Chapter 1275: Since They Helped, the Thank-You Gift Must Be Adequate

~4 min read 709 words

Liu Chuxue glanced through them one by one; one was on medicine, the other two on machinery.

She had no experience with medicine, so naturally she chose the machinery ones, having previously translated some materials for the steel mill.

Director Wu, seeing her choice, told her the payment.

Liu Chuxue showed nothing on her face, but her heart was overjoyed. After bidding farewell to the director, she went downstairs, greeted Sister Zheng, and walked home with light, cheerful steps.

After resting briefly at home, calculating that Aunt Fang would be off work soon, she took a fish out of her space, along with some dried fruit she had made in the space, since fresh fruit at this time of year would be hard to explain.

She rode her bicycle directly to the Houhai Subdistrict Office where Aunt Fang worked.

The timing was perfect; when she arrived, Aunt Fang had just come out.

She smiled and approached: "Auntie, I'm here."

Seeing the fish in her bike basket, Fang Ruyu said: "We agreed I'd cook something good for you, so why..."

Liu Chuxue laughed: "Exactly. You cook something good for me, and I bring the ingredients. Isn't that perfect?"

Fang Ruyu was not a fussy person: "Alright then. Today, Auntie will really show you what she can do. Come, let's go home. We actually have a piece of cured pork at home."

The two chatted and laughed as they headed home.

Once inside the courtyard gate, Fang Ruyu finally said: "You've rented out the entire house. As agreed, the rent starts counting from the twentieth. They've already begun moving in over the past few days. Since the whole courtyard is being rented out and used only for office purposes, the rent was negotiated at one hundred yuan per month for the entire first courtyard. With three courtyards, that's three hundred yuan a month in total."

"I've also brought back the rental agreement. Take a look; if there are no issues, find some time these days to go over and sign it with them. After all, it's a public unit, so the procedures are more formal than renting to an individual."

Saying this, she pulled the person inside the house and took the agreement out of her bag: "Take a look at this agreement first. If you feel anything is unsuitable, you can bring it up then, and I'll discuss it with them."

Each agreement was two pages, all with identical content. After reading it, she found nothing improper: "Auntie, the agreement is fine. However, there is one point we need to communicate with them again."

Fang Ruyu handed her a glass of water: "Go ahead."

Liu Chuxue considered for a moment: "During the rental period, if the house suffers any human-caused damage, they must be responsible for repairs."

Fang Ruyu nodded lightly: "Mm, what you say makes sense."

Liu Chuxue took a sip of water from the glass before continuing: "To be honest, I suppose I'm judging a gentleman's heart with a petty person's mind. Putting it in the agreement is just to be prepared; that way, if anything actually happens, there will be no arguing."

Fang Ruyu thought of what had happened in their subdistrict not long ago: two households had a minor clash, and the other household felt the subdistrict had handled it unfairly. The man from that family had grabbed a wooden stick and rushed into the subdistrict office.

Although he later realized he had been impulsive and even lost money because of his rashness, not only was the glass in the office window shattered, but the window frame was also damaged: "Alright, I'll note this down. Tomorrow at work, I'll go talk to them about it."

"Then thank you for your trouble, Auntie. My hometown has also called for me to go back and fetch some honey. I'll bring some for you to taste then."

Though this was an excuse, it was also true. Xiao Fu had said the village secretary had sent word that the beehives back home were full, and honey would be harvested in the next few days, urging them to return to collect it.

Since Aunt Fang had helped, naturally the thank-you gift must be adequate; she thought honey would be quite suitable.
