea area remained empty.

She first took a bus to the coach station, then boarded the earliest shuttle to Shiqiao; road and traffic conditions were vastly different from the future, and if she missed this one, the next bus wouldn't come until noon.

After nearly three hours of jolting on the road, she'd have been utterly exhausted without her space's advantage—she'd periodically sipped pre-prepared space pond water, for the road was terrible, the bumps unbearable.

People behind her bounced like they were riding horses, forced upward at intervals; luckily she'd chosen a middle seat—if she'd sat in the back row, her buttocks would've been ruined.

After waiting about half an hour, she switched to another shuttle bound for Lianhuashan in Panyu, another two hours, arriving by noon.

After finding a secluded spot to eat inside her space, she didn't dare delay further.

She was lucky: just then, she encountered a ferry from Shilou Town's Jiaotangdong Village; it wasn't a passenger boat, but one belonging to a man whose daughter-in-law was from this area and had returned to her parents' home after giving birth, and now the in-laws had come to pick up their daughter-in-law and infant grandson.

Seeing there was still room on the boat, Liu Chuxue struck up a conversation with them.
