Chapter 1150: They Are Robbing the Road
The team leader was a meticulous person; a lid had been added to the basket, tied shut with fine rice straw from who-knows-which household, so unless someone opened it by hand, not a single bit of seafood would fall out.
Watching the driver help secure the belongings, she politely thanked him before boarding the vehicle.
However, the good seats in the middle of the bus were already full; only the back row was empty, and in front, the seats beside the engine remained.
She would rather die than sit in the back; not wanting her rear end to suffer, she lifted her leg and climbed onto the seat beside the engine hood.
To her surprise, not long after the car set off, someone came chasing after them: "Damn it, could she have taken the public bus?"
"How is that possible? With so many things, how did she move them all by herself? We never saw anyone go over to help."
"Where is that person? Did they vanish like a ghost?"
"Damn it, I thought we'd pull off a big score, but it turned out to be all for nothing."
Liu Chuxue arrived at Shiqiao after a bumpy ride, just in time for the last bus back to the city. Thinking she'd have to travel by night, she stowed her belongings, waved to the driver, and headed straight for the state-run restaurant nearby.
The steamed buns and vegetable buns in her space had been finished a few days ago, and she hadn't had time to prepare more; after all, eating on the bus, if she ate meat buns from her space, the smell would be too strong, which would be unethical and likely cause trouble.
Carrying a steamed bun, she boarded the bus and, as expected, chose the seat beside the engine hood again; however, this time it wasn't a sideways seat, but a normal forward-facing one.
Soon, the bus was full of passengers.
Having expended so much energy today, once the sky darkened, Liu Chuxue took out a steamed bun and, using her shoulder bag as cover, retrieved some homemade pickled vegetable strips from her space, finishing her meal that way.
Using her shoulder bag as cover, she took out a jar containing water from her space's pool, drank a full cup, then tidied up and prepared to close her eyes and rest; after all, she had truly exhausted so much energy today, and even with her strong constitution, she couldn't withstand it.
Perhaps she was simply too sleepy, and combined with the car's swaying, she soon fell asleep.
At first, there was still noise and chatter on the bus, but as the sky grew completely dark, the interior fell utterly silent.
The bus, which had been running smoothly, suddenly slammed on the brakes; many passengers, caught off guard, bumped their foreheads against the seats in front, instantly throwing the car into chaos: "What's going on? It hurts so much!"
The driver, still shaken, trembled as he said, "Someone is blocking the road ahead."
At first, no one reacted, thinking someone just wanted a ride; but when they saw the people standing outside the bus and the weapons in their hands, they were all terrified: "Are they... robbing the road?"
Instantly, everyone in the bus fell silent; even those who had bumped themselves during the emergency braking held back their cries, fearing the people outside would notice.
The driver had been running this long route for two years, and this was the first time he'd encountered such a situation; he didn't know how to handle it at first, but being a kind-hearted man, he forced himself to stay calm, turned around, and said to the passengers: "We've likely run into a road robbery; everyone, quickly hide your money and tickets."
The moment he spoke, everyone snapped back to their senses, and the bus was immediately filled with rustling sounds.
Liu Chuxue couldn't help but frown; what taboo had she broken today? In the morning, saving someone had nearly drained her strength; she had planned to rest on the bus to recover, yet here she was facing trouble again, and this time, something quite thorny.
